Similar to how WLNS from Lansing MI works with CBS O&O WWJ for coverage coming out of the state capital. CBS News Detroit does cover Lansing.
-
Talked to one of the main anchors yesterday and he said 6 am would start today. However, there wouldn’t be a full morning newscast for a few weeks. More than likely, weekends will debut first, then the 4:30 am and 5 am newscasts.

https://titantv.com/default.aspx The 6 am newscast starts tomorrow

Hmmmmmmm
-
Probably in the next one or two weeks.

Question is, will KYW get rid of its channel reference?? I think KDKA is right after KYW.
-
Not that. Been that way for years. Otter questionable decisions, especially with their scheduling during sweeps among others.
-
Opening is way too generic imo, they need to show shots of Metro Detroit. Also, Kris Laudien is new to the station. He came from KARE tv.
-
Oh well. Looks like KDKA will indeed completely get rid of its channel reference. My only complaint about WWJ is its opening, I wish they would show more Detroit landmarks in the News opening. I love the graphics but the opening is way too generic. Also. talked sigh someone from WWJ and it looks like the morning newscasts will debut within a couple weeks.

So far the CBS stations to get rid of its channel reference: KCBS KPIX WWJ KDKA (coming soon) Expected: WJZ KYW (possible) Won’t: WCBS WBBM WBZ It looks like KDKA doesn’t want to totally get rid of its channel reference, if that anchor desk is any indicator.
-
Looks like WBZ isn’t getting rid of its channel reference. Just saw a promo for CBS News Boston and the CBS 4 WBZ logo was in a box, next ti the CBS News Boston logo.
-
Just speculation, based on some questionable decisions WDIV has made, in relation to NBC.
-
Agreed! which CBS station will be the next to receive the graphics???

I remember when WOIO started it’s news operation in early 1995. They only had a 6 and 11 pm newscast. For years, WOIO not only struggled, it was always treated as a step child to WKYC, WEWS, and WJW. Took years for it to expand but they did. So far, WWJ is off to a much better start than WOIO did in 1995.
-
What is going on with WDIV? They are losing people right and left, and bringing back people who already left. Are they preparing to go Indy?
-
Don’t be shocked if morning newscasts come by the 20th or 27th of February. apparently they want the intended time slots to be filled by early March. I believe the anchors for mornings are already hired.
-
Agreed! I’ve noticed the ones who complained are the ones who aren’t used to it. Heard a lot of places are playing CBS News Detroit. Network and advertisers both seem to be happy.
-
This is why I eventually see WJBK becoming Fox Detroit, and WTTG, WNYW, and WAGA becoming Fox DC, Fox New York, and Fox Atlanta.
-
Heard a 9 am and 12 pm newscasts are coming.
-
I think CBS News Detroit is doing way better than what anyone anticipated. WWJ is obviously targeting a whole new audience and a lot of people are tuning in. That interview from TVnews.net really spoke volumes. https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/talking-tv-cbs-goes-live-with-news-at-wwj-detroit/?no_cache=1675554224&fbclid=IwAR3hARN5O_Io7MOlA7oQvGfVGLxgsmeu_dJpcBN6La-CF-HwsQHQLrWAL2Y&mibextid=tejx2t

That’s just a dress rehearsal for the eventual weekend newscasts. They did this last week for the special edition of the 4pm newscast when they were reporting on the snow storm. The 4pm newscast debuts on Monday.
-
WCBS, WBBM, and KYW should be next. KDKA is going to be in April or May. There is heavy speculation that KDKA and KYW will indeed, rebrand their newscasts as CBS News Pittsburgh/Philadelphia.
-
This explains their recent anchor hires. There’s speculation that WWJ just hired an anchor from cross town rival WDIV..
-
WWJ expanded to a 5pm newscast on Monday. Noon and 4pm are coming soon, as are the morning newscasts.
-
Yuck!!!
