  1. I feel like I've heard it before... Seems to be a descendant of KTVU 1977!
  2. That might be because people at the station know the KADN programs are higher-rated.
  3. Speaking of WTRF, here's a clip from 1995. No news material except for an L-box of school closings:
  4. WTRF, 1988: A WOAC sports bump, 1988 (yes, WOAC): WFSB, 5:30 in 1992: KNDO in 1995:
  5. That "News 15" brand looks cheap. Like, movie-level cheap.
  6. I usually try to find the newest material, but today, I'm making an exception and going a little further afield than usual... (At 3:58 in the last video: Uncle Murph!)
  7. That's even better than what I had in mind.
  8. There's a clean version of that open/theme somewhere in a demo on YT...
  9. Holy Cleveland... It's all 90s stuff too, including plenty around the affiliation switch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myygd4OLOdA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2h7GTgx7Rl4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zKFCQvzULQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwErjemeD9w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXgZ1iLkRUU
  10. A 1991 look at WDSU's news: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP2Jb1pWfuQ
  11. Well, WTSP is already a bit of a carousel of news personalities...
  12. KMCC is going to Entravision for $3.7 million: http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/102368/entravision-buys-las-vegas-indie-for-37m The owners of KMCC also own KYVV Del Rio, Texas, which has been silent for ten months.
  13. Did I hear Cronkite? Fun fact: RTM was initially produced at the facilities of the Cronkite School in Phoenix. After the first season, it moved to the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix. Its producers, MagicDust Productions, are best described as 80s/90s KTVK's spiritual successor (at least at the top — if the name Phil Alvidrez rings a bell, you immediately get the idea) and are stocked with ASU grads and Phoenix TV vets. (For the locals: the facility is on 48th Street between Elliot and Guadalupe, but it's primarily home to insurance offices)
  14. In re: the VTS versions of KCRA's Where the News Comes First: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=b-eU06ImvhI;t=635
  15. KTVX in 1983 with Dick Allgire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=OJAr9_MePX4;t=154 (Some of the other videos on his channel are KOOKY-sounding!)
  16. In 2015-16 it was Hispanic DMA 36 (and normal DMA 22), so it punches underweight.
  17. What was WVTV doing airing the CBS Late Movie? Dig this KIMA logo!
  18. That 4 is way too tall.
  19. These things don't go that well together, but... A KCOY blooper tape from...1978? Whoa! Dig that set! Blooper reels are always hard to trust for opens, but this 1980 reel might have their news theme from the era...though that's certainly not an actual newscast at 5:11: Unfortunately, it's not all fun and games. At the start of 1994, KCAU meteorologist Tom Peterson was killed in a car crash; this tribute video includes material from various newscasts (including one from KTIV - they were still using the NBC: The Place to Be theme). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=r-ltlPtP9js;t=1709
  20. It's not often that it's a good thing that a classic clip never saw the light of day...but that's definitely true of this one.
  21. One of those opens matches ! (The WLTV version said "REPORTER" as their newscast title was Reporter 23.)
  22. On another note... Remember how I said KRBK was a great unknown? It's becoming more known by the day. A full KRBK newscast from 1991! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TH9LuJOQno
  23. It's GOTTA be older! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=TFvwVo8cVzs;t=28
  24. WANE in 1985... In March, the Corinthian-era set was still in use but the stripe colors had changed: But by June, WANE had a new set and...Newschannel!? Newschannel was gone by February 1986, and its replacement (the second version of the CBS News ticker) was out by 1987.
  25. A semi truck that was too tall snagged a power line, leaving WKMG in the dark and forcing it to cancel an hour of news today. They wound up airing Rachael Ray instead of their 4pm show.
