Amyre Makupson made her debut on the 6pm filling in for Shaina Humphries (who co-hosted The Talk out in LA today).

Her mother Amyre Sr. also appeared at the end of the 6pm half-hour.

"Good Day L.A" has not been the same since the days of Steve, Jillian and Dorothy co-hosting the program.  During their tenure, it was competitive with the "KTLA Morning News" from time to time.

It will be interesting to see what Jennifer and Melvin will be like on "Good Day L.A."

And I still miss Steve, Jillian and Dorothy; especially on Good Day Live (Nationally Syndicated Show). IMO, I wish GDL was back.

  3. Sad news out of Birmingham. If you grew up watching WBRC-TV in the mornings, you remember Country Boy Eddie. Gordon Edward Burns "Country Boy Eddie" passed away yesterday at the age of 92. Burns hosted "Country Boy Eddie and Friends" from 1957 to his final show on New Year's Eve 1993.

It seemed like he wanted to get rid of Norah O'Donnell so badly, but was overruled.  That alone is a red flag.  I will say that I am not sure Brian Williams would have boosted ratings for the Evening News.

I would've given BW a chance, but what about Shepard Smith?

When WOIO rebranded as “19 News” in 2019, then-GM Erik Schrader said"we have to stand out. Action News was an effective brand for its time, but time moved on and we had to move on, too. And tastes will change. As much as I like this brand (19 News), it probably will eventually change."

How about changing 19 News to (CBS) 19 Eyewitness News.

I'm rather disappointed. Even though I am opposed to the new numberless branding, I expected to like the new graphics. That bug is huge and it looks like a copy and paste of the CBS News streaming package (which is the point, I get it).

Didn't think they could do worse than the outgoing O&O package but this feels lifeless to me.

I expect a return to numbers within two years.

I second that. But I give it a year and then they'll reverse it back to CBS Mandate.

  8. I don't like the changes on KCBS & KCAL not one bit. The expansion, I'm alright with it (if the ratings are good). But KCAL CBS News Los Angeles... NO WAY! I wish the CBS (Television) News & Stations leaves the names as it is like CBS 2 News and KCAL 9 News. I would be alright for CBS 2 Morning News and KCAL 9 Morning News as well.

Meteorologist Jordan Evans has left KTUL for WJLA in DC joining former KTUL weekend anchor Kim Jackson.

I have a hunch that Jordan will be the new Chief Meteorologist at 'JLA when Bill Kelly leaves for KYW.

Complete with the “My Mood” closing theme, brilliant!

Jim Vance and George Michael are looking down in heaven right now wishing Doreen all the best in her retirement. Wishing JV, GM, were here today along with Bob Ryan, and Arch. It's just not the same without them.

  11. I know I wasn't born when KDFW had the Eyewitness News name back in the 70s and early 80s. I remember KDFW had the Nightbeat name for its 10pm newscast from 1990-95. And WFAA had The Update until it was dropped.
