  1. No one has switched. After more than a decade of a rumored standardized package, it'll be VERY clear when somebody debuts the new look.
  2. Alyssa Donovan (WRTV) joins WGN as a meteorologist/reporter. Like almost every other hire, these days, she's a Chicago area native. I wouldn't put too much thought into where she fits, other than a fill-in, but the station is going to be very thin in the weather center, as the holidays approach. Morgan will be on maternity leave til the new year, and Skilling and Konrad get a ton of time off, and that leaves a lot of hours for the other 3 gentlemen, so I'm not surprised they're bringing in someone else.
  3. And I can't imagine that Giangreco wants to return to the evening grind. Everything I've seen from him on Twitter (and conversations he'd have on radio) points to him being content in his forced (semi-)retirement. If he returns anywhere, he'd want to be on his own terms, with flexibility to be himself. The tight, 2-3 minute sportcast, just giving the scores with little room for fun was not particularly enjoyable, anymore.
  4. In before the speculation that NBC5's sportscasts will be farmed out to NBC Sports Chicago, as has been the rumor for a decade or more.
  5. "Jeff Blanzy, Mike Berman and Leila will split the sports anchoring duties [...] The exact rotation will be determined shortly." That doesn't suggest that any rotation will be permanent, so after a handful of stable years, we're back to the platoon sports schedule...AGAIN. Greeeeaaaaaat.
  6. "Did you hear that Foxy, the Fox network fox?"
  7. Ah, don't forget the brief period in 2008 (after the lay-offs and Randy Salerno's death) when Don Schwenneker had a cup of coffee as 5pm weatherman. Might've been at the same time Roseanne co-anchored with Rob at that time.
  8. Albert's bio is now up on CBS 2's website, and it says that he'll be on at 6 & 10pm, presumably leaving MK with the (4 &) 5 o'clock shows. https://chicago.cbslocal.com/personality/albert-ramon/
  9. No, the tweet was written as 5pm Pacific, because Abrams airs at 8ET/7CT, therefore 5 in the west. @Spring Rubber knew what he was saying.
  10. Robb was already slighted when he got passed over for the morning slot. Mary Kay had been serving weeknights for almost 4 years. Hell, she even made it into promos with the other 3 late anchors, when Ryan Baker was still on sports.
  11. EVERYTHING we've seen beyond this demo image says that WABC will only modify their logo (identical to the new WLS logo). And regarding your second point, yes, they coveted the channel 7's. There was a thought that channels 6 and under would eventually be scrubbed, so they pounced on what would've been the lowest/first dial position.
  12. I feel like "out" and "leaving" are two different things.
  13. They were shared to me privately, and no offense to anyone in particular, but there can be some loose lips around here, so no. I'm sure we'll see the final product soon enough, and no, I have to idea of the launch date(s).
  14. About 280 unique entries in my collection of WLS opens, and this is one I've never seen before. The station had used, to my knowledge, little more than a flash of the logo over a wide shot of the set as an open until their WPVI-style 1992 revamp. This clip shows us something rather different. (12/27/78)
  15. I and another forum member have seen a WLS open and lower third demo, and a WABC 11pm teaser promo demo, using this style of animation, with the windowed, collage-like imagery, those shades of blue & yellow, and the arrows. The versions we saw used the old ABC icon, as the new one had only recently been revealed, but that's the only key difference.
  16. After a decade or more of rumors and rumblings, we can officially point to an example of THE ABC O&O standardized graphics. No more speculation and doubt. It's happening. KABC EWNewsmakers Opens.mp4 As I said on the Discord, the insert graphics are unchanged, as the show has always just used the station's current package. The open came now because Marc Brown just took over as anchor.
  17. We're not doing this for every market. Everybody just stop, please.
  18. Not true. Rob left in early 2015, and his 4pm chair remained a cycle of Dick and Rob for like a year until they brought in Patrick Fazio. Stefan was Marion's co-anchor when the 11am news was relaunched.
  19. Yeah, the whole talent shift was weird. It's almost like, in the grand scheme of things, Stefan replaced Dick, but not without displacing every other man one notch down the ladder. But frankly, Zoraida's exit doesn't surprise me. The renewed focus on her well-being, paired with her history of leaving (CNN, anyone?), had me figuring that she'd be hanging it up soon. This soon? No, but the farewell parade seemed on the horizon.
  20. Black is an interesting choice, seeing as it doesn't fit in with the network bug. It's especially puzzling during darker programming. (WLS)
  21. Between images of WLS & WPVI, and a report of change at WTVD, it appears that the network mandate forced the O&O's to change the logos in network promos in time for tonight's new season. I haven't seen anything from non-owned stations.
  22. Nah, the 20/20 bugs have been inconsistent for years. The new logo certainly should've given them the opportunity to fix this, but it's no fault of the rebrand team.
  23. Gaynor Hall succeeds Tonya on the weekend morning News.
