  1. Last I saw on the socials was that Jim is out if the country. Besides, these interviews are frequently granted to those whose profiles are looking to be boosted...and not the guy retiring within a year.
  2. I've been saying for years that between the chemistry, quality, and more breathable format, the weekend evening team has been their best and most consistent. Honestly, that really only truly applies to the male anchors. Outside of Nancy Becker in the mid-70s, every female evening weekender has made it to weekdays (Childers, Esposito, Burns, Perez, and Burton). Sports and weather are spotty, but nearly all have had long careers in Chicago...and I'll save you that list.
  3. Something a little ominous about the line "what’s behind her departure should become clear when we see her next move." Could that be a shift to news, a network sports job, or something about the work environment?
  4. They're stacked in the sports department, and could easily skip hiring anyone to replace her AND Dan, if they really wanted to go cheap. Roan is obviously still there, and Tomasulo probably stays on the morning show, but they still have Payton and Frydman (the favorite for weekends, if they don't hire from outside), plus Chris Boden and Dave Eanet as fill-ins. That said, they've had a job listing posted for a sports anchor for more than a month. That could be just a formality and elevate a current employee, but I doubt they'll go too long without a female on the team. Want to really shake things up? Poach Miller or Chiaverini from 7, since that feels like the pending collision course, when Rose retires, or even pluck Blanzy from 5, whose airtime has been greatly diminished with the promotion of Leila Rahimi to sports director. And I'll throw it out there. Feder had this line about Kaitlin Sharkey leaving Fox32..."What’s behind her departure should become clear when we see her next move."
  5. If Mark were 10 years younger, I think he wouldn't be so negative about the industry, or at least more open to employment options, but a few weeks from turning 70, there's little motivation to go back to the similar grind of nightly sports or daily radio. Remember, his contract would've expired later this year, and he was pretty insistent that he would've retired, at that point.

  7. Of course it's not a mistake. Don't be silly. Also it'll debut when it debuts. Please don't keep posting repetitive screenshots and asking for launch date speculation.
  8. Mark has hinted that he and Jim never had a particularly close bond, and with Jim's close relationship with Cheryl, and being the one to benefit from Mark's dismissal, I'm not too surprised that there's no love lost between them.
  9. That's a valid opinion, but that's just your opinion, of course. By the way, not sure I'd use "fake" to describe GMA. Like, I'm pretty sure the show exists.
  10. Do you have a link of any kind?
  11. I think your dislike of him is weirdly deep. I like him, well enough. Probably not the best we've ever seen, but I'd love for you to give me some hard evidence of how he's a "shitty" meteorologist. What in his basic scientific job performance is specifically "shitty"?
  12. When, hopefully it's not true, but either way, it is nobody's business what "family" thing kept her off the air.
  13. Why the hell would anyone think that they'd even remotely hint at the apparent collapse of her marriage?
  14. Yeah, I'm guessing that it just doesn't make sense to have a set with a bunch of unnecessary clutter, like they had in the living room looks. It worked then, but it just doesn't translate now, especially all the fake plants. I also bet it wouldn't have looked too good in HD. The set that GMA debuted when they went HD took away a lot of the excess stuff, and I do think this still looks pretty handsome. That said, the thing I'm missing in morning TV, these days, is a bit of warmth, which this 2005 set had, along with texture and depth.
  15. As much as I'd root for a new theme to come with it, every theme they've had since they dumped the wonderful '09 version has been a downgrade.
  16. Jack, Bill, Johnny, Greg, Tim, Chet, Al, Mark, Dan, Bruce, Corey, Jon, Mike, other Mark, other other Mark, Darrian, Ryan, Lou, Jim, Marshall, just to name a few. And Leila. You're totally right.
  17. Just 2 years ago, Leila Rahimi was swept out at NBC Sports Chicago. Last year, she joined 670 The Score as midday co-host. Last fall, she hopped on with NBC 5 to fill in some shifts after Siafa Lewis' exit. Now, his lead chair belongs to her. Mike Berman continues on Saturdays, and with Rahimi on Sports Sunday, while Jeff Blanzy is down to just Friday nights. https://www.robertfeder.com/2022/03/22/nbc-5-names-leila-rahimi-main-sports-anchor/
  18. He'll take a 90-second break, and then do his regular show, too.
  19. The most expensive overflow newsroom real estate in the country.
  20. Merri Dee, the trailblazing anchor, reporter, and host, has passed away at 86. https://wgntv.com/news/former-wgn-tv-anchor-reporter-merri-dee-dies-at-86/?fbclid=IwAR2kIFjw8uKd_JvAuITatp_EO07-UlZ8KWe8Fb-hjj3mtcZl3n_U_TqAjI4
  21. Just a scheduling error. The 4pm still exists. As for Ed, his regular car segment hasn't been posted to the station's website since the fall, and I don't believe he's been on the air at all in 2022. He has, however, remained active on Twitter. I don't want to speculate, but he hasn't looked the picture of health, the last several times I'd seen him on-air, but he's also in his mid-60s. Hoping for the best. This appears to be his most recent appearance, based on the station's YouTube page.
  22. It was edited, as a joke, which the original poster should've clarified, when bringing it from the Discord server to the TVNT forum.
  23. Misused as a lukewarm opinion host, I'm going to miss Donlon, but this is an overall positive move for the network. NOT ENOUGH, but going in the right direction, ratings be damned. As for Joe, to be totally honest, there are no immediate vacancies for a 50-something white guy anchor in Chicago, so I'd maybe keep an eye on Portland, where he spent a couple decades at KGW, before his 4-year stint on the northwest side of Chicago.
