  1. I really dislike the mix of typefaces they're using. Stick with one family, or at least use fonts that complement each other. They're using Avenir for the titles but Franklin Heavy for the L3's with italics and condensed and it's all over the place. Either stick with Avenir or go completely to Franklin. IMO during the intros when they use Franklin Heavy italic and it looks too much like a "fake TV show newscast" like Murphy Brown. The graphics seem to be a mishmash. They are using an angled shadow under the CBS Eye/CBS This Morning bug on the left but the rest of the L3s don't follow that angular approach. It's not a great presentation.

  2. Nope. She always stays at one station in a market for just a few years and then leaves to go somewhere else and then after a few years, leaves to go somewhere else. She never likes staying at one place. Five years in Philly, three in Los Angeles (KNBC), four in Houston (KHOU), few years in New York (WNYW), six years in Detroit (WJBK; the longest place she's ever been at IIRC) and a few in San Francisco (KGO).

  3. The termination of FuzzyMemories YT channel is unfortunate, but not surprising. Some of the recent stuff they had uploaded had tons of flagable/copyright heavy content (such as the full episodes of Happy Days, Soundstage, etc.). I'm curious as to what they'll do from here, whether it be them going to court to have the channel return (like their fight with Tribune 10 years ago to upload WGN-TV clips), or just starting over with a new one. This will definitely breathe new life into their main website however, which hasn't seen much updates since around 2017. Now for a little oddity that a found on a tape, an entire 30+ minute downtime sequence for KYW-TV from September 1987. yes, they were only off the air for a half hour, and yes, they still did formal sign-off and sign-on messages!

  6. Agreed. I said it in my post: -I really like the L3s, but dislike the font. -The teaser is a mixed bag, but I really like the L3 of it. ...and it still stands. The Avenir type used in the last several packages worked because its light lettering and shaping complemented the the L3 very well, and it was consistently utilized. This type mix makes this one look somewhat sloppy. If Avenir stayed for this this package, I would've liked it much more -- or even loved it.

  7. Pete (WMAQ) broke in a few minutes ago & said he will again when necessary. Likely won't see Mike (WFLD) or anyone else for awhile because I believe they all live in the burbs.

  11. I think they did that to show people they are focusing on news from everywhere - not just the major cities.

  12. I noticed the WFLA GFX had similar vibes to WWMT’s 1996 pack. I believe both were VDO jobs? Take a look at the L3 similarities: They also had that “camera lens” graphic as well that I associate with the 90s.

  19. Sinclair Fox affiliate KDSM/Des Moines had their tower transmission line burn out on Friday, taking out their over-the-air and satellite coverage, and today a tower worker trying to repair it fell from the tower at around 1,000 feet and died. They had already had to delay the repairs a couple days due to strong wind gusts.
