I wouldn't put my money on it. It's fairly easy to change the site over. It's more effort for the new look to launch because Gannett is standardized on completely different equipment from Belo and all that has to be installed first.

The one constant: both companies used ENPS so that's one thing that won't be switched over.

The one thing I hope KENS gets out of this: all-digital tapeless shooting and editing. Yes they still shoot and edit on tape, so field footage naturally isn't HD but it's stretched to make it look HD.

To the web end: All Gannett sites are managed through http://www.gannett-cdn.com/ (A Gannett Media Technologies International data system), while all former Belo sites are managed through Broadcast Media Interactive. I suspect that the contract with BMI is ending soon and KVUE is the test station. Furthermore, GMTI is a separate branch of Gannett than the broadcasting division. Yes, they provide branding services, but the two (Gannett Graphics Group/Gannett Broadcasting and GMTI) are separate mechanisms in a large machine.

KREX lost everything in a fire at the station a few years ago. I'm curious if they redid that graphics pack in-house because they had no choice.

But prior to the fire, KREX's logo was a verbatim copy of WEWS's 2004 logo.

KREX is using the VDO package that both WPSU and KOMU are using.

  3. I have noticed, as I'm sure you have too, a preponderance of graphic packages being knocked off. In fact, it's become so bad in recent years that I thought creating a new thread was in order so that we may critique the major gaffs made when knocking off packages or applauding their work (in very rare instances).

Below are a list of knockoffs I've found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1l2N8A5QH4 (Knockoff of these from KUSA:

    )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJItPpRdWNc (This well-known gem is a knockoff of Look F with Look B elements)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgvysZGyGX4 (An attempted knockoff of Look G)

(Another station trying to knockoff the Belo graphics and they stole the KVUE logo!)

I already know that there are other knockoffs like KNOE, KHSL, WKYT, etc... Share your knockoffs and opinions here!

  4. :ack:

I'm sure any new package will be created by the WFAA guys. I mean, the Belo package was, and Gannett didn't have a good graphics design team until now.

And I'm saying that G3.0 still isn't wonderful. They've created 1, and have modified 2 mediocre graphics packages.

I wanted BELO Graphics Group to take over, but NO. G3 just hired more graphics staff and are doing a large office renovation at KUSA, for what I presume is expanded offices for G3. Too bad, too. :/

I mean I think we're discussing something that isn't likely for at least a few years but I agree they'd probably bring it down to three teams. First of all I really don't think Diana would go back to the 11.. But I don't know.. You have to remember the New York news isn't the same on any channel anymore.. Most have new younger ppl coming in.. It's the start of a new generation here.. I don't see why David couldn't be the lead male anchor in the future because unless the other stations get someone else by then he's still the strongest.. But anyway why not this? By the way.. Who ever said Bill would be the first to leave?

    4,6 David and Liz

    5 Diana and Sade

    11 David and Sade

Unless Rob leaves, how about bumping him to anchor at 4? He's been vying for the position of anchor.

Is the music really NBC News Collection NG5? Or could it be an updated/new theme from Groove Worx?

Have you heard the NBC Look F Orchestration demo on the GMG site? Compare the two. They are very similar. Yes. This is NG5, and will likely premiere soon to replace the KNBC News package at WNBC.

  7.

My question is will wnbc use this new package for their newscasts? I think they should and while their at it incorporate a talent open.

I have a feeling that, at least for WNBC, Look F will be changing to this Look F.2. WCBS has premiered their graphics which i'm sure many folks have confused with the Look F.1. I think WNBC will want to stand out and Look F.2 is different enough that there will be no confusion.

The one thing that I must say is that NG 5 sounds pretty damn awesome!! I like the flute tremolo part at the beginning and the powerful french horn part.

I don't remember if the picture of the original configuration of the WNBC 3C set ever got out, but in case it didn't, I found this photo of shortly after it was dismantled. The original configuration had 24 46" thin-bezel monitors making up a massive monitor wall where the vertical plasmas are now. The set was finished, lit, and cameras were starting to be moved in when the decision to redo it came down. The monitors put into crates and wheeled away.

    Dang that's a tiny studio!

Considering that WABC has added new animated transitions to its current graphics package in the last couple of weeks I was not expecting them to change the package.

I noticed they are using a new fast transition graphic with very annoying loud sound effects. Some of them are to fast for me and the sound effects are to loud and not needed.

The one at the start and 6 seconds almost sounds like the FOX News Alert sound effect.

    Everything is new at 11.
