  1. Sorry, but it's just that everybody here complains about them, and I thought that maybe, we as a group could run them better. We could perhaps spinoff the former Fisher/Allbritton stations as a separate company. And besides, I've always wanted to be part of a pitchfork-wielding mob, and Sinc-liar (yes, I'm spelling it like that) seemed like a very viable target.

You're asking this after a nutcase drove a dump truck into WMAR? Seriously?!?

All I'm saying is that we should all assemble in person and take over the company, so we can dismantle the monopoly machine they've got going, and help restore dignity to the industry; we'll embarrass the FCC while doing it, given how they've just sat on their butts and are content to let Sinclair take over everything. And besides, we're trying to do something good for the industry, and we are perfectly mentally healthy, as compared to the WMAR guy, who didn't seem to have any motivation.
  3. I agree; I trust CBS News, especially Scott Pelley, as well as CBS This Morning, more than ABC now, though my dad is set in his ways (he did watch during the Jennings and Gibson years, so he stuck out of habit), but, he at least watches the PBS NewsHour to make up for it (he loves Shields and Brooks).

  4. Oddly, the Comcast Port Murray guide doesn't seem to know about the 4PM news yet; it still thinks they're showing "The Doctors" at 4PM. Hopefully the Rovi guys or whoever will update it. Also, what will they do with the empty studios and newsroom on South Mountain when they relocate to PPL Center? Will they lease them out? WPVI could easily expand their relationship with the station and set up an alternate studio and full-fledged Lehigh Valley newsroom in there. Hopefully they'll also replace the grey shingles on the outside; I saw it on their website's virtual tour, and it looks pretty aged, although the large glass atrium looks nice. Also on that tour, they mention something called the "FMZ Heritage Network" that's apparently broadcast on Service Electric's "Cable FM" service; anybody know anything about that?

  5. I once saw a photo, and they have these translucent maps of the Tri-State Area in one area, and one of them still had the 90's EWN logo on them. And I once saw a video on 7Online about an Election, and it featured David Novarro in the newsroom, and as he passed by one pillar, there was what appeared to be some sort of fake movie poster with Roger Grimsby on it. Anyone know anything about that?

  6. Also of note, from that video, if you look closely at the program running, it says "G3 Vertigo Test". First off, I thought that they had renamed G3 to The Mill; second, unless Vertigo is the name of the program they were using or the control room software they use, this means that Gannett's internal codename of this package is Vertigo.

Unfortunately, yes. I have younger siblings that are six, seven so I can tell you that from experience. I didn't know when it became acceptable to say "sucks", "screw", "moron" in a children's show.... (I'm looking at you "Irregular Show")

    end rant

Regular Show's pretty good, but it's for older kids and teens. There are many adult fans, as well. Go to TVTropes and look up "Periphery Demographic".
  8. Oh god, the mental images. I think they might be burned onto the backs of my eyeballs. That should not happen on a morning news program, or any news program.

  9. This isn't the first time one of Boston's news helicopters have crashed; remember the KOMO crash? Apparently, the helicopter that crashed in that incident was previously the WFXT helicopter; by the time of the accident, all Fox 25 markings had been stripped off (it was serving a temp duty as KOMO and KING's copter while they were undergoing upgrades).

  10. Has anybody noticed how WNYW's 1999-2000 era graphics resemble the ones used at WFLD around the same time (before WFLD adopted Streaming News)? If so, does anybody know who made these graphics?
