  1. AFAIK, ESPN regularly offers the MNF games to the highest bidder whenever the game can't air on the ABC O&O (because Dancing with the Stars is more important for ABC.) That's why, if the Bears have a MNF game in December when DWTS is over, the MNF game will be on WLS. Otherwise, it gets sold to somebody else in the market, typically WGN, WCIU, or WPWR.
  2. So sorry to hear that...
  3. WGN announced on-air today that just like last year, "Cubs Nightly" will air every night at 6:30pm from October 2nd until the Cubs' playoff run is over. It will replace the 6:30-7pm block of news, which, of course, didn't exist last October.
  4. Wow, that's right, it's already been 4 weeks. Where has September gone?
  5. Yep, came here to say this. I hope Rob is doing well.
  6. So, after Rob working the 6pm and 10pm news and Patrick working the 4pm and 5pm news all last week, Dick Johnson returned to the weekend role this weekend. (I'm pretty sure Dick was off last week; don't remember seeing him at all) I wonder what role we'll see Dick in Monday-Wednesday this week. Anchor? Back to general assignment reporting?
  7. Could they possibly be waiting for the regular season? Or possibly be waiting for Sinclair to take over so that they can make their own package?
  8. Rob Stafford is doing the 6pm news tonight.
  9. Wow, that's a rare pairing.
  10. Oh, ok. I hadn't heard that.
  11. WGN replaced the last 15 minutes of the 6pm news with The Lead-Off Man. They probably had to do this because the ads were already sold for The Lead-Off Man, which would have aired before the regularly-scheduled 1:20pm game.
  12. So, I noticed that yesterday and today, Patrick is anchoring at 4 and 6pm despite Dick being on the 5pm. Not sure if Patrick is going to be off this weekend, or if he's going to work a 9-day week. I'm curious why they're doing this. I'm guessing either Dick has a prior commitment that prevents him from working the 4 and 6pm, or management is trying to get Patrick in the seat on weekdays as much as possible.
  13. Allison Rosati just threw to a live hit from Lauren Jiggetts. She quickly realized what she said and corrected herself to say Lauren Petty.
  14. On a serious note, I disliked the frantic, dramatic music and overall tone of the cold opens. I wish they'd stay gone.
  15. idk about you guys, but it seems like they shouldn't be using this on-air.
  16. Remember when we speculated on how WMAQ would split the male anchors? Today's schedule is: 4PM: Patrick 5PM: Dick 6PM: Patrick 10PM: Rob
  17. I'm going to guess Jim Cutler was off this past week/weekend. He didn't do the weekly WGN Morning News promo on Friday, either.
  18. Technical fail on the Cubs telecast tonight. None of the graphics except the score graphic are working. They had to use a freeze-frame of the ABC7 starting batting order graphic. Other than that, no lower thirds or other graphics at all.
  19. Yikes, Rob's been through a lot. That's terrifying when the original treatment plan doesn't work.
  20. I noticed that Amy Rutledge has returned from maternity leave and has begun her role as afternoon traffic reporter. Apparently her first day back was last week Wednesday.
  21. So nobody is running a special on the Air and Water Show this year? That's a shame.
  22. Despite the program guide's claim of Fox 32 News following the late preseason Bears game, so dice. They went directly to Fox 32 Postgame Live. (Speaking of which, I'm surprised that CSN/NBC doesn't have a trademark on the Postgame Live name.)
  23. Are you speculating or stating a fact? You imply two different things in your post.
  24. Was she with Tahman or solo?
  25. Wow, just when there was some sign of possible stability at WFLD...
