  1. I do wish they kept the lower third extended to the right side of the bug like the old ones, and not just cutting off on the left edge of the bug. I'm interested to see the full open. They also could have taken this opportunity to switch to the ABC network font that has found its way into other graphical elements.
  2. What the hell? I watched the show this morning and didn't notice anything. Maybe driving 550 miles in 7 hours yesterday clouded my ability to process things. I don't hate it, for sure. The old pack was getting a little dated, and the changes to the 8 o'clock hour L3's were a pleasant change. These new pieces were previewed by the new 8am open which has been in place for a few months.
  3. That makes no sense, whatsoever. But yes, typically McGill.
  4. He was also in last night. However, I don't think he did the midday show yesterday, as Steve and Dina made it sound like today was his first midday shift this week.
  5. 'Politics Tonight' is usually streamed, so it's possible, but I'd say no purely because of the leagues' online rules and crap. I still don't get the lack of carriage.
  6. 'Sports Feed' with Jarrett Payton and Josh Frydman (WGN sports producer) will debut this weekend on CLTV. The one-hour show will air Sundays through Thursdays at 6pm. Paul Lisnek's 'Politics Tonight' will shift an hour earlier to 5pm, and will retain it's 9:30pm rebroadcast. http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/06/09/cltv-to-kick-off-nightly-sports-feed/
  7. So, this is a thing... https://vimeo.com/123065889 This piece, and the Bulls snippet never made it to air, the former obviously only being relevant on that first day.
  8. Yeah, many would say that having three weekday weather anchors is a unnecessary, but 5 (if not more) of WABC's sister stations have 3, so there is precedent. Three of those five have 7 broadcasts to fill, while the other two have 6. Four air an hour of news on another local station.
  9. I couldn't be bothered to get out of bed in time for the start of the show, but here's the 12:30 open, talent and all... [yt]lYtfaMX7vEo[/yt]
  10. Now that I'm thinking about it, none of the Chicago stations use video in the OTS's on a regular basis. If any do, I'd guess WGN and WMAQ, but again, with no regularity.
  11. I want to say no, but... Yeah, no.
  12. When did I say it was a video? It's just a picture.
  13. Using a screenshot of a prior report in an OTS. That's a new one...
  14. Unless there was some turnover in that first year, I'd assume that this video answers the question... [yt]qkeqkCeMuyw[/yt]
  15. All I've heard is "soon". They're in no rush, supposedly.
  16. She was well-suited for the station she worked for. Let's put it that way.
  17. Alexa Helms has also been let go after like a year or something. Yes, this is how I make references about WFLD. No sources. No details. No f#cks given. Are they still producing news?
  18. Hasn't rolled out to Android, then. But that's not surprising, I guess. Do either of you have a picture or screenshot or something? Never mind, I just looked it up.
  19. Like, they SHOULD get a new one, or they DID get a new one? And, if they did, where'd you see it?
  20. Spirit.
  21. What Chuck did in that selfie was stupid, for sure. If he doesn't put the mask on and something happened to him, there's photographic evidence that he made a silly, reckless decision. Perhaps his bosses confronted him on it later, but something like that likely isn't breaking any of ABC 7's rules. However, if taking these pictures in the engine is against the flight attendant's company/airline policy, then the employees need to be prepared to pay the price. If it's against the rules, then there's merit to the report, unlike the not-speeding-speeding train story.
  22. I do think the third story is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. Ultimately, most of the people complaining online are saying that Goudie is dragging the one flight attendant's name through the ground, but I'd say that's only because her posing sparked the controversy. And, while the complaining public claims it's a right of passage, if the employer doesn't want it, then it's still wrong.
  23. Compared to other investigations, to say Chuck was "crucifying" the flight attendant is a more than little over the top. In the original story, he had been tipped off by several concerned passengers, and took the story to air. The airline told the I-Team that this act by the attendants is against the rules. http://abc7chicago.com/news/ohare-tarmac-photos-land-flight-attendant-in-stew/743723/ In the follow-up a few days later, they rightfully gave all sides another chance to react. They got the opinions of passengers, the airline once more, and also spent a serious chunk of the story giving the flight attendants a voice, all of whom are defending the practice. This report effectively put the story to rest, only opening things up for updates down the line as the airline conducts its own investigation. http://abc7chicago.com/news/flight-attendants-rally-for-colleague-in-engine-photo--/746880/ Again, this is pretty lightweight and standard procedure on Goudie's part.
  24. Initial reports I've seen on Twitter say that KNBC scored a meager 3.6 rating. NBC 5 clocked at massive 26.6...that's 931,000 households. Figure out how bars and restaurants factor into the total, and 5 million individual viewers (or more) is not too far-fetched.
  25. I heard fireworks out here in the suburbs. And the ratings? Probably pretty decent.
