  1. First thing that crossed my mind.
  2. When the sports guy's away, the others will play...
  3. I haven't seen Reali on the show in months, so I think that arrangement fell apart. ESPN college analyst Jesse Palmer seems to be filling both Tony and Tebow's former roles. He's been on most days that Strahan isn't there, and I like him.
  4. ESPN's 'Mike & Mike' morning show will be moving from Bristol to Times Square in the near future, creating a partnership with 'Good Morning America'. Hosts and personalities from the two programs will crossover and make appearances given the right opportunity, but guest bookings are playing a key role in the move, as well. http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/espns-mike-mike-moving-to-new-york-closer-to-gma/262497
  5. Yeah, only the open changed. It looks very good, but it doesn't match the in-show graphics. The theme also got a reorchestration, dropping much of the percussion and strings for a cool electric guitar accompaniment. It sounds great in the headline bed, but leaves much as be desired in the open, as much of the theme's hook was lost with the dumped instrumentation.
  6. Nothing much interesting me on here this week. Nothing that I would effectively contribute to, anyway.
  7. I'm sure video will be posted, but ABC 7 is jumping into the drone pool. Freelance ABC 7 (and CBS 2, apparently) photographer Colin Hinkle has been given an official FAA license to operate a drone, and his model is equipped with an HD camera and live streaming capabilities. This is enough for the station to create a "DRONE CAM - LIVE" graphic to display during its use. Law states that it cannot be used within 5 miles of airports or above 200 feet, and operators are discouraged (it may be illegal, too) from using it over large groups of people. Frankly, I'm not sure how viable it will be considering the legal limitations, and it is not ABC 7's property, but hey, it's sweeps. Go nuts. http://abc7chicago.com/news/drone-flies-over-nearly-ready-bloomingdale-trail-/703738/
  8. I had the opportunity to hear most of the new cuts, in their clean, unadulterated form. They're very nice, and while I generally like the '07 originals better, it's a shame they're not using the updates across the board. But, apparently the higher ups aren't as enthusiastic about the new cuts as the last regime.
  9. Didn't really watch any of the A-blocks tonight, too busy with KTRK. They have used WPVI's Kenneth Moton several times, though, but I wouldn't be shocked if Travers' reports have popped up, too.
  10. "Atlanta...just one of America's crap cities." "Spank me!" -You know who
  11. My inner graphic geek and weather geek are colliding. NEW WEATHER GRAPHICS!
  12. "Magers breaks out in a rash if he goes to the suburbs." -Mark Giangreco
  13. WLS has been upgrading to the Nissans over the last year. Wait until they show it in promos and on social media and people start bitching about it not being an American vehicle.
  14. BREAKING: He's wearing a different shirt and tie (the suit is dark, so I can't tell if that's changed). This is not a drill!
  15. We need to summon SuitSnob.
  16. No, no. I see it, too. And, I'll be damned if those lapels don't look very similar, too. Taking into account that the late news has more blue-ish lighting, I'd guess that's the same suit, too. All kidding aside, hopefully everything is okay. Maybe he had a laundry mishap, messing up today's outfit, forcing him to use yesterday's pieces that might have still been at 190 North...which is airing one of its semi-regular episodes this weekend, BTW. (Great segue, I know.)
  17. Former WFLD anchor Robin Robinson is joining CBS-owned WBBM Newsradio as a fill-in anchor. This comes almost two months after appearing on WBBM for the February municipal elections and CBS2 during a debate. She worked as a weekend anchor at WBBM-TV in the mid-80's alongside Lester Holt. http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/04/16/wbbm-newsradio-hires-robin-robinson/
  18. This is really random, pointless, and a waste of a post, but is he wearing the same tie in both images? I ask because the image on the left is from last night, and the other is from today. It's kind of odd to me that, working in television, (1) the anchor wouldn't notice his tie choice, and (2) someone working with him wouldn't notice. I dunno, call me crazy.
  19. "Ya call those 'cheap hotel' shorts, 'cause there's no ballroom." -Mark Giangreco The less context, the better.
  20. LATE BREAKING: Saturday newscast gets scrubbed. Nobody notices til Tuesday, nor do they care. http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/04/14/technical-glitch-aborts-fox-32-newscast/
  21. Whippersnapper takes 2nd straight week in total viewers and the demo... http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/evening-news-ratings-week-of-april-6-2/260506
  22. Are they going to air any west coast games this season? If they do, this type of schedule won't be too rare. This comes from a regular viewer of the 'WGN News at Nine at Midnight'.
  23. Before tonight, when was the last time Cheryl filled in for Ron at 10? Seriously, it's been that long.
  24. "The NBA is a game of runs...The Diarrhea League." -Mark Giangreco
  25. I knew that they had gotten a new chopper. I think they ran a few promos, though it wasn't as repetitive as some promos and plugs they've aired. I did not realize, also, that the other one was still around. You'd think having two would be something to brag about.
