  1. "I don't want to be a fetus. I already did that once." "Would you rather have MY baby kangaroo in YOUR pouch?" -Everybody's Favorite Outspoken Sportscaster And no, nothing here is taken out of context. It means exactly what it says.
  2. Yes.
  3. 184 market jump? Better be good.
  4. Anna Davlantes is in for Val on WCL today, meaning that she's a CBS agreement away from being professionally connected to all 5 major stations.
  5. He who starts the fire should be the one to put it out. The tattoo must have been fake, or there's a ton of make-up on it today, but I'm leaning toward the latter.
  6. She was off until Wednesday or Thursday, and came back sporting a little something on the inside of her right forearm. I wasn't quite sure what it was at first, but her sleeves last night were short enough to give a decent view. See for yourself... "Faith" This is, to my knowledge, ABC 7's first openly-tattooed anchor combo (remember when that was a thing?), though we can't be sure what Fahey and Joel were hiding behind those blue blazers.
  7. Phil's hangin' with the kiddies (and his family) at Lollapalooza. By the way, did anyone notice Cheryl Burton's new tattoo's that clear as day in the two-anchor shot? Now that I've noticed it, it's hard to stop looking it at.
  8. Completely different is a bit of a stretch, and I'd sooner say by the end of NEXT year.
  9. Senior food analyst?
  10. (39 on the bio page) - (John Idler) + (Elgas, Christensen, Hernandez, Thoren) = 42 - (Ryan & Val, depending on if you consider them news) = 40
  11. Okay, time to start taking wagers! Alan and Ron are both off. Hosea anchored with Linda at 4, and Rob is joining Cheryl at 5. So, assuming that Kathy IS anchoring tonight, who joins her at 10, Hosea, Rob, or Cheryl?
  12. Chenault-Fattah is telling her side of the story, a lot sooner than I would of expected... http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wcau-anchor-explains-role-in-husbands-indictment/152807
  13. Geez, they're really beefing up, lately... http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/7538-abc-7-adds-reporter-laura-thoren It should be noted that, based on her current appearance, Jessica D'Onofrio is likely going on maternity leave about that time. She's been working afternoons the last couple of weeks.
  14. I think they're banking on George for a number of years. Of course, they need some sort of emergency plan, but grooming a formal successor shouldn't be a top priority, and it would look a little bad.
  15. Says you.
  16. Crazy thoughts... Paula Faris joins 'The View', and leaves the weekend show, despite previous reports. Amy moves to the weekend show (yes, demoted). Josh returns to the main show. Strahan/Palmer/both exit the show. I will say, despite his now-legendary ego, Josh was a really good fit on the show. He had a fantastic on-air with each member of the team. Of course, his bromance with Sam was strongest, but he had a great sibling-like goofy side with Lara, a similar ascent into news that endeared him to Robin, and Josh was literally the anti-George for good balance, but with enough journalistic chops to hold his own. A return might just be what the doctor ordered.
  17. I was surprised to find that there isn't a general thread for the CBS Evening News. Yes, I know we've all been encouraged to cut back on broad-topic discussions, but the other network newscasts have their own threads, and I didn't think this tidbit warranted it's own dedicated thread and didn't fit into an existing topic. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anyway, Jane Pauley's going to be anchoring the broadcast tonight, her first since joining the network as a contributor last year. http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/jane-pauley-to-anchor-cbs-evening-news/268530
  18. If you can't see the difference, I don't know what to tell you.
  19. The old one, in comparison...
  20. Eh...not really. If the 5 wasn't airing, they probably would've closed it like any other show, but since the next newscast was being produced, they figured the normal transition was the logical route.
  21. Nope, completely normal. Just the Luna plug.
  22. Nothin' special. They closed like normal, 5pm toss/tease and all, but the 4 o'clock included a reminder before the hand-off.
  23. In what is likely a first, Eyewitness News at 4 will be tonight's only afternoon newscast...on ABC 7. With a scheduled Cubs game today at 11:30, the station is also airing a make-up game at the weird time of 5, sending the 5 and 6pm newscasts and World News Tonight to 7.2 and the station's website. I've got the DVR set, because when have we ever seen a formal close to the news at 4?
  24. For anyone who can't read minds, Cheryl and Troy are on this afternoon with storm coverage. WFLD broke in for a few minutes and NBC 5 is on with Byron and probably Alicia.
  25. The View is under the news umbrella. If it goes, expect a third hour of GMA, even if it isn't attached to the mother ship.
