Any bets on him showing up at another station? My bet is on WUSA.

How about one of DC's news icons on DC's #1 station for news? 11am co-anchor on WRC with Barbara Harrison? But they have too many anchors as it is!

  2. None of these channel shuffles have taken place. The only change is WBFF 45.3 Bounce became affiliated with WMAR. ThisTV airs on 45.2.

I take it since you cross posted this in Speculatron that these are your theories.

Trying not to complain, but I've noticed as of late that cross-posting is happening quite a bit. Isn't it better to pick the best thread for it and just stick it there? Or at least if it's gonna be double posted, change it up a bit so that it's tied more specifically to each thread. And pure speculation (with not even an ounce of fact such as the above) should be kept in speculatron forum. Just my two cents...

Wow. I had the impression that Kai was going to be the "heir apparent" for Gordon Peterson at WJLA.

I thought that as well. I'm now thinking that Sinclair wants to go with someone familiar to viewers in the market to help them out of the ratings ditch. WJLA only became a Sinclair station in August and I doubt they have had much exposure to Kai.

Interestingly enough, Kai was co-anchoring today on WJLA's noon news (I assume the morning news as well).

  4. Good for you  And I found my info from the CBS philly website itself wasn't that hard to do.

It just seemed like you were questioning my initial post, as if I was imagining things or making them up. I am sorry if I misinterpreted what you were trying to say.

  5. Well, just when I was about to say it seems the chair is Cecilia's to lose, in comes Tom who does a pretty good job. Perhaps anchoring WNT weekend was the gig he was referring to when he mentioned a few months ago that he was leaving WNBC to take a "coveted job in network news." If that's the case, it would make sense that they allowed him to become acclimated to ABC and to viewers for a couple months before sticking him in the chair. Who knows.

Let's see who anchors next weekend...

And next weekend will be two nights of WNT weekend (at least in eastern/central) as I believe there is no 3:30 college football game on ABC.

  6. From what I found seems he only anchored on Sunday Mornings and reported the rest of the time.

I think at the time he anchored weekend mornings was during the era where CBS3 had cut Saturday mornings. He may have left before Saturday mornings returned. As for filling in, he's filled in for Ukee weekday mornings and also for Natasha on weekend evenings. Regardless of what you "found", I live in the Philly DMA and have seen it with my own eyes.

  7. I'm sure in due time we'll see Ben anchoring the evening news. And would a station in the #1 market really hire someone who was a street reporter in Philadelphia to anchoring a prime time newscast? I think WNYW played it safe by placing him in the mornings before promoting him to evenings (That's if he actually stays around long enough to find out)

He was actually a anchor/reporter in Philly. He anchored weekend mornings and was a fill-in on weekday mornings.

  8. For now it looks like "Hot Bench" created by Judge Judy is going to be the new 2pm show next fall on WBBM. That could always change in the next 10 months.

    Already made that observation.

I've read that CBS O&Os may pick up Hot Bench as a replacement. Could also see WBBM airing The Insider with a second showing of ET, Millionaire, or even Inside Edition (yes I know WLS has a had it forever).

As for WLS, I wonder if they would end up cutting more news to make room for The F.A.B.? Like moving Jeopardy to 4:30, and dumping Inside Edition, or moving it to either 11:30am or 12midnight.

  9. If they don't come up with anything, I can bet you that they'll just dump a second run of Judge Judy, like they've done many times before. I also wouldn't rule out a return of 'Rachael Ray', as ABC 7 needs to free up an hour for 'The Fab' (God help us), and has already stated that 'Windy City Live' and the IE/J! combo are safe.

  10. KNXV also has the Cardinals (and KWBA in Tucson is their station in Southern Arizona). That said, Monday/Thursday games tend to air on KTVK (the opening MNF game did, for instance; not sure on what's up with the Thursday night St. Louis game in a couple weeks).

I think CBS struck some kind of deal that the remaining Thursday games be aired locally by the CBS affiliates.

  11.

Imagine if your employer told you to work a 7 day work week.

Yes, I would not want to do that. But not sure where you got the idea that I was implying that, as I am fairly certain that Sharrie only works Monday thru Friday currently. So adding the Friday noon is not adding an additional day. Adding Saturday evenings would make it a six day work week (not seven), but they could give her off Mondays so that she would remain at 5 days per week.
  12. I've noticed that Sharrie now seems to have a bigger purpose on the 5pm show - and they cut to her now without an introduction or conversation, as if it was a 3-person team. However, she doesn't do as much as a regular anchor and she is not included in any of the voiceovers or end-of-the-show shots.

They should have her co-anchor Fridays at noon and Saturday evenings.

  13. I always thought having them go solo was weird.

Saw it on 22 West between Airport Rd and the Lehigh River bridge. One of the big digital signs.

I also wonder if any of the 4pm parts will be the Berks Edition. It would be interesting to seem them do an actual 1-hour show. The 5 & 5:30 and 10 & 10:30 shows are separate in that they re-start at the half hour and name it Berks Edition.

Googled it and came across this: https://m.facebook.com/69WFMZ/photos/a.10151341241565557.828681.37677635556/10154642932295557/?type=1&source=44&refid=17

Seems it'll be same setup as 5&10, with part of it LV and the other part Berks.

  14. I saw a billboard ad today that WFMZ is starting a 4pm newscast with Jim Vaughn and Melanie Falcon (who do the Saturday morning news). Coming "this fall". I'm not sure what "this fall" means, because they currently air the talk show The Doctors at 4pm everyday. Perhaps they will move it. They air Dr. Phil at 8 pm and Steve Harvey at 9 pm daily.

I think they air four episodes of Judge Judy a day. Perhaps they'll cut back to two a day and reshuffle the rest of the line-up?

Hopefully, with Jim & Melanie on at 4pm, they will utilize them as fill-ins on the 5,6,&10, instead of solos when one anchor is off.

    Where'd you see the billboard?

  15.

Hold on, I think WABC did a soft launch of an hour of full news at noon today. I have video here to prove it. The weather was done at 12:36 pm. Click on the forecast video.

I know the President spoke today starting sometime in the 11am hour. Don't know what time it ended but it could be possible that that pushed the noon news start time back a little, hence the late weather?
  16. That said I can see them installing a video wall backdrop like a few of their sister stations have adopted and doing something about that monitor array that never really served any purpose.other than as a backdrop to some standups

I was thinking the same thing.

  17. Ted was a good addition for them. Being a weekday evening meteorologist was something he can't pass with. Best of luck for him!

Isn't that where they based the newscasts when they went to their current studio back in December 2008? It makes sense to update it in someway now since the set will have been in existence for 9 years in 2017.

Lastly, I'm just wondering how 10's fall daytime lineup is going to look.. Is it news at 11, Days at noon, Meredith at 1, Steve at 2, and Ellen at 3?

Pretty sure that is the lineup.
