I've heard KMBC has plucked WGAL's News Director for their open ND job (another Hearst-to-Hearst transfer). That seems like it would be a good get, considering how well WGAL performs.

#NexstarProducing is trending on Twitter. Anyone know what's going on?
They're having a company seminar on producing better shows and writing better teases.

A KNBC-TV vehicle either overheated in the 100-degree weather, or got a bit too close to the action covering a wildfire. (Cue the old "Can you still give me a live shot? joke.)

It sounds like WRIC has a disgruntled employee. Another memo appeared on FTVLive.

KCTV news brief - 6 October 1988

Newscasts started with a title sponsor for the entire program, and we'll probably end that way too. I don't like it, but that's the way it goes. Our sports segment is sponsored. So is traffic during certain hours. Let's not forget the ticker, the stock report (which takes ten seconds), the movie reviews, the tech report, one feature franchise.

I would describe that as more of an "umbrella open," KMBC trying to make it look like they have several urgent stories when they really don't. That's a producer/executive producer decision, not a Hearst thing.

Out: KOTV6/Tula--Scott Thompson
http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/5/25/gone-in-tulsa
One of my former co-workers is now the ND at KOTV. I wonder what's going on down there. They clipped many of their managers a few months ago. Now some longtime talent is leaving.

Stella Thurkill was one of my anchors when I worked at KTKA in Topeka. I had no idea she still worked in TV news. That's pretty good longevity for a female on-air talent.
