  5. Dr. Bill Gutsch is a distinguished astronomer and astronomy professor at St. Peter's University. From 1982 to 1988, he was the weekend meteorologist and Storm Field's backup meteorologist. He also was a science editor for Channel 7 and worked for GMA and the old World News This Morning. He came to WABC from Channel 13 in Rochester. He was ultimately another victim of the Applegate regime that got rid of Roger Grimsby and let a whole host of others go or leave. His replacement was go figure, Sam Champion.

  6. They still use Tar Sequence. Channel 7 also used to use the iconic ABC Circle 7 logo in their earlier days

  8. Glenwood Springs (and thus KREG) is in the Denver market - 1.438% on the cap Dkenver provides, but it’s a VHF station (so no discount), and assuming Nexstar is somewhat close, selling off this station could provide cap space for several smaller markets (easily 3 sub-50 markets without any discounts).... 11. The early 1980s CBS Evening News graphics were mocked by Canadian comedy series SCTV which aired on NBC in the United States. This was seen in the episode where SCTV were in a "network war" with CBS, ABC and NBC. And the episode featured its own take on "The Godfather." So, you can watch SCTV's version of the CBS open at 22:20 and the open uses a synth theme. Here is the original CBS Evening News open from 1981 which features a close.

  12. Well shoot--at least buy the anchor dinner first...or, you know, let them ass you a few interview questions.

  13. Good look, but the first 30 seconds of that newscast is enough to make me want to change the channel. Shaky camera and the anchors seem a bit unsure of themselves. Plus, holding tablets looks d u m b. At least you can fold papers.

  14. Yeah Bank Gothic was like one of the hottest fonts at the end of the 90's. No knockoff there.
