I've reached out to Vimeo with no response - I've not received any notices (and I checked my email history going back years).   The account is just gone...

To me, it's one thing if this was something that could be monetized, but these are historic newscasts - which I pretty much guarantee most of the stations no longer have in their archives.  It's like blocking history from folks.  I could understand if the content were able to be viewed elsewhere (e.g., game shows, cartoons, etc.), but local news is local history that you probably can't get anywhere else.

I challenge you to find a (for example) KCBD newscast from February 1994 in any library or even at KCBD itself...

I'm pissed as I was given no warning, nor remedy.

I guess I need to find a library or something to donate them to, so that they're available for research in the future.  I have thousands recorded, and now do I keep cataloging them or just give up?

    Jim

And do I keep recording them into the future???

Heck - most of the copyright holders of the original content aren't even in existence anymore...

Jim, I have the answer for the one question on where to find a new home... archive.org

  2. Well, it's happening. Cincinnati's FOX 19 (WXIX) is expanding its news once again. Starting September 13th, FOX 19 is adding another hour of news with an addition of a 3PM newscast. FOX 19 News Now at 3pm will be anchored by Chris Riva, Amber Jayanth, and Meteorologist Ashley Smith.

And that's only the beginning, FOX 19's Saturday morning newscast will also begin an hour earlier starting this fall, and it will air from 7:00-10am rather than 8:00-10am.

With is move, WXIX will provide 68.5 hours a week of live local news, more than any other station in the market.

According to other media outlets it sadly appears Christopher Sign took is own life 😔

It really makes me real sad that local broadcasters taken their own lives whether they suffering from depression, stress, or thoughts of suicide. We lost many of our favorite local personalities due to suicide and I'm not going to name name's out of respect to the deceased. I said it before and I'm going to say again, If you know someone you love (Family and/or Friends) who's suffering from depression and have thoughts of suicide, please call National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. They're here to help.
