Anyone who had Tong/Blackmon in the anchor team pool can collect their winnings at the window. Anybody? No one?

Can't judge what I don't watch. If what I'd think they look like is anything close to reality, they're probably not good.

Really, though, all three networks' special report graphics are bad. NBC's are serviceable, but VERY outdated. The latest CBS package is pretty bad, and doesn't go with any of the network's other well-designed looks (but the CBS This Morning graphics blow chunks compared to the earlier packs). As for ABC, they haven't had a good look in that department since 2009 (1/2) or 2010, if you count the FIRST version based off WN's '09 pack (before they tweaked the scale, fonts, and coloring). Seeing as this year's revamp of World News Tonight is a huge step up from the red, white and puke look, I'm optimistic that new special report graphics should be an improvement, and I'd imagine we'll see a change by the State of the Union next month...if not before then.

No, "i before e" is a saying goes back decades, if not centuries.

I can't imagine that this was the first time somebody goofed her name. Between the 'I' and the 'k', and the vowels in her surname, nearly every part of her name is begging to be misspelled. Doesn't make it right, but still...

I'd imagine he's on like a 10 to 12-hour window of availability, say like 6 or 7am when GMA starts to like 5 or 6pm (ET) when all east coasters go to local news and David begins to prep for WNT. If my serves me well, Peter Jennings would be around and available in a similar type of span, not popping up for reports until after the GMA crew was off the hook, and he'd be around (when warranted, under "normal" circumstances) til 11pm when affiliates would go to late news. Where the GMA anchors of old would cover morning special reports, David Muir now does the same in the evening hours.

No, I get it. As for coverage, it's been better than I thought. They've had a tendency over the years (especially during the latter part of Emily Barr's tenure) to go to long on a subject and beat a dead horse. The reporting on this has been well-balanced within the broadcasts. As for the controversial decisions on airing the police footage, they went rather conservative showing it very few times, and considering they received a leaked copy hours before the official release, it's commendable that they didn't go too nuts with it. All this considered, there are two other operations in town that would've crammed it down your throat for shock value if in a similar situation. Heck, I heard that the folks at the bottom of the dial ran the video over and over in a loop, which is about as tasteful as you'd expect. Personally, and I know how terrible this sounds, the video was not hardly as graphic as anybody thought (though still very sad and jarring), and that's likely had an impact on how it's been covered.

It's definitely worse tonight, but the weather is better, more people are available with more time to "plan", so it's not too surprising. As is frequently the case, the tonight's crew at the Christmas tree are doing nothing to help their cause in the court of public opinion. ...But that's another discussion for another thread on another forum that I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.
-
Nothing was adjusted. They were passing the studio around 7, and that broadcast went off fine. They relocated by the city Christmas tree after that and some made fools of themselves there pulling strings of lights off.

Fixed the link. I'd be interested to see what would happen to the numbers if WGN got out at 10, but that won't happen anytime soon. Would 7 and 2 (to a lesser extent) rebound, or would those viewers abandon the time slot? Otherwise, 5 and 7's demo numbers are on-par with recent months, so I don't think either of those two are surprised, or even too disappointed...considering these numbers are didn't really deviate from the October books.

Eh, I'm just going to leave this here instead of starting a new thread. Sweeps are all but over, and the results are not surprising. WLS is down big in total viewers (-1.3), likely robbed by a dead last WGN. WMAQ was up a tick in total, and held a 0.1 lead in the demo (which is likely why WLS went solid for 20 minutes tonight at 10). WBBM barely beat WGN for third. http://www.bizjournals.com/chicago/news/2015/11/24/wls-channel-7-maintains-top-ranking-in-late-local.html

But they can't simulcast Fox NFL games on their stations. It works with ESPN and NFLN because they're on cable. Fox doesn't show games on FS1. If your regional team is playing it's already on the air on local TV in your market.
-
Why/how the hell would they do that? And don't say to make up for bad journalism, because the two should have no bearing on the other.
-
Because it's market #145 and money isn't flowing through the industry like it used to.

'Fox & Friends' co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving the network, and, for now, television to spend more time with her family. http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/elisabeth-hasselbeck-stepping-down-at-fox-news/278202

He'll step in for Phil on the later hours on Sunday, and most Saturday nights in Phil's absence. He'll pop up on the occasional Sunday night, but rarely both nights. He's also done a lot of field reporting during weekday storm coverage, and did the few tag teams with Tracy last winter, when Phil was off himself or in for Jerry or Cheryl. That said, he's never done a solo fill-in M-F. Compared to his predecessor, Mark Bishop, Troy has done far more weekend evening fill-ins in 2 years than Mark did in 8. Mark also NEVER appeared on weekdays, as he was a professor during the week.
-
And then he was George Clooney for three straight years. That jackhole didn't make a movie this year, so they had to plan accordingly.
-
Troy does 5 to 6am. Phil does 6 to 10.

They have a job listing on their website for a meteorologist. As for Cheryl being on this morning, they probably established that she lives closest. Whether or not she was needed- eh, I'm split on the decision. Phil was also on at noon today, as they're doing hourly online updates.

Yeah, the Rob Nelson/Diana Perez combo was pretty much the last "fun" team, in my opinion. Dare I say, the male anchors tend to be a little looser, in recent years, and Reena, though pleasant, only proves my point. Kendis Gibson is pretty good, but he's just not as laid back as T.J.

Never oversleep when working at the WGN Morning News. You will be outed.

The two overnight hosts just gave a tour of the TSS, and featured some of very interesting nuts and bolts facts from 29-year show veteran 'Stage Manager Eddie', including the recent renovations, the best ad-libber, and the origins of "Hail Charlie". Someone remind me to explain those things later. It was some insightful stuff for those of us interested in the behind the scenes stuff. Now to get 3 hours of sleep before the show.
