Glad to see that I'm not the only crazy person out there! If YouTube starts giving you trouble, you may consider what I did - a Vimeo (or other hosting provider) account. I pay for the "Plus" account, which lets me upload 5GB/week - I paid about $60 for the year with an on-line coupon at the time. 5 GB/week covers 12-13 newscasts, which I convert to mp4 and sit at about 400MB for a 30 minute program - it's a good balance of compression and quality. From there I usually post 10 newscasts/week (and am building up a reserve for when I'm out of town and can't upload...). The best part is if someone complains, I just take the offending video private - I can still share with folks (via a password), but it's not "out in the wild"... Jim

Not sure, but WDVM (formerly WHAG) has added the "25" back into promotions - not part of the logo or the newscast name (yet), but I suspect it's to re-emphasize the channel number, as more people cut the cord, plus WDVM is being introduced OTA into the DC market proper via both a transmitter relocation as well as being added as "guest" subchannel on WFDC (which has WDCA as a channel-share)... When I posted full newscasts (and even just some clips) on YT years ago, CBS threw a fit regarding KCNC's newscast (even though it wasn't owned by CBS when the newscast was recorded...), and had it pulled. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere for hosting (where I control the content better...). Jim

Interesting, as WDVM also has a Transmitter change in work that will finally provide a signal into metro DC itself - I live on the top of a hill, with an antenna in my attic and am looking forward to finally (re)getting WDVM, now that I’ve dropped cable... J

Or KWTX in Waco - I remember during the 80s heading back to College Station from Dallas, there would be folks parked at rest stops along I-35 “tailgating” with a TV to watch the Cowboys on a Sunday afternoon when the Cowboys didn’t sell out....

I believe it was NBC Primary at that time, based on both the news theme (which included the NBC sonic logo in it), as well as NBC programming (Tonight Show) - but I think this timeframe was close to the network switch, as there weren’t any network identifying promotions, but just generic slides for the network programs, and the Open didn’t include the earlier video with the shots including the Proud N logo J

I wouldn’t call these rip-offs. They’re numbers in a specific font - that’s the same as saying WJLA’s circle 7 logo is a rip-off of WABC, KABC, KGO, WLS’s logo, since WJLA isn’t an ABC owned and operated station... A rip-off isn’t using the same package as another unrelated station. A rip-off is trying to create a similar looking package (usually on the cheap), but not pulling it off well. For example, this KALB newscast open (not sure if it was used on air or not): https://youtu.be/dLlFpX68s68 at duplicating the WNBC’s 2010 open: https://youtu.be/5Mk0FFM8nrE IMHO is a distinct ripoff... My parents (70s) have their routine (Dallas): TV is never on before noon Noon is CNN Off mid-afternoon 4pm - CBS11 5pm - WFAA8 5:30 - ABC World New Tonight 6pm - Jeopardy (TXA21) 6:30 - Wheel of Fortune (CBS11) Prime time varies, but usually the TV is off at 7 - unless Dad goes upstairs for a Ranger’s Game; Mom stays downstairs reading, knitting or possibly watching something previously recorded. 10pm - CBS11 News 10:35 - Colbert They complain about the cost, but when I suggest a cheaper package - that shuts down the conversation... Because they might want to watch HBO or Showtime or VOD or... Whereas I’ve become television’s worst nightmare: someone in their 50s who doesn’t watch TV...

Amarillo is a “fresh out” market - kiddos right out of college. I had a couple of college mates who started there right out of school (and then moved up and out after a year or two) - especially on the weekend, where crews are very thin. i’d just chalk it up to lack of experience. J

But also using the slogan/theme for nearly 30 years! (1978-2006) J

Glenwood Springs (and thus KREG) is in the Denver market - 1.438% on the cap Dkenver provides, but it’s a VHF station (so no discount), and assuming Nexstar is somewhat close, selling off this station could provide cap space for several smaller markets (easily 3 sub-50 markets without any discounts).... How? Other than the 12 being inside the circle (negative space), I see little resemblance. if you follow that logic, then KTVU’s logo is a ripoff of any logo inside a circle prior to 1975.... J
