By the looks of David's (station-custom) pre-recorded tease, I'm not holding my breath for anything new tonight.
-
This should be...interesting. ABC doesn't have the best track record, for sure.
-
CLTV "Sports Feed" co-host Josh Frydman is doing sports for Rich this evening. Once a producer for the station, this is the first time, to my knowledge, that he's filled in on the mothership.

The city of Chicago announced a new New Year's Eve event on the downtown riverfront, and NBC 5 has been given the broadcast rights, going head to head with ABC 7 for the first time in decades. http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/7654-nbc-5-to-broadcast-live-local-new-year-s-eve-program A comment I saw online: "So instead of Mark Giangreco slobbering over Janet Davies we'll get to see Mark Adamle slobbering over Alison Rosati? Doesn't sound like an upgrade."

To be clear, it's actually going to be 'MTP Daily'. The abbreviation is a formality, not a convenience. It's meant to be tied to the brand, without literally making it into a 6-day a week program.

Yup. Thanks for sharing!
-
As he did on 'Midday'.

With all due respect, so what? The ladies state their opinions everyday, and at least one person is bound to disagree or be offended. I'm sorry whatever they said rubbed you the wrong way, but it really has nothing to do with that thread...but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, and it's pretty bad...

It's unofficially official. Irika Sargent of WFOR will join Rob Johnson as 5, 6, and 10pm co-anchor beginning October 19th. http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/09/15/cbs-2-bets-on-anchor-irika-sargent/ For anyone wondering, Feder included the roller coaster of anchor line-ups this century. In the 15 years prior to this list, there were only 3 anchor teams and 4 different anchors...

WLS toured a new hiking trail for their demo, and brought it out again a month or so ago to tour a massive underground reservoir. I think the point being made is that, in addition to tight regulations, it's not viable to use for breaking news. If I recall correctly, the drones can't go above 200 feet, come within 5 miles of an airport, and the pilot cannot lose sight of the device. That severely limits its applications in urban settings like Chicago, Philly, or New York.

Yeah, the 11:30 update is likely permanent, and it does kind of make sense. I mean, barring any major updates, why not merge the 11 and noon, seeing as the content is virtually the same. It also allows WCL a little more airtime, and eliminating the host banter with the anchor or Tracy makes editing a little easier. It also allows the show to have a legit open, and not something fused together for that midnight rebroadcast. Speaking of overnights, it looks like the 10pm rebroadcast will survive Rachael Ray's move to late night. The news will move back to it's longtime 1:07am slot, while Rachael will follow at 1:37, cutting 30 minutes off of World News Now.

With ratings in free-fall, CBS 2 is on the verge of dumping Kate Sullivan from the evening newscasts. While all of this is still rumor, Feder has the scoop... http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/09/13/robservations-anchors-away-at-cbs-2/

On 7, I wouldn't say worse. The content and general presentation has seemed to rebound some over the last few months. I've never been one to stomach NBC 5, as I'm not a fan of their anchor and sports rosters and their theme, though the update to Look F is incredibly nice. If it had a bit more variety, I'd put their look ahead of ABC 7. I never realized how much of WGN's charm was in their music, and outside of mornings, it's really rough. Also, Micah Materre's shtick has gotten incredibly tired, and Suppelsa can't even outweigh her, anymore. Therefore, I have no real interest in any of their weekday evening product. I don't think things are as bad at Fox as they were, if only due to some recent stability (and really nothing else). CBS 2, unlike all other stations, is in a complete tail-spin, with no visible effort being made to stop the bleeding. It's like they don't even notice.

Dare I say, if Barr hadn't been so set in her ways, and letting stuff go borderline stale, we wouldn't be having the rip-off-the-band-aid changes we've seen recently. And, to be honest, everybody's gone downhill, it's just more noticeable when you've been away for awhile. For example, I watched a full edition of WGN's 9 o'clock news the other night, and I could barely get through it. That said, nobody is Fox-bad, yet.

I think we have another Jim Gardner reaction shot for the archives. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10156107947590094

I've uploaded the new 4 & 10pm headline cues, and, in turn, deleted that crappy, unlisted copy from a few days ago.
-
They're a little too wide for a title bar like that, but they do pop up in other places.
-
They did the headline cue properly today, before the open, and changed the graphic, again.
-
The 4 o'clock news wanted to get in on the cold open fun, but you could say they got things a little backwards. Theme first, then the headline cue. It doesn't flow well, at all. I do wonder, though, if these new/updated graphics opening the 4 and 10 are previewing a slight refresh, or if these will somehow be incorporated with the new set.
-
I'm watching the fourth hour, and I'm not noticing anything new. Is the update only during the first 2 or 3 hours? EDIT: Never mind... http://www.today.com/video/caitlyn-jenner-talks-transition-while-golfing-with-matt-lauer-522128451840 I can't say I like them over the outgoing graphics. Kind of a lateral move. I was hoping for something that matches the opening headlines, unless that changed, too.

As far as I know, WABC is doing the same thing, with 'Millionaire' at 1/:35am-ish. The game show will also be airing on WLNY, apparently.

My only guess is that they might be looking at a more seasoned individual, and instead of demoting Brittney upon the hiring, they're making the switch now? Eh, maybe?
