WTHR from 1986 with open about 2:00 in with "People You Can Count On" a la WBNS:
-
It truly is! I'm sure the WTSP use of NewsCenter II outside of image campaigns is as invalid and unknown as WFLA using Part of Your Life in the same manner.
Well, we know for a fact they did use Part of Your Life, likely starting in 1977, so I find it unlikely they didn't use it as their news theme. But no opens have surfaced. Yet.

We can pretty much debunk that they used Hello News during that time but I have no clue what the theme they used was so I'm going to report to SouthernMedia the theme as "WFLA 1981 Theme".
"Mr. NMSA" told me that someone reported hearing "Hello News" around the 1981 Super Bowl on NBC. In a similar way, I know that WTSP didn't use "NewsCenter II Theme" as I thought they did. But they did use the "We're the Team" promotional campaign.
This is probably the biggest find ever for the Tampa/St. Pete market.

Long awaited WTSP 1991 clip from the 1989-92 "NewsCenter 10" era, which had excellent production values. Shortly after this clip, in January 1992, WTSP debuted it's "simple red line" era graphics and a new set and logo

WJHG in Panama City, FL, from 1987:
For a small market, it's very well produced

NMSA added a full sample of the "WKRC 1979 News Theme". Very dramatic late 70's theme.

That noon open is an unholy marriage of eras. The production music in the tease is in the NMSA actually, as "WBNS 1994".
I've been trying to track down that music used by WBNS from 1993-96. Must be production music. WBNS used the crap out of it in the mid '90s for opens/closes/promos.

WZZM 1977 open with "MCTYW"

Alpenstock is the name under which a bunch of Klein & work is registered. KTVY "Going All Out for Oklahoma", KYW's "3 for All", a theme titled "Straight from the Heart" dating to 1986, "Go For It Ballad" (which is probably WDIV's Go 4 It campaign), "Cincinnati Style", and "In the Great Northwest".
I wonder if this KIRO image spot (starts at 6:14) features "In the Great Northwest" from 1979:
OR it could be "Spirit of the Great Northwest". Either way, would be nice to figure out where that came from.

The production values are superb! They were using all the video effects available. Great unknown theme. Also Carol LeBeau is the co-anchor. Great find.

There's a WJAR 1985 news open at 12:24 on this video. It features the "WJAR 1986" theme that I assume must have debuted in 1984:
-
Great sample posted of KNBC's 1982-85 package by Tuesday on the NMSA.

Not sure where to post this...
Nice update on the NMSA. An open from WCKT with "Count on Us" has surfaced. Would love to see that.
Also, Gavin/Conners was finally credited on the 1977 WBNS theme.

Nice promo for WTHR from 1984. No music, but it does feature the slogan, "the News Specialists:
NBC's 1983 affiliate theme still in action at WTHR in 1984:
-
Ahh! Great detective work. Wow did WTHR go through themes in the 80s.
It appears they only used "Hello News" from 1980-82. They moved into their current building in 1982 and I suspect that's when they picked up the KSL theme (News Specialists?). It seems they adopted the WBNS "People You Can Count On" theme around 1985 and used until 1987 when that custom theme debuted.

OK, here's a WTHR 1986 open with "People You Can Count On":
Also, take a look at this. It features the unknown WTHR 1987 theme.. Notice the slogan at the end: "Proud to Call It Home":

This clip is interesting. It's from WTHR in January 1987. Listen to the bumpers. It's not "Hello News". It's "People You Can Count On" a la WBNS. Wish we could find an open.
