  1. No way, CBS's prime time does not do as well in Atlanta as it used to. If there is any movement in the fall, it would be WAGA taking a more commanding lead in late news with FOX taking over Thursday Night Football. Best 46 could do is solidify a solid third place (as long as they don't fire anyone in the meantime).

  4. It is getting repetitive but the absence of a regular traffic report in the prime morning rush hour is also quite ridiculous, especially for the largest city and TV market in the country. I'm confused as to how that negligence is being lost on anyone. Beyond that, is it ever a good thing to be so inconsistent? Cancel traffic reports out entirely instead of only when the traffic anchor is away. CBS 2 is easily the 4th or 5th rated morning news program in the city and this is an obvious example of them phoning it in. If this is their approach then, hell what's the point of doing the news at all? I mean everything they discuss is a rehash of the 11 pm news the night before and if it's not then it's typically stories that are already accessible through some means well before 4:30 a.m. Just cancel the entire 2.5 hour show because it's 2019 and is outdated morning news really THAT big of a deal?

  5. Sorry for getting repetitive. I agree in general it's not a big deal, except when they are the only local TV station to not have someone sub when the regular traffic reporter is out I do find that odd. In other CBS2 news, noticed Nina Kapur, previously with News 12 Connecticut, joined WCBS in June as a reporter.

  6. Starting to get a little repetitive in this thread. Is the lack of someone telling you traffic times on TV in the year 2019 really THAT big of a deal? It's obvious WCBS doesn't care that they occasionally don't have traffic reports. If viewers were that upset by it, they'd be subbing the role. If it's not affecting the ratings, it's not going to change, and apparently not having traffic reports is not affecting ratings.

  7. It's YouTube TV and Philo for me. Since Google doesn't have any stake in most of the content providers (other than YouTube), they are willing to negotiate and have avoided the blackouts that most other providers have endured. Philo fills in virtually all of the other gaps (with Viacom and some other channels like A&E and the other Discovery networks) so between both services it's a cable-like package. The major selling point with YouTube is the complete availability of big 4 locals in virutally every market. The lone exception is Tribune and their ABC affiliates. CW and MyNetwork is still piecemeal, largely available with the O&Os and Sinclair, but not with Tribune, Nexstar, Scripps or Tegna. Some of the smaller markets lack networks simply because the network is not available locally there, with a few minor exceptions where NBC O&Os are provided in places like Alpena and Mankato (WMAQ).

  8. And before them Dish was the outlier for playing hardball with broadcasters and other content suppliers.

  9. I think the cable bundle is starting to burst and what's fueling the fire is the fact that AT&T (the same company that's started the whole carriage fiasco) wants to shift current DirecTV satelitte customers to streaming. So clearly that may be part of the reason why we've seen so many carraige disputes involving AT&T. Looking back, I can clearly see why the Justice Department didn't want to allow the AT&T-Time Warner merger to go through in the first place, it has nothing to do with CNN's politics but rather the kind of stuff that it's playing out now, and it shows.
