  1. If I'm not mistaken, that studio was used by The Weather Company for their web/mobile video forecasts, back in their IBM-owned days. I don't believe the TV network has made use of it, outside of the malware incident that you referenced.
  2. I've always said that major storm coverage seems to have a permanent impact on Fox Weather's schedule afterwards, and it looks like Helene and Milton were no different. Judging from last weekend and this weekend, all weather programming on weekends after 2pm ET has been discontinued and replaced by returns of Park'd nonstop until live programming resumes the following morning. Awful.
  3. So whatever "The Weather Channel LIVE" ends up being, would we expect it to be a very low-staff program, perhaps something that originates from The Lab like the old "Weather Center Live"?
  4. I like this idea. It feels like they're afraid to stray from the AMHQ branding (for ratings purposes, idk?), but having the show end at 2pm ET is just silly at this point. I remember back in like 2021, if Jen and Alex's show ever extended past 12pm ET due to severe weather/hurricane coverage, the 12pm ET hour would be run as an unbranded hour instead of AMHQ, because they refused to push the AMHQ brand into the afternoon. Funny how that's all out the window now.
  5. Thinking back to like 2020-2021 when Weather Center Live still existed, the program guide called the show "The Weather Channel LIVE" using the exact same show description, so I'm definitely curious to see if this show will be Weather Center Live or something brand new. I'm curious to see if Jacqui and/or the two Chris's will be hosting this afternoon show. But yeah, live programming until 10pm ET? When's the last time that was on TWC's regular schedule?
  6. So with the Weekend News moving to 57, do we foresee renovations to 47 to eventually bring the Evening News back to its longtime home?
  7. That bad? Are we talking the possible cessation of all live programming on said network?
  8. For the Fox Weather overnight simulcast on FNC, unlike the last few times they've done this, they brought in FNC news anchor Kevin Corke to host tonight's coverage while Ian Oliver provides the weather information. I believe the previous simulcasts for hurricane coverage only used Fox Weather meteorologists.
  9. Both The Weather Channel and Fox Weather dropped live coverage overnight. To see this on the night before landfall is just bizarre. We're in a different era now of non-24/7 coverage I guess.
  10. The Weather Channel still has the AMHQ team live as of 1pm ET. I haven't seen them use this schedule for any storm coverage since they moved to the current schedule. The only thing I'm thinking is that maybe their plan is to stay live one hour later until 2am ET tonight, to avoid bringing in an overnight crew like they normally do from 1am-5am ET if they were to stay live all night.
  11. Thin vertical score bug on the left side of the screen? Reminds me of the shape of the early 2000s WGN scorebug, but of course, a lot more modern. The huge GOAL graphic that takes up the left side of the screen looks ripe for social media thumbnails.
  12. Looks like the "light mode" version of the score bug is being used so that the black color of the Raiders doesn't blend in with the normal color of the graphic.
  13. "This strategic move is expected to provide customers with compelling video options and allow us to accelerate our vision for the future of TV." In other words, more consolidation and less options for consumers.
  14. ... and now that Tropical Storm Francine exists and is a threat to the US, America's Weather Center has returned to the July 29th format of originating from the FNC newsroom with a rotating cast of meteorologists joining Bob at the desk each segment.
  15. In other news, the "new format" of America's Weather Center with Bob Van Dillen that rolled out on July 29th did not even survive the end of that very week. Once coverage of what would become Hurricane Debby started on Friday, August 2nd, the format and studio of the show went back to the old setup, and it's been that way ever since. Since Fox Weather's inception, special weather event coverage seems to always upend their schedule permanently. We're talking dating back to the December 2021 tornado outbreak that resulted in the first cancellation of America's Weather Tonight, and several weather events since then. They always seem to exit each special weather event with something permanently different with the schedule or show formatting.
  16. That statement is so painful to read, knowing that it likely has nothing to do with what actually happened behind the scenes.
  17. So what's the likely technical reason why this would happened? Could this be a flashcam studio that's shared by multiple networks, and the crew is responsible with changing the background between live hits? Or could this be a setup in Vance's home / hotel room where he himself would have been responsible for changing the background between live hits?
  18. Here's another view from the opposite angle. That's quite the panoramic multi-window view of the capitol. Does anyone know if this is the same building where NBC, Fox, and C-SPAN are located, or if this is somewhere else? And do we know if this is the same building as NewsNation's previous DC studio?
  19. Yellow and blue on a morning show... how original. The old wooden look was definitely unique. Was it the prettiest for the morning? Probably not, but it was unique.
  20. I see that Jason posted a Fox Weather map about Tropical Storm Debby's rainfall forecast to Facebook yesterday. Wonder if that's still part of his ongoing contract.
  21. I wonder if this means that Ari will have a permanent on-air schedule now. I know for the past couple of months, he's been appearing at random, whenever the network needed him. This morning, based on what I'm seeing, it looks like Ari hosted Fox Weather First alongside Craig, while Britta moved down to Weather Command to cover the landfall of Debby alongside Stephen.
  22. Well well well, look who showed up at Fox Weather, starting today... Yep, that's Mike Seidel, who was laid off from TWC back in May. Today was his first day appearing with Fox Weather. Stephen and Kendall welcomed him to Fox Weather, also mentioning that Mike Seidel has been given the title of "Storm Specialist" with the network.
  23. Britta Merwin and Ian Leonard are leading off the Tropical Depression Four coverage this morning. Guessing we'll see the normal weekend crew as part of extended coverage later today.
  24. Yeah, it feels like it was written without any research of readily-available information.
  25. Wow, I didn't realize that they were actually going to have the new facility ready this soon. In my mind, I was assuming either around election time or in 2025. I wonder if ABC News will have a set in the new facility ready for the election.
