I think KDKA is trying to keep the KDKA News branding as long as they can. But, even thru know they are going to lose this fight, just like the early 2000s when they had to use the O&O style logo.

They are still hiring for weekends. That’s why. 11pm will be in April, more than likely. From what I’ve been told, they wanted to slow down on adding new newscasts to give Detroiters a chance to know the new anchors and reporters. Also heard the ratings so far, are a lot better than expected.

Nice!!! I think KDKA might be next. By early next month the latest. They might be trying to hold onto that KDKA-TV News name but I think I they know they’ve already lost that battle.

I like WWJ’s news opening. They aren’t flashy and it’s reflective on the serious tone CBS is going for. I think KCAL/KCBS is way too flashy. KPIX is too. I think WCBS is getting the new graphics very soon.

Locally, Sandra Ali made her debut today. Didn’t air until 6 am and second hour aired at 7 on the app. Execution was rough the first hour but was way better in the second. Morning newscasts are fairly new so that’s to be expected. Midday and evenings flow way better.

I also think KDKA, just like the silly little Pittsburgh Steelers fans, are stuck in the past. They know they can’t resist the inevitable lol. They will soon be called CBS News Pittsburgh. Same with you KYW. Silly little traditionalists lol.

Expansion of morning newscasts are official. Drew Barrymore moves to WKBD overnights at 3 am beginning next Monday.

KCNC is now known as CBS Colorado, joining KCBS/KCAL, KPIX, and WWJ as the stations to completely do away with their channel reference. Who’s next? Lol IMG_3994.MOV

Here is how to fix the KDKA issue: Just call It CBS Pittsburgh but keep the KDKA call letter box. This is probably why WWJ-TV doesn’t use the call letter box but just calls it CBS Detroit, in name and in logo. They branded the station WWJ-TV from 2008-2012 but many confused it with WWJ AM 950. This is probably one of the reasons why CBS eventually changed the name to ‘CBS 62.’

Relax, it was a typo. KDKA did fight to keep the Westinghouse era 2. They fought for several years but eventually lost that battle in 2003. This was when they officially used the CBS 2 logo, yet still branding itself as KDKA/TV

I think stations like KDKA and WJZ will try to fight being rebranded as CBS Pittsburgh/CBS Baltimore but both will lose that battle. If KDKA was unable to keep the Westinghouse era ‘2’, than you know they will be called CBS Pittsburgh/CBS News Pittsburgh.
