  1. Excuse me?
  2. I’d like them to come to some solution sooner than later. Radar and Variety are reporting that GMAers don’t want Amy and TJ back. We shall see what happens but Rhiannon Ally and DeMarco Morgan are making a nice competitive pairing as the replacements.
  3. This is my confusion as well. Did KCAL have a morning product before this? If not, then it’s hardly a cost-cutting initiative either. The real struggle is how saturated that market is for the AM - KTLA, KABC, KNBC, KTTV all have established local morning institutions even if some are weaker than others. That doesn’t even include the national competition.
  4. Some tech issues sent the 4pm news into a loop of commercials from about 4:05-4:16 today. The audio on weather dropped out before switching to a feed of the House speaker vote and then commercials.
  5. What the hell are they going for with this? The walk out and late night talk show open is weak.
  6. The Rob Marciano situation remains odd. He appears on GMA only to file weather-related stories, never to present or fill in for Ginger like before though he seems to be the primary weather anchor / correspondent for WNT. Instead GMA brings in a range of weather anchors from NYC, Chicago, Philly and Nashville for weekends or filling in for Ginger.
  7. I don’t see a situation where ABC gets rid of both, if anyone is at risk it’s T.J. for his propensity for banging colleagues. Even then, that seems like an unlikelihood. Were the dynamics of this any other than two seemingly happily married colleagues slyly messing around (basically has Dailymail not blasted it as an affair) then I think GMA milks this romance for all it’s worth. GMA3 is likely but I don’t see the two of them back on main GMA together though it’s anyone’s guess.
  8. Sorry but this story was bound to garner significant attention regardless of what ABC did. The story itself has all the makings of a high profile scandal that all media love.
  9. I was supportive of them remaining on air once the additional details came out that this wasn’t nearly as salacious as the tabloids made it. But this is becoming a huge distraction and depending on how it shakes out could do damage to GMA’s brand strength. Based on my entirely unscientific estimates, TJ has fallen way out of people’s good graces. My girlfriend, my mom and social media all informing my hypothesis lol.
  10. ABC rightfully said screw tabloids and have Amy, TJ and Dr Jen Ashton on GMA3 as usual. Good for them but cannot say I expected that.
  11. Maybe it’s fair to say tabloids and social media made a much bigger deal of this than needed be. The two have been separated from their marriages for a while now and are two consenting adults which the DailyMail piece buried in their story. Still a surprising story and I think it’ll be sometime before ABC has the two of them on air together though I think the best way to defend them from a rag piece and invasion of their privacy is to have them operate BAU. The duo are a strong part of the show’s sustained success.
  12. I mostly agree but there are optics around the “family” and “wholesomeness” of morning TV that an apparent marital affair would likely not play well in. For me, I like TJ and Amy as a duo but not sure the dating dynamics would go well on a national network morning program. How do the dynamics shift while they’re a couple, how do they shift in the event that they’re no longer a couple?
  13. They would have had to be separated considering how public they’re being in a number of those photos right? They’re literally smiling at cameras in one of the photos as they left TJ’s apartment apparently. Not sure how GMA will handle this but hard to see them being the future of the show in the way I also thought they’d be.
  14. Michelle Charlesworth filling in on 5PM news. I’ve never seen her on after the mornings or noon show.
  15. Umm? Aren’t they both married?
  16. I strongly disagree. WABC’s on-air look is awful - very disjointed and clunky although the color scheme isn’t terrible. I remember being shocked when I learned here that the package wasn’t built in-house. Their graphics package and set are arguably the worst in the market to me.
  17. The no-tie look is awkward because the female news anchor still dresses rather formal.
  18. Terrell is a strong choice that I hadn’t considered much. I’d like it to be Ravi, unless WLS has taken the route of other ABC O&Os and are prioritizing stability of their weekend PM anchors (Torres/Bookman in NY, Abrahams in Houston).
  19. They’ve been running a promo for this upcoming week that used a different graphic on the video wall behind Robin’s chair. Has anyone seen them use that video screen for anything other than as part of the other two pieces to the left and right?
  20. I wonder if they’re preparing TV3 for election night? GMA weekend coming from Times Square the last few week where it should always be in my opinion.
  21. And really I bet that was more Lori’s request. Wasn’t she aiming for an evening spot at channel 7?
  22. Wasn’t American Morning’s slogan “the most news in the morning”? Seems akin to their promise to provide all the news needed in 10-15 minutes.
  23. My theory has always been that Fox 5 evenings competes well enough with PIX11 that there isn’t an emphasis on investing there. Everything about the 5,6 and 10pm lacks inspiration. Aren’t they one of the few Fox owned stations that have never invested in an 11pm addition to the 10pm? It’s probably not entirely fair but they simply do not seem to take their evening side serious.
  24. He and Dari together were abysmal.
  25. Thoughts on Lynette’s settling in at Today in LA? I’m happy for her but KNBC is such a different product than KTLA. A little more boring if you will. It’s a very stiff and corporate newscast. I like what Lynette brings but it’s odd seeing her be the less buttoned up one on a show compared to the cast she worked with at KTLA. In time things will gel better.
