  1. Terrell is a strong choice that I hadn’t considered much. I’d like it to be Ravi, unless WLS has taken the route of other ABC O&Os and are prioritizing stability of their weekend PM anchors (Torres/Bookman in NY, Abrahams in Houston).
  2. They’ve been running a promo for this upcoming week that used a different graphic on the video wall behind Robin’s chair. Has anyone seen them use that video screen for anything other than as part of the other two pieces to the left and right?
  3. I wonder if they’re preparing TV3 for election night? GMA weekend coming from Times Square the last few week where it should always be in my opinion.
  4. And really I bet that was more Lori’s request. Wasn’t she aiming for an evening spot at channel 7?
  5. Wasn’t American Morning’s slogan “the most news in the morning”? Seems akin to their promise to provide all the news needed in 10-15 minutes.
  6. My theory has always been that Fox 5 evenings competes well enough with PIX11 that there isn’t an emphasis on investing there. Everything about the 5,6 and 10pm lacks inspiration. Aren’t they one of the few Fox owned stations that have never invested in an 11pm addition to the 10pm? It’s probably not entirely fair but they simply do not seem to take their evening side serious.
  7. He and Dari together were abysmal.
  8. Thoughts on Lynette’s settling in at Today in LA? I’m happy for her but KNBC is such a different product than KTLA. A little more boring if you will. It’s a very stiff and corporate newscast. I like what Lynette brings but it’s odd seeing her be the less buttoned up one on a show compared to the cast she worked with at KTLA. In time things will gel better.
  9. LOL. That last sentence in that story sums up everything about FTVlive, pompous.
  10. Any updates on KTLA’s new set?
  11. Yeah I’m not seeing this is as any more thirsty as anything else prompted by local news. This is a huge get for them. I believe KABC has had a recent morning anchor change too? KCBS and KTTV are changing. This is a great moment for KNBC to capture some wins. Side note, their set is easily the worst in the NBC O&O line. It has a dark hue to it.
  12. Very happy for Lynette. She deserves this moment.
  13. I like Ravi enough and Cheryl needs a really REALLY strong anchor to pair with. Rob is great but not as lead anchor. It’s got to be Ravi or Terrell.
  14. Sam Rubin filling in on KTLA Morning News today…as an anchor. Has that ever happened before?
  15. Yep. Ken has filled in on the weekend AM a handful of times when Mike has been away or was covering for Sandra / Joe on the PM side. Ryan Field was also in Saturday night covering for Sam Ryan.
  16. Dayna Devon and Courtney Friel have both clarified that they were seeking career changes. They don’t seem to be negative about KTLA management. In fact, one of them is still with the station just on a different project thank the weekend AM show. I wouldn’t include in a general statement about management running talent away.
  17. I don’t get this. What terms of employment did the ND violate that should result in this termination or reassignment?
  18. If I recall I think Chris anchored the Sunday after Chris Burrous passed or perhaps the following weekend. It was really nice to see a familiar hand at the desk.
  19. KTLA will be fine. It helps that their competition at KTTV happens to be in perpetual local news hell. The LA Times story to me makes Mark look like an absolute moron. Lynette declined an on-air goodbye and Mark instead aired dirty laundry that Lynette might not have wanted out herself. The awkwardness of that segment aligns with the portion of the article talking about how Mark went off script and betrayed his colleagues’ trust.
  20. Sad ending but he brought this upon himself. I still can’t get over the complete lack of regard and decorum he showed in that segment. Airing information about something “very bad” happening to Lynette back in the early 2000s, dragging your management into it, and neglecting the NEWS to do all of this? Then he weirdly pressures his colleagues on the desk to share their thoughts and continues to angrily talk over them. It was insane. How did the rest of that morning’s show go after the 8am hour? Don’t they run until 11am?
  21. If KNBC were wise they’d pick up Mester to pair with Lynette on Today in LA which is expected to be announced any minute now.
  22. Lori Stokes had a significantly higher profile as the anchor of 2 major newscasts 5 days a week than Lynette. Even she was only allowed a small goodbye after being yanked from the air. That anecdotal instance certainly isn’t the standard. KTLA pulling Lynette and dismissing here the way they did is the standard is.
  23. I’m not arguing with you on this. Goodbye.
  24. I saw a tweet and an ad on channel 7 that Tiempo (Joe’s show) could be found on streaming.
  25. WABC and KTLA are not the same stations and don’t have similar identities or management. That management at WABC was willing to let Lori come back and say goodbye is not the standard, it’s the exception. What’s confusing?
