1. Never going to understand all the Megyn Kelly hate for no damn reason yet the defending of people like Matt Lauer. Some of you are really something.
2. I wouldn’t call pinching Katie’s ass and telling Meredith to “keep bending over so he can enjoy the view” a brother-sister relationship. Unless it’s incest or something.
3. I never believed the stories of animosity between Ann and Katie. I remember the two mentioning their long and frequent discussions on the phone throughout their time together on the show. No idea where that stands now but I do believe they were friends.
4. Completely agree. I remember watching Ann's last day and it was pretty damn brutal as a casual viewer to watch what was going down, so I can't imagine how much it hurt Ann especially after weeks of reports that they were pushing her out and no one from the network doing anything to publicly kill the reports. Brian Stelter's book is pretty revealing about how awful the culture at TODAY was/is. Ann's comments to CTM and People corroborate with a lot of what's said in the book. These assholes harassed Ann daily about her outfits and style, she just took it on the chin and kept doing her job. Matt and the EP both led the regime against her. This is why I don't care to hear Savannah's weeping about how difficult it is to come to terms with "someone you love has done a really bad thing." Matt can go die.
5. Didn't even realize that but wow. I remember George's first day on GMA - he and Robin have grown to be quite the duo.
6. Glad to know I’m not the only one not vibing with GMA lately. This is one instance in which I hope a show over reacts to falling behind in the ratings and makes some drastic changes.
7. Completely agree the show doesn’t really seem to have a sense of itself with Michael there. Losing Amy would be a big blow in my opinion as she should be Robin’s replacement soon. The Michael experiment isn’t working and he hasn’t turned out to be the hit he was supposed to be. Hopefully he’ll leave soon enough
8. Noticed that Amy doesn’t read the headlines anymore. In fact they don’t even do headlines at 8 A.M. Amy does still appear throughout the show and sits at the desk with Robin, George and Michael throughout the 7 A.M. hour. Lara doesn’t appear until the second hour of the show.
9.
10. She hasn’t spoke or addressed the allegations against one of her best friends as far as I know. Interesting.
11. It’s hard to argue Matt being worth every penny of his $25 million salary. He orchestrated one of the most disastrous transitions in the show’s history which helped cement the end of a historic run for the show. Not to mention he only did 7-9 a.m. and was negotiating at some point to work M-Th only. The craziest part of that is his big salary was negotiated after the show had fallen from its perch.
12. Anyone feeling a little underwhelmed by this news? I really thought Willie was on the fast track to ascend into that chair. Also some tricky in the ratings reporting lead Today to a fifth week over GMA in total viewers. They only counted the averages for 2 days. Had they counted the 4 day average (Christmas being the missing day), like GMA did they’d have lost by 58,000. Not much reason to panic but it takes a little out of the Today is dominant without Matt stories.
13. Is there ever a time when Good Morning America isn’t discussing The Bachelor or Dancing with the Stars? It’s sad how bad this show has gotten. Today is no better. Here’s to CTM taking over the mornings race and hopefully forcing the other two to change course.
14. God, morning television has become so terrible. I could only stomach so much of Today before having to turn it off but I was surprised to not see a package of some sorts chronicling Hoda’s career and time on the show as she transitions into the co-host role. Those type of pieces seem to be a standard on the show as they’ve done one for Matt, Meredith, Ann, and then Savannah when they became anchors on the show.
15. Makes sense considering the ratings over the last few weeks. Interested to see how the show develops over the new year. I expected NBC to go outside of the network for a big star similar to how they poached Meredith from The View.
16. Going off of your usual grammatically incorrect laden post, I’m going to assume you didn’t comprehend what I said. My comment talked about the majority of morning television viewers, not the majority of Americans overall. Also, all three morning programs have been losing viewers by the millions. Really not sure that a personal attack on Robin Roberts was called for. Although it’s quite funny because she isn’t supposed to do anything for men. The morning programs are targeted towards middle aged mothers, not men. This wasn’t even a comparison between Robin and Savannah, it was a statement that Savannah is one of the weakest anchors the Today Show has ever had - in my opinion. Ratings success could easily be because of Hoda and not Savannah.
17. Well the show has been languished in second place since she got there up until a few weeks ago. The ratings change could be a testament to Hoda and not Savanah. So like I said, she doesn’t do a damn thing for me. And for the last 6 years, save for the past 4 weeks, she hasn’t done anything for a majority of American morning TV viewers either.
18. I really don’t like Savannah and believe she’s one of the weakest personalities to grace the show since Jim Hartz. She just doesn’t do a damn thing for me. Megan would be an awesome addition to the program so I agree with what you’ve said. Her and Brian could be magical. Also to the above poster, Today has built their most successful years off of making their anchors the stars of the show. I don’t really expect them to move away from that winning formula.
19. I’ve been wondering how they would do that when Matt Lauer has been apart of almost every major news story featured on the show before his termination.
20. I’m thinking (and hoping) he’s mistaking David Bloom with David Gregory. Especially since there was an article out earlier this week that Matt was behind Gregory, Elliott and a few others being pushed out from NBC as to protect his spot on the Today Show.
21. I’m more surprised that they’re just now making this move. Most large markets have been 4:30 a.m. starts for the better part of a decade now.
22. When the heck did he join the show?
23. I like Megyn Kelly - a lot. I know I don’t represent everyone but I would definitely watch Today with her at the helm. She’s that good.
24. LOL. Sad as it may be, so many people still don’t realize that PR is a part of the U.S. even if it’s not geographically connected. Hawaii too
25. KTRK in Houston is really bad about opening every newscast with “breaking news”
