6. Orlando from 20 years ago! WCPX prior to call sign change and a fairly rare newscast on WRBW (from WFTV)... WRBW (Orlando) May 12, 1997 10:00pm WFTV (Orlando) May 12, 1997 11:00pm WCPX (Orlando) May 15, 1997 6:00pm Again folks, as I find stuff, I post it. Right now, I'm focusing on getting the 20+ year old newscasts. Once I get to the 2000s, I've got tons, and it will take some time just in uploading stuff (just the real time converting and uploading the files takes a while - and I have a full-time+ job and am taking a class in the evenings). I'm going to start linking everything off of a web-site - which will probably become my "Classic Newscast Museum". Once I get stuff posted (and a standard page format developed), I'll let everyone know... Jim
7. As I find stuff from the 90s, I'm uploading. There's some WNYT somewhere in the stacks... I hadn't even noticed the "unique coloring" on the clip... Jim
8. Happy Thursday Night - 2 from Albany and another KPRC! WTEN (Albany) February 8, 1997 6:00pm WXXA (Albany) February 8, 1997 10:00pm KPRC (Houston) December 3, 1997 10:00pm Also, I'm testing some 30fps vs. 60fps content from SD: http://mezzogreen.com/kprc3060 Thoughts/Comments? (Vimeo seems to be giving me fits with the 60fps video...)
9. Bonus video from the South... WBRC (Birmingham) September 10, 1994
10. Happy Midweek! 2 Post-network Switch newscasts from DFW. KTVT (Ft. Worth) August 25, 1995 10:00pm WFAA (Dallas) August 26, 1995 6:00pm J
11. KPNX ran Wonderful World of Disney from 5-7pm, rather than 6-8pm (as was done in Central Time zone). I believe at that time, when the NFL ran long, Disney was "joined in progress", thus a 7pm newscast guaranteed that they full half hour (+ the full Nightly News West Coast feed) ran in their entirety. J
12. As requested, some video from the red stick... WBRZ (Baton Rouge) September 9, 1994 10:00pm
13. Here's the last of the Phoenix stuff I've found... There may be more, but right now, I have a whole bunch of other things in the queue. KTVK (Phoenix) May 2, 1992 6:00pm KPNX (Phoenix) May 3, 1992 7:00pm KSAZ (Phoenix) April 30, 1994 10:00pm
14. I try to stay positive, but to me, that was brutal... J
15. I plan to add a KXAN open from that timeframe to that newscast (with a fade to black) and will update. I was disappointed that the open was chopped... J
16. Weekend Update: WESH (Orlando) May 23, 1990 5:30pm KXAN (Austin) January 31, 1990 10:00pm (Missing Open) KPRC (Houston) July 2, 1992 10:00pm KVUE (Austin) February 22, 1993 5:00pm
17. WXIA (Atlanta) September 12, 1994 5:30am - I think this package would translate well into HD... Jim
18. Here's some 30 year-old goodness from Baltimore. I found this on an old tape and knew I needed to post it... This is my second-oldest newscast I recorded (that I've found so far). The oldest is a mid-summer 10pm from KCEN (it was supposed to be KTVV, but due to interference, the Channel 36 signal dropped from our cable system, as I was recording "a Thursday night of NBC"). At the time WMAR didn't carry the Tonight Show, pre-empted NBC often for Orioles Baseball, and didn't clear parts of the NBC daytime schedule (thank goodness WRC, which I could also receive at the time, did clear the entire schedule - can't miss the game shows!). I do chuckle at Ken Matz struggling through "North American Man Boy Love Association" during the tease... Also, during the 6pm newscast, the 2 logo flies toward the screen to the studio through the hole in the 2. Enjoy! WMAR (Baltimore) August 28, 1987 11:00pm Jim
19. They had no real emphasis to change - as a 180s/190s ranked market with 1 commercial and 1 PBS station (a satellite out of Richmond, I believe). Everything else was out of market on cable; not bad for a one-station college town (reminds me of Bryan/College Station during the mid 80s...). Jim
20. More from my 1998 Trip: WRC (Washington) August 28, 1998 11:00pm WUSA (Washington) August 28, 1998 11:00pm WWBT (Richmond) August 28, 1998 11:00pm WVIR (Charlottesville) August 28, 1998 11:00pm Jim
21. Rochester & Kalamazoo WOKR (Rochester) August 26, 1998 11:00pm R News (Rochester) August 26, 1998 10:00pm WROC (Rochester) August 26, 1998 11:00pm WWMT (Kalamazoo) August 21, 1998 6:00pm Jim
22. Just wait until I post the KKTM newscast open and close... I've never seen a plywood set - where you can see the grain of the plywood... (That one may have to go onto YouTube...)
23. Last thing from Phoenix for a while - I think I've gotten everything I can for the near term... (I'm also on a business trip for a week, so I'll be posting pre-uploaded content through early next week...) KPHO April 1994 - Fresh News! Jim
24. Now for a little Atlanta 1994: WAGA, WGNX & WXIA IMHO, that WXIA package would do well in HD... (especially with the Serifed fonts) Jim
