  1. After rewatching it a few times it seems that they actually do give quite a bit of information in those 2 1/2 minute opens and I think it’s brilliant. You can learn the basis of the top stories in that intro and then stick around for the intricate details throughout the show. Maybe this is ABC’s attempt at providing quick updates in our digitally connected world where programs like WNT, NN and EN have not been able to adapt as well to the changing landscape.
  2. Nice. So the desk will be moved back and forth for election coverage?
  3. Give them a break from what? I certainly wasn’t insinuating what they should or should not be doing. Just that it’s comforting to see some elements of the show return to normal. Janai Norman has also returned to the studio for Pop News on the weekend editions. It’s simply good to see them all together again.
  4. Noticed that GMA is laxing some of the TS protocols by having reporters present their pieces in the studio again. Robin, Ginger and Lara are still based at home but there has been 3 people at the desk daily for the last month or more, mostly Amy and TJ with another fill-in for either George or Michael. I wonder when we’ll see The View, LIVE! return to their studio.
  5. Goodness. I went to school in Lubbock and remember her. Tragedies are mounting this year.
  6. I personally can’t stomach much of WNT under Muir’s hand but because he’s been a smashing success (even before COVID-19) I don’t see them changing anything up. We’re still waiting on them to move to a new set that they’ve managed to use for several other programs. Without a doubt, Lester Holt and NBC are producing the best news product anywhere at 6:30 pm. They blow ABC and CBS out of the water.
  7. It’s not going to stop. They’re the most watched program across all of television, not just news, but across all television. They’re unlikely to change anything about their current formula.
  8. Is the NBC election set housed in Studio 1A? If so, the NN made beautiful use of it last night. Today doesn’t even seem to be as versatile with the space as NN was Monday evening.
  9. I’d also imagine that she could have an expanded once GMA3 settles into whatever its long-term format will be.
  10. Not a fan of Norah at all. Everything about her delivery is inauthentic and I look forward to who CBS pushes in next considering the whispers that Norah aggressively pursued the position over Glor. Outside of the coronavirus, her viewership is lower than Glor as well. WNT is a shell of its former self, I’m happy for its success but I’m not a fan of the format. Lester Holt and NN consistently produce the best national product at 6:30 p.m.
  11. Do they really need to announce it though? They run promos featuring Robach and her new show daily. At this point it doesn’t seem likely that they’re going to announce the “cancellation” of the old format when they’ve been heavily promoting the Robach edition since at least April or May.
  12. Goodness, 2020 has been tough. RIP to a Chicago and weather legend.
  13. Keke Palmer pretty much confirming that “Strahan, Sara and Keke” is no more. A comment on the post from Michael Strahan confirms it too.
  14. Based off of the success of WNT I definitely think the next anchor change for any of the newscasts will trend much younger than 50-60.
  15. The View is a leader among its category (daytime talk show) and is a staple of ABC’s early daytime lineup so I don’t think they’d mess with moving it around. An expanded GMA has been a top priority for the network in an attempt to grab more advertising dollars for the most watched morning program. I think that will remain a priority for them as a cheap alternative that guarantees a nice ROI over converting their primetime game shows into daily airings.
  16. The new format is just superior so this makes sense. And I still think it can have an element of fun so long as it maintains the news focus. Amy + TJ should lead the hour.
  17. Looks like the changes could be here to stay. ABC just promoted the woman responsible for the What You Need to Know program to the permanent EP for the hour. Doesn’t make much mention of the future of the show in terms of Michael, Sara and Keke. https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/cat-mckenzie-named-ep-of-gma3/446930/
  18. Ed Henry fired from Fox News after a sexual misconduct investigation:
  19. Yeah the format of Need to Know should stick around, GMA3 is just not palatable similarly to Good Afternoon America. No need for the gimmicks. The 3rd hour is taped right after GMA wraps so I’d imagine that the costs are relatively low compared to creating an entire different show like The Chew. I just wish they’d really push their lineup back an hour so the 3rd hour can air live.
  20. TJ Holmes has to be a permanent part of GMA’s future. He and Amy work particularly well as a duo when they’re together.
  21. WTVD should allow the inflammatory president to be outted as such especially when using his very own words. Not sure why you felt the need to identify yourself as a Trump supporter at all to provide an opinion on this either... oh wait, yes I do.
  22. Today has boarded up Studio 1A as a precautionary measure. Have they explained why Hoda has been in the studio the entire time while Savannah has been upstate since March? Savannah was in Manhattan on Monday reporting on the civil unrest so seems odd to me that she hasn’t been back to the studio.
  23. He should take a cue from the guy who slapped the reporter’s ass a few months ago. Didn’t they arrest and charge him with battery sexual assault?
  24. I’m honestly surprised this many people watch whatever CBS is doing at 6:30 to have noticed this.
  25. Good Morning America is moving closer to some form of normalcy. George, Amy and Michael anchored together in the studio for the first time in months Friday. Dan, Eva and Whit are anchoring in the TS studio together for the first time in nearly 2 months.
