That KFOR pack is definitely EGAD, not Vance. This KIMA open is different from the others I've seen with Working For You...a lot cheaper but with a cool jazzy "late open" cut:

They changed over the social handles to the new name so those did go along. The yourphx.com site is probably going to go away once all the important and mandated stuff is on the new one. Worth noting here that as part of ATSC 3.0 work the KASW mux is planned as the high power 3.0 test site complete with three DTS facilities. The KNXV mux would air KASW's main programming and Grit sub and the other subchannels are placed with other stations. (This would also see the ATSC 3.0 mirrors of some of the stations on KFPH-CD be moved over to KASW.) A few other KASW notes... MMJ Adam Waltz, who hosted the 30 Second Download and Phoenix Rising halftime show, is now a reporter for KNXV as well and his bio has been added. (Not a bad way to return to news reporting: his last news gig was at the NPG TV operation in St. Joseph, MO!) He says he'll still be doing the 30-Second Downloads "for the time being". MMJ Chloe Mar also made the move to reporting at ABC15. Their other on-camera personality, Hailey Frances (who also was KASW's "Content Manager"), is not listed and hasn't mentioned anything about ABC15 on her Twitter, so I'm unsure what she's up to. Given the lack of social media postings on a regular basis from the CW61 Arizona accounts... They removed that one post that they had that was a sports show live feed from WOOD, so it had to have been unintentional. The yourphx.com site now shows Anita Helt as the general manager of KASW. She is KNXV's GM and also the only person on that site with an @abc15.com address. Scripps's next priorities, outside of general integration, should be renewing the Phoenix Rising deal and getting local news on 61. Those are big ratings and promotional drivers to the station.

They sure love pushing the Arizona... What is this, the 90s? (Ironically, when KNXV debuted its news operation in 1994, they were the only news outlet without an Arizona gimmick: "Arizona's Family", "Arizona 5", "Spirit of Arizona", "Arizona's News Station".) Tuning in now, they're still running "30-Second Download" capsule-type spots with the "YourPHX.com" URL but they now end with the new CW61 Arizona logo. They hadn't branded as channel 61 alone since about 2002 (when they went to "WB 6/61").

This acquisition has closed, and there's an extra surprise: Lilly's taking over the CBS affiliation effective tomorrow. Well, they kind of had anyway, in July 2018. At that time, Lilly took over the cable slot — but not the programming operation — that had been home to TV2, which had been the islands' cable CBS affiliate since 2009. (News2 is still being produced...and airing on cable channel...4.) CBS USVI does air some news features, which as you might have guessed are produced in Erie.

They might have both been ABC affiliates in Missouri, but the 2 NewsTeam != NewsTeam 2: The guy who uploaded this also put up an hour of his own work, including rare looks at KBCI and KCRG in the late 70s/early 80s. One open at 5:57. What's appalling? That open was new in January 1984 which is when the story is from — the station had just changed logos and the open looks like it's 1980 or 1979. (NewsCenter II as a theme is one clue this is laaaate.)

It's a retrospective...in a retrospective as WCIA's historical archive segment digs up a story about 25 years of newsman (and ND) Dave Shaul:

You've just rebranded your station. It's an expensive rebrand, too: new logo, new set, new anchors, new call letters. But your "Recorded Earlier" late news repeat open...hasn't changed in about two years. With that important comment, I present to you...KNSD in October 1988:

I mean, they could (they branded as Arkansas 11 for years in the 80s-90s), but the first thing that comes to mind is maybe they don't want to sound like KATV's "Good Morning Arkansas".

That's gotta be what it is. For instance, the University of Central Arkansas is in Conway, and there do seem to be some orgs based in Little Rock with "Central Arkansas" in their name: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, Central Arkansas Water (the metropolitan water authority), the Central Arkansas Library System (main library in Little Rock)...

The old 5 was a bit out of date, but the new logo looks so painfully generic it could be in a movie.

@Ntropolis This is the theme KIMT and WTOK used! Seems like WBTW was using it a bit earlier — 1988, compared to the other clips which are from 1990. The Coast???

The KGWC filing has a surprise buried in it. KGWC's getting a local newscast, per the SSA between Big Horn and Front Range. Identical copy is in KTWO's agreement, but the KGWC contingency is a surprise. There's no SSA for the Fox stations so it's unclear if a newscast will be added there.

In the "M&A we missed" department, there were three deals affecting stations in Wyoming. All three have not yet had their sale prices revealed as no filings have crossed the FCC. KLWY-TV in Cheyenne, KFNB-TV, KWYF-LD and their dependent stations were sold to Coastal Television Broadcasting Company, LLC (apparently aka Front Range Television). The president and CEO of Coastal is William Fielder III. KTWO-TV in Casper, as well as KKTQ-LD and its other dependent translators was acquired by Vision Alaska (Stephen Brissette, manager). KGWC and its full-power satellites and translators were sold to Big Horn Television LLC (Michael Hogan, member). We don't know much about Big Horn Television but it is clearly related to the other two companies, having been incorporated the same day and being domiciled at the same address. All three companies are incorporated in Delaware. Coastal (and Fielder) owns KTBY in Anchorage, Alaska, and WLOV in the Tupelo market. (WLOV's operations are handled by WTVA under LMA.) Vision Alaska owns the ABC Alaska system, which is LMA'd out to Coastal. Hogan appears to have no other holdings. The deal will also see KJUD and KATN, which Coastal operates under time brokerage agreements, be assigned to Coastal proper.

Yes, it was a syndicated pack. It seems to have come from Dallas-based Electronic Graphics and Design (EGAD) who were a quite influential firm on which we don't have a lot of info.

The Toyota Camry ad in there is voiced by Chris Clausen! A bit curious, and I note some of the video in here is violent (in fact, KGMB anchor Dave Carlin justifies their decision to show it in the first clip!). Honolulu TV stations cover a circus accident involving an elephant in 1994.

Huh, I had always assumed from the other aircheck that the cold open was because Linda Álvarez left...but it seems like it really was a thing for the 10pm at this time.

The NMSA in general has trouble telling the 'CCO themes of this era apart. (It doesn't help when WCCO's own sister station matched the 85 "Best News of All" imaging with the 83 theme.) Particularly 1978 -> 1983 is an evolution and their similar beds make it worse. The 1983 theme, which had an accompanying On the Move image, debuted when the station moved into the then-new WCCO Communications Center on September 13.

Nice catch! That 3D clock tower animation also appeared in what must have been their next open.

Don't mind me, I'm just disgusted at the KIVI open. It's not good.
