ID Junkie's compliation of WEAR-TV..even though its Sinclair..they have had some great stuff certainly considering how unique of a station it is.

Loved the "Clearly Yours" era of Channel 3 and the seagull as part of the logo. I watched that station a lot as a kid in Pascagoula, Miss.

In the early 1980s, Memphis' WMC did a promo series dubbed "Friendly 5", which based on the comments, was pretty popular by viewers in the market. There were a few versions of it:

*The main "Carriage Promo", featuring promo composer Floyd Huddleston and Jimi Jameson of the group Survivor.

*The "Summer Fun" promo featuring meteorologist Dave Brown and folks having fun outdoors.

*And the "Marching Band Promo", featuring the then-Memphis State marching band, whom played the entire theme instead of studio musicians.

No sir, I don't like it the new ticker... too boring. Which means ESPN is probably in for another big graphics package change.

I like it. It reminds me of the old ESPNNEWS look.

WDSU is jumping into the noon newscast frenzy starting September 3. Charles Divins and Gina Swanson will anchor while Kweilyn Murphy will do the weather.

OK, you whippersnappers... try halfway through 53. You'll be wanting that 20 or 30 back, I'm sure.

Karla Redditte will be taking over for Sabrina Squire at WWBT. I'm glad they decided to promote from within, rather than an outside hire. It seems more natural to have an already familiar face to viewers take over for a retiring anchor, meteorologist, etc.

Good for her! I remember when she was at WLOX.

WLBT received a marker on the Mississippi Freedom Trail Wednesday. The station's actions during the Civil Rights Movement is well-known.

To be fair, what Belo did to WWL's logo for a few months post-Katrina was an abomination. This slight tweak imho is not so bad....

 

And speaking of Tegna changing up logos, why did they leave "ZZM's basically alone? I have often thought if they had adopted WKYC's "SlashSlant 3" and added a 1, that'd look good.

Damn, TEGNA's changing logos like crazy. They should have left WWL's alone.

WWL will be getting the new look sometime next month; I saw an ad before the weather segment of the 10 pm newscast promoting a new look for the morning show.

Bombshell right, now that’s a surprise morning announcement from Sally.

I was actually expecting it. I was wondering who would be first: Sally-Ann or Eric Paulsen? You know he's next (been at the station roughly the same time as Sally-Ann).

Sheba Turk should take Sally-Ann's spot, but knowing management, it wouldn't surprise me to see Leslie Spoon get it.

WWL morning anchor Sally-Ann Roberts just announced her retirement, effective February 28. She's been with the station since 1977.

Only two public television stations that I can think of offer 24-hour weather coverage. KTCA is one of them and since September, they've rebranded their 24-hour weather channel as "TPT NOW" and if you ask me... the new look is really good.

That does look good. The Weather Channel should have done something similar instead of the Windows 8 look.
