WBN = Winston Broadcast Network, the Ernest Angley Ministries subsidiary that has operated WBNX-TV. Not sure where the Winston came from....was it Ernest's favorite brand of cigarettes before he found salvation? Also, the buffet (and the entire complex including the unfinished concrete tower) goes back to the Rex Humbard ministry.1 point

While that sounds fine and dandy and oozes of warm, fuzzy nostalgia, don't count on it. The rights fees for MLB telecasts nowadays are way too rich for any local broadcaster. That's not even going into how viewing habits have/are changing. Heck, a few years ago WKYC surrendered Browns pre-season rights to WEWS.1 point

I just went to their website tonight. Just randomly, kind of. I do have lots of extended family out there, so as soon as I find the link to their newscast, I'll need to catch up. Overall, I really like the new "19" logo, and I like even more that there's no longer two different "19"s in two different fonts. That was always a bit triggering.1 point

The assisted living place where my grandma is always makes her look real pretty when we come to visit. Oh....and BTW... Just a little faith in God (or something else) will add a few years to anybody's life. "Grrr Grrr....I'm a big tiger....and I own a TV station. Grrrr....Grrrr!"

Retirement. It's a bad kept secret but that's what it is. Mel Showers will be retiring from WKRG. Not many anchors can claim to have worked for 50 years in just one station. Don Alhart and Dave Ward are the only ones I can think of right now.0 points
