  1. Judy Woodruff ended her tenure as anchor and managing editor of the PBS Newshour tonight (Dec. 30). Here is her final broadcast:

She will be missed at the anchor desk, but will be looking forward to her special report series America at a Crossroads (as well as Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett beginning their tenure).

  2. That was a wonderful broadcast. Everyone's "thank yous" and honors were sweet, and Jim's farewell message was humble, poignant, beautiful and unforgettable. His shout out to his successors Rick Williams and Brian Taff was lovely also. I like everyone else will miss him dreadfully; but he deserves his retirement, and I know he'll live his best life with his family.

    Thank you, Mr. Gardner.

  3. I think the new package is really good at this moment. There are some things about it that could be better (like the usage of the call signs where/when applied), but it's very nice imo. Can't wait for when the other stations implement it.

  4. As confirmed during a investment firm conference earlier today, Nexstar will use the proceeds -- $155 million of net cash -- from the sale of its Chicago property the Freedom Center (to Bally's for a future billion-dollar casino on the site) to invest in operations of The CW. (The pending sale was already publicly disclosed recently.)

Lara Logan went full Q, and that was too much for NewsMax.

Yeah because even they have limits. She a full on white supremacist.

    How pathetic.

She was once on 60 Minutes.

What a fall from grace if I've ever seen it.

  6. I've aired my grievance before about Brenda Blackmon and Kaity, and I'll say something similar about Muller. It's a disappointment that his tenure in the evenings didn't last (while Tamsen Fadal's still there) and that he was pushed off to weekends (and she wasn't). They should've kept John on weekdays and demoted her. I previously found Tamsen an okay anchor, but now I must ask... What do they see in her? Why is she still where she is? And what is so important about her that the execs insist she's their main face of their news op -- when better is right in front of them? Does she have an ironclad contract or something?

  7. This new graphics package looks incredible and blow the last one out of the water; it's not even close. The video updates in the set took my breath away too; all of this make the program look much better. Well done to everyone involved.

This open looks much better than I previously thought, and I was looking forward to it from the get-go. Great to hear the '87 theme once again as well; sounds as great as the last times.

WPHL is for all intents and purposes an independent station and run themselves as such. Yes they carry the MyNet primetime stuff but they've long since distanced themselves from the network. I'm sure Nextar is eager to get their newly acquired network on their #4 market station asap.

I'm aware and I alluded to that.

As for WPSG, CBS seems to have no issues owning unaffiliated stations in duopoly markets (see LA & Boston).

I could definitely see them fully bringing back the Philly 57 branding (given that they already have done so in logo form when the CW was originally launched, but verbally only referring to it as the CW Philly).

    I'm also aware, thanks.

I actually thought about the branding (the history of which I'm too aware) this morning before and after the news and totally agree. They don't even have to get a new logo; just freshen up that very one.

  10. Wow. Maybe in a better world, the CW brand name doesn't carry over,  and WGN America makes a comeback. But that's wishful thinking.

I don't know what is going to happen with WPSG's CW Affiliation. I'm hopeful they'll keep it but if WPHL gets the Affiliation, but that's Speculation.

I can see either happening, but WPHL picking up the network is the most logical scenario. At least it gets to be O&O again instead of just an affiliate (and a barely recognized one one at that).

  11. Reposting what I wrote originally on the "NBC News Daily" thread:

Even after the cancellations of All My Children and One Life to Live, this move genuinely shocks me because I really thought soap operas still have some staying power on television in this day and age. But it's a much better fate for it than cancellation, assuming by the success it's spinoff Beyond Salem has on Peacock.

  12. It's official: AFG is joining the Hot Topics table as a full-time co-host for Season 26. And in a pleasant surprise, so is

Ana Navarro. The View will now have six co-hosts.

Sunny Hostin also signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal to stay as co-host
