  1. Exactly. Especially in morning television you don't have to be #1 to still make an insane amount of cash for the network. It's much cheaper to produce more Today instead of finding a syndicated program and it's a model that Good Morning America is trying to mold around to as well.
  2. The stripped down GMA of this week so far has been quite nice. No studio audience and less focus on pop culture crap.
  3. KXAS also extended their 6 PM broadcast to an hour as well. They mentioned that they would continue to do that throughout the health crisis.
  4. I don’t see that happening. Isn’t the 4th hour of Today pretty successful and generally more popular than the 3rd hour? Plus the show’s arch rival is eagerly finding opportunities to expand their current 2-hour format.
  5. Weekend Today coming from Washington DC to limit travel for their two weekend anchors Alexander and Welker.
  6. ABC used the new set for this week’s primary coverage but not for any special reports or WNT. Any word on when this will go into full commission?
  7. In terms of strictly news coverage, Fox News in my opinion has for several years had a much more solid offering than CNN. Bret Baier, Bill Hemmer and Shep Smith are among some of the best broadcast journalists anywhere.
  8. Weekend GMA still coming from TS today
  9. Wow that is really impressive
  10. It’s certainly nice but I’m going to wait and see how WNT uses it daily and even more so how GMA can use this.
  11. Are we expected to see the new WNT set today?
  12. Couldn’t catch a screencap but the monitor on the desk was turned off a few times throughout last night’s WNT. Possibly some technical difficulties?
  13. It’s hard to disagree with much of anything that Wright said. This is an overreaction by Disney and reeks of egotism. Like others have said, synergies is a reality of every professional industry but ABC News goes way over the top.
  14. I can't remember clearly but wasn't Lori Stokes' departure also somewhat rough?
  15. The newscast that Mike will likely take over was already extremely popular and dominant with Rob as anchor so I’m not sure that’s it either.
  16. A seriously extreme overreaction. People leave the media industry in droves every single day, just like any industry. Doesn’t Channel 7 have one of the most experienced and long running news teams in NYC? That to me would indicate that they aren’t as bad as your conspiracy suggests.
  17. Is that a true story? That’s interesting to hear because it was such a minute detail that for whatever reason sticks out as a distinct point of difference between two of my favorite anchormen’s tenure on the show compared to David Muir.
  18. Ed Brandon stepped away for rehab due to a cocaine addiction.
  19. I just thought about this several weeks ago, I’m not sure when the last time I saw Muir standing in the studio. As you mentioned Peter and Charles used to open their show and present the Closer Look segment while standing.
  20. A 2 week newscast is surely a trial run right?
  21. I liked this set a lot but I think it’s too much for a daily news program. Hopefully a more toned down version of this is what we’ll see. Was this in the studio Tamron Hall films in?
  22. In fact, the KTLA Morning News us repeating the graphic today and boasting about how viral it went lol.
  23. Born and raised in Houston and even I admit they cheated bad. My family and everyone else in Houston seem delusional about it haha. It’s crazy Without a doubt my favorite morning tv program/cast.
  24. Doubtful. The morning show has been particularly vocal about this, Frank Buckley and others on the station have repeatedly referred to them as the “Cheating Astros” while reading copy of the story.
  25. I’d assume that she won’t be on for any of the evening newscasts?
