Well, that was quick. I hope that the next time they negotiate with Fox Sports over their RSNs, they finally add YES Network, as Fox is now the majority shareholder.
-
Maybe they're resurfacing the floors like KYW was.
-
I just caught a brand-new style for the topicals. Finally. Also, last night's 6 PM had another idiot interrupt a live shot; this time it was NJ Burkett at Jones Beach (it happened one or two weeks ago on First @ 4:00; there Kemberly Richardson was reporting from Union Square before some moron started spouting "Baba Booey, Baba Booey, Howard Stern's penis", like Peter did in Congress on Family Guy).

This isn't their first try; they attempted News 9 San Antonio in 2002, but disputes with Belo put an end to that channel, as well as News 24 Houston, and partially crippled News 14 Carolinas. It looks like Time Warner Cable is preparing to expand its regional cable news holdings with a new channel in San Antonio.
-
I've seen WWL use a version of the Cox package.
-
So, WCNC actually gets something before the rest of the ex-Belo stations? That I did not see coming. Perhaps, given how it's closely related to NBC News (literally, in this case), Gannett's paying attention to them due to their large number of NBC affils?
-
It should be noted, that WCBS provides more coverage of us up here in northwest NJ, compared to the other NY stations.
-
I've seen a (poor-quality) weekend version of that open on TVARK, minus the ident at the front.a "hybrid" KYW open (watch and you'll see what I mean)
-
For that WRC clip, was was going on in the back during the newsroom shot? It looks like somebody had a poncho on, or was doing something with a garbage bag.
-
4.2 is CoziTV. I get it on my Comcast system, channel 248. I remember a few years ago they had WNBC 4.4 and it seemed to run nothing but DiC cartoons that were previously seen on WWOR.
-
Wow, that's a major error? Are all the East Coast NBC O&Os hubbed? That could explain it (or someone mixed up the promos in the computer systems).
-
That KOIN open uses a cut very similar to the cut used by WGHP in the late 80's. (Me and Raimie were discussing it last night in the shoutbox.)
-
It looks like they're doing First@4:00 from the newsroom today. New backdrop. They were doing the news from the studio this morning, so I don't know why they're doing this.
Never mind, for whatever reason, they just used a different BG and stayed on a tight shot of David and Liz; I'm not sure if this was due to technical problems.
-
They may have a good relationship with NBC, but their history is tumultuous. They were owned by Ted Turner back in the 70's; he then sold them to Group W, who promptly ran the station into the ground. Eventually other guys came, rescued the station and got it back off life support. Unfortunately, they've been saddled with owners who just don't know what to do with them; and with the fact that Gannett has many other, more successful stations in that region, means that WCNC keeps getting screwed over.

Yes! Please put in an hour long noon news! I've been waiting forever for someone to do that.
-
Well, it looks like 2003 all over again; when they rebranded to Fox 29 it was "Fox 29 Morning News", then Good Day. Now the name has returned, and expanded.
-
Actually, this new guy replaced Mike Lewis as the VO for the "Protect our Children" things.
-
Tim Fleischer anchored the morning news today with Toni Yates; he was pretty good.
-
Well, they should have at least repainted it more recently; it's still emblazoned with the JC Burns look from the 90's.
-
Has anyone noticed how, the AccuWeather background animation now has a bit of yellow-white coloring on the right side? It reminds me of the tops of the desks in the studio.
-
Remember, this guy's been inaccurate before, so just file the info away and wait patiently.
-
Probably because it's easier to go back to the newsroom and do it there rather than rush back into the studio and wait for the weather breaks and then go back for a few hours until noon.
-
I'm betting they just took a background graphic from somewhere and tinted it blue.
-
For the past couple months they've been introducing a ton of new animations and modifications to the graphics. For breaking news, the open's BG is now colored red and a far more urgent cut of music is used, and the lower thirds display "BREAKING NEWS" in a red rounded rectangle. A lot of stories are now prefaced with animations featuring the name of the region where the story is (NJ, Westchester, etc.), and it seems that they had Charlie van Dyke re-record portions of the First @ 4 talent intro for whatever reason.

That WRAL open looks very similar to the open used by WFMZ in 1999:
