  1. I like that it's shorter but it now has nothing to do with the station. They should have done either GainerCBS or GainerCBS2.
  2. Its funny because it has gone back and forth a few times. About a year and a half ago, GMA was #1 on Facebook, I guess Today wanted to go all out to pass GMA and now GMA has decided to go all out and beat Today. And it looks like Today is trying to come back because they have started a Facebook promotion where if you like the page, you have a chance to go to Studio 1A during the program. Its fun to watch.... Also, the "weather center" in GMA's studio has the two side screens again.
  3. For about an hour, WABC was out on Cablevision. All the anchors and reporters are saying it is a Cablevision problem. It is starting to come back now.
  4. Rob Nelson debuted as weekend morning anchor this morning. Here are the first pictures... https://twitter.com/behindnynews/status/424499304653660160 https://twitter.com/behindnynews/status/424500529314934784
  5. I'm not sure what his name is but WABC has recently been switching between Charlie Van Dyke and someone else doing V/O's. Not sure why but they even changed the "Protect Your Children" to the new voice which had previously been Charlie's voice.
  6. I think along with 11am and weekend mornings, WPIX should add a 6 or 6:30pm weekday newscast anchored by Kaity. She has the experience to solo and she has plenty of awareness in the public to attract viewers. She doesn't have to replace Tamsen at 5 and 10 or anything, just add 6pm and have her anchor. And they should make it a big deal and advertise a lot of "Kaity's Back! Weeknights at 6pm." They need a serious news package (even if they go back to the classic WPIX package). They need new graphics and a new set badly as well. The talent really isn't a problem anymore, Mark just needs to tell them to get serious and the content needs to change to a more classic newscast. Its really not the talent, especially the newer talent. And yeah, they need to advertise more, but they are...
  7. Diana Williams posted she is on vacation.
  8. Also, looks like Today's big week of advertising didn't help them... http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/press-release/
  9. Sam Champion was on Today this morning. Idk, it just didn't feel right to me, too used to him being at ABC.
  10. And here is his first report... http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/new_york&id=9394017
  11. Rob Nelson debuted tonight. https://twitter.com/behindnynews/status/423577701136728064
  12. I feel like Diana always brings this "freshness" to the 11pm news. I really wish she anchored more than just at 5pm.
  13. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/bio?section=resources/inside_station/newsteam&id=9381127
  14. I have noticed that recently, when Sade is off, rather than having Bill or David fill in for her at 5pm, they have Joe Torres filling in much more than in the past. A few months ago, it was David, Bill or Lori filling in. Now it is more often Joe (or Lori). I wonder if this has anything to do with them trying to build another "Bill" for whenever Bill retires. Anyway, very interesting. She did this morning as well. Bill is on vacation. In fact, the morning newscast was all women this morning, Lori, Michele, Heather and Amy and I have to say, when they do this, they do a really good job! http://instagram.com/p/jGxwK2kAdN/
  15. I agree with your description of Rachel. She seems like she should be reporting from the red carpet, not anchoring on GMA.
  16. Its not like she is a foreign affairs correspondent, she does light news (the news that pops) etc... she doesn't need to be as serious as Martha Raddatz.
  17. He did a very good job, he even interviewed someone. Michele and Rob will debut next week, Michele will be in for Ken this week.
  18. I didn't think of him at first, but I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes permanent.
  19. I would be great if it wasn't but yeah, probably is...
  20. Looks like GMA is back after a slight lull in ratings... http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2014/01/gma-is-1-for-the-week-in-total-viewers-and-both-key-demos/ “GMA” Bests “Today” by 1.12 Million Viewers- Marking the Largest Total Viewer Lead Over “Today” in 20 Years
  21. CBS This morning tied the Today Show last week in Total Viewers. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2014/01/gma-is-1-for-the-week-in-total-viewers-and-both-key-demos/
  22. His first day anchoring will be the 18th.
  23. Erika Tarentel is leaving WNBC to go to Boston. Final broadcast is tonight at 11pm. My guess is after Rob and Sibila joined weekdays, she said "I have no future at WNBC" and went and found an opportunity elsewhere. I don't blame her if thats why. My guess is either Contessa or Gus take her spot.
  24. So in other words, its everyone's personal opinion. Because I respect WN and think it is a quality broadcast. You can disagree, thats fine, I can agree to disagree, but the ratings say it all. WN is doing very well. If it wasn't a good broadcast, people would not be watching it. If you want all hard news, there is a broadcast for that, if you want a 60 minutes style newscast, there is a broadcast for that, if you want news effecting your life and family, there is broadcast for that. Why should we only have hard news as an option? Because thats what the 6:30 EST half hour is "supposed to be?" All I am saying is there is nothing wrong with "WN" and just because it isn't hard news all the time doesn't mean it isn't respected. If you wait until the end of every ABC news program, it says "ABC News, America's #1 News Source." So they are supposed to throw away years of brand recognition because the main focus of the show isn't world news anymore? They would be very stupid to do that.
  25. Based on the ratings, its a rather respectable broadcast now. And I understand that people on this site dislike WN because it is lighter than the others but that doesn't make WN or Diane Sawyer "bad." They get to the news and then offer helpful and interesting stories. Its not like they are interviewing the Kardashians on WN. And that is good because then there would not be a huge change and it wouldn't change viewing habits as much. And also by that article, on days that George fills in, the ratings decline which does not happen with David. And this is also important to keep in mind. But I wouldn't consider it George's broadcast next automatically.
