On the flip side, it’s some of the same viewers who have issues in embracing change when it’s needed I think they will just go with CBS Chicago/CBS News Chicago. WBBM doesn’t seem to be as traditional as WCCO, KDKA, or WBZ.

Channel references really don’t matter anymore in this digital age. This why stations like KDKA, WBZ, WCCO, KCBS, KCNC, and WWJ are all doing away with them. Don’t be shocked if WBBM soon follows suit.

Question is, will WBBM follow WWJ, KCNC, and KCBS (somewhat) in going with the CBS Chicago/CBS News Chicago name?? Don’t be surprised if the CBS 2 name is officially retired in name and in logo. Speaking of WCCO…

WBBM could be right after WCCO. Either WBBM will go the WCBS route, or they will go with the WWJ route and just call themselves CBS News Chicago/CBS Chicago, with no logo box at all.

KCNC already has the CBS graphics. The WBBM one posted is only a mock.

They are clearly coping KDKA with the local football team colors. Told you they were eyeing WCBS and KDKA. The eye 3 box is clearly WCBS and the local team colors is KDKA.

Again, they just hired another producer and meteorologist. Weekend newscasts are coming soon. Latest is June. Earliest is mid May.

Overall the feedback seems to be positive. However, you have some crybabies from a particular site I shall keep nameless, who are not only refusing to give CBS News Detroit a fair chance, they are looking for any lame excuse to bash it. It’s like they don’t want to like it. Their complaints about it are so delusional and so ridiculous, it’s not even funny. I know there are 2,4, and 7 fanboys in the Detroit market, but my goodness. This is why I left that site, because all they do is whine and complain. With each argument, they lose credibility.

Lol boy has times changed!! 4 years later and they are about to launch a 9 am newscast.

I won’t be shocked if the debut of the weekend newscasts happen in the summer. I feel the holdback is hiring a new meteorologist.

Since I used to live near Pittsburgh yeses ago, I know they are a traditional market. Again, to each it’s own!!! I grew up watching stations like KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI. Used to watch stations like WTRF and WTOV as a kid too. Again, used to live near Pittsburgh and wasn’t too far from Wheeling, WVa and Steubenville, Ohio.

I knew WBZ would follow the same route as KDKA and to a lesser extent, KPIX. Those are all legacy stations. Those traditionalists in the Boston, Pittsburgh, and Bay Area markets would all freak out if they completely went with CBS Boston/Pittsburgh/Bay Area. KPIX is used for general programming and CBS BA for newscasts. Question is, which route will KYW go? I feel it’s going to go with the CBS Philadelphia route but I could be wrong.

This call letter box is what I like. Makes sense that WBZ is going the same route as KDKA and KPIX. I would’ve loved it if WWJ used the call letters box, but it makes sense that they didn’t. There would be too much confusion between WWJ-TV and WWJ News radio 950.

The station website shows the 9 am newscast as debuting on Monday, April 3rd. The Saturday 6 pm listing for this past Saturday was a mistake, as it was never mentioned by the station.

I believe WWJ-TV had the option of using the entire CBS opening for its newscasts. I know they have it available, as was shown in the demos. However, the station opted to go with the shorter version. Don’t agree with it at all, as they need to show images of Detroit. I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes in a few months. As for who’s next to upgrade, I say it’s either between KYW, WJZ, and WBZ.
