In that initial social media post, Mark had said he'd be doing evenings for several weeks. In addition to an obvious tryout, I'm guessing it aligns with some of Karen's vacation time (she was off Saturday, for example). As for Christian, again, they might as well give someone consistent hours, instead of a downright silly rotation of characters, like the interim period between Ben Bradley and Rivera.

I'd bet that this is the eventual permanent line-up, though I still would not rule out an outside hire for either slot. Mark to nights does almost seem like a lock, at this point.

Jim's going to anchor a 3pm newscast.

They're getting a set refresh, and it's being discussed in two other threads on here, and it has nothing to do with the O&O graphics.

It's not so much "give" as the ABC O&O has right of first refusal for the Monday Night games. After that, the CW/MyTV/indies of the world effectively "bid" to air the games. I'd imagine a similar procedure is at play, for the WNBA game.

KCAL's is nice. KYW's is great. I doubt WCBS is going to debut anything remotely poor.

As a lifelong viewer, WLS changing their wordmark honestly just doesn't phase me. Outside of the 1984-96 'Eyewitness News' logo, they've changed things up with every new graphics package.

Howzabout we cut back on the random time slot drops until stations release/announce their full schedules, closer to fall? And when that starts to happen, someone can create the 2023-24 thread, and we can close up this topic.

KTRK's look was great when it debuted, but has been tweaked, tinkered with, and butchered to the point where it needs to go.

Like tonight's documentary, other series, and most WWoD movies, content that first debuted on Hulu or Disney+ gets the small ABC bug. It's not permanent, at least not for now.

Gray is now a weeknight anchor, and Walter is not, so the former gets the big show in such a basic hierarchy. I don't know who did the earlier shows, so I don't know that Gray needed to be pulled from his regular 10pm slot, but I'd imagine the 10 wasn't a top priority on a holiday.

Speaking of KTRK assignments. Still unclear if Travis and David's slots have seen change.

Gina said she's not retiring, but I'm not buying that, long-term. I give her 2 years. Melanie isn't getting any younger, either, so MAYBE they're future-proofing their main evening line-up, but that still doesn't explain the multiple one-show anchors during non-traditional hours. Again, most of those folks carry other assignments (traffic, sports, field reporting), but it still feels cluttered.

I'd generally agree, but there's precedent across the O&O's, regarding 3-anchor morning shows. All in the last 2 years, KABC promoted weekend anchors Gregory & Brown to succeed Brandi Hitt with Leslie Sykes. WLS added Val Warner from 'Windy City Live Weekend' to the 6-8am block. KTRK also brought in Jacob Rascon to anchor from 6 to 8. WABC isn't broke, but there's reason to think they might try something a little different.

Just a way better use of the space and a better layout for presenting info, if most of these stations insist on using the ticker for all dayparts. KCAL's is phoned in, with the old ticker that overlaps the lower thirds, and the base version that most others are using is just too empty and hard to read, with white text on blue or orange. KYW and KDKA have the right idea, as well, with the dark gray ticker to match CBS News. Feels like less of a distraction, for them.

I REALLY like their take on the ticker.

I don't tune in often, but I do know that the 11am newscast seems to employ a very inconsistent weather rotation, for no good reason. I believe Travis does that shift one day a week, as well.

Really, what is their deal, over there? BY MY COUNT (let me know if anything has changed), KTRK puts out 9.5 hours of news, each weekday, as do KABC and WPVI, and yet they have way more anchors. Outside of the morning shows and whatever role Simon is taking on at 10pm on 13, note that 3rd anchors (looking at you, 6abc) are in contributing roles. The question mark count is also for where there are apparent vacancies. I know some of the KTRK folks have other on-air roles, like Winkler and Rivas, but goodness, they're an insanely bloated operation.
