Reminds me a little bit of WPVI's lower third. Fine for special events, but I hope they're not planning to roll that design out. Too dated.

Renee Stoll has joined WABC as a freelance reporter. Her first report aired tonight: http://7online.com/education/flushing-students-project-destroyed-in-rocket-explosion/373723/.

Wasn't sure if it was in the weeks following or on the one-year anniversary. Thanks for clarifying. Not to burst any bubbles, but WABC actually put that video together last year for the 1st anniversary.
Either way, I don't think when they compiled it takes away from how well-done it is.

This has to be one of the best video montages I have ever seen. WABC put it together shortly after Hurricane Sandy and shared it again today on the anniversary of Sandy's landfall. It highlights beautifully the power and storytelling of the Eyewitness News enterprise and its people.

They won't have access to offices while the renovations happen because the offices and the enitre space is being gutted and redone. It's a long overdue and much need renovation for a newsroom that's had the same basic look and layout since, at least, the early 1990s.
According to another post by Cho, the offices are being eliminated completely.
-
Over the past several weeks a number of anchors and reporters have indicated on social media that the newsroom is about to undergo a six-month renovation. Several posted pictures of them cleaning out their offices. Some suggested that they're "losing" their offices. Not clear if they mean they won't be able to access their offices while the renovation is underway, or if WABC is getting rid of anchor offices and moving them all to cubicles with the reporters.
Here's a picture Liz Cho posted of the temporary digs: https://www.facebook.com/billritter.wabc/posts/10152884433019047

New promo: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152485952419091
I think it's a little cheesy, but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

Very clear that new promos are coming based on posts and pictures shared by various EWN anchors on social media over the past few days.
Here's a video teaser NJ Burkett posted of one of the scenes:
-
Maybe she meant new weather set?Just read this from News12 LI meteorologist Samantha Augeri's facebook account:
News 12 LI isn't getting a whole new set, is it? Their current one isn't that outdated. But the way she worded it almost made me think that they were. And if they really were, they would probably have to move into the newsroom or onto a temporary set anyway, so I doubt it's a new set, probably just new equipment.

Cecilia in the chair yet again. Odds seem to be in her favor. Wonder what happened with Jarvis.
-
Yeah, the narrator talks about coming to the show for breaking news while the visuals show the anchors laughing and schmoozing.Nice music, awful promo.
I'm not sure I like the music, but I guess the attempt is to brand the 4 as a fun show?

It's a new promo for First at Four: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152391801034091&set=vb.31160214090&type=2&theaterNoticed a new WABC promo using the song "Come Get It Bae" by Pharrell Williams.
The voice of the promo sounded like the same guy who voices the Verizon FiOS ads.

Absolutely. Especially when she's around Gio Benitez, she's a loose cannon.More than just her voice, she acts like a snobby, annoying little kid and crosses the line at times with some of the comments she makes. Not someone I'd want to hang around with, or watch for that matter. No wonder she usually doesn't fill in for Lara on weekdays...
-
I'm not usually one to comment on someone's performance in that way, but I have to agree.Still can't stand Sarah Haines's voice - it's like nails on a chalkboard to me!
-
Judging by this tweet, Cecilia Vega anchoring tonight.
-
Surprised not something with ABC in it, like @ABCWNTonight or @WNTabc. Both are available at the moment.ABC has now changed the twitter handle of World News Tonight to @WNTonight

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/09/david-muir-world-news-110490.htmlFun Fact: On 'Kelly & Michael' this morning, David admitted that he and Diane had been tossing around the idea of returning to 'World News Tonight' for a few years, and this transition seemed like the best opportunity. The reason? "Everybody still calls it that."
-
Great article in the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/02/arts/television/abcs-bet-on-david-muir-of-world-news-tonight.html?_r=0
ABC News must really have arranged a good media blitz.
-
Gotcha. Wasn't near a TV and couldn't find out online. Thanks, all.
-
Who anchored this evening?
-
Do we know if David is anchoring tonight or if someone is subbing?
-
This aired during GMA this morning. I must say the entire transition is being handled incredibly effectively vis a vis maintaining viewership. So much learned about what NOT to do from the mishaps of NBC.First promo for David, by Diane and has cameos from the last 3 whose their names were in the title. WNT is back according to this promo
-
Either the EP, or David, or James Goldston. If you read about the new EP's background, it sounds like he's got a pretty strong hard-news background, so maybe he's fond of the Jennings-era broadcast. It's clear that the rename to "World News Tonight" was a last-minute decision. Those titles are clearly for "World News with David Muir", and it's obvious "Tonight" was edited into the titles at the very last minute. (I'm also not 100% sure, but one of the shots still has "DIANE" at least in the shadows under "DAVID"... or it's a Diane image that they didn't bother to re-render.)
ABC switched up executive producers, so I wonder if the move back to "Tonight" was one of the first things the new EP did.

Right. Moreover, because Amy was preparing to anchor World News yesterday evening, she was already in the building, on the World News floor, and near the desk.I'm not singling you out, and I apologize if this comes across as a little confrontational, I can assure it's not meant in such a way, but...
Why is this so difficult for people to understand? Back in the day, Peter or Charlie (Diane's not a good example) anchored WNT. They were, perhaps by default as dictated by their predecessors, the chief anchors of the network. When the big stories broke, they were the guys the bosses wanted in the chair. They were the faces of the news division, and in some way, all of ABC. However, they weren't there every time the special report siren sounded. They got weekends off, and Lord knows they had plenty of vacation time. In that instance, someone like a Woodruff, Vargas, Harris, or Stephanopoulos would come to bat. While the head honchos preferred to see the big bananas at the desk, it was never possible for them to be there EVERY TIME. Look at 9/11, for example. Gibson and Sawyer, being on the air, handled coverage for about thirty minutes while Jennings got ready to take over. Maybe he wasn't in the office yet. Maybe he was sleeping. Maybe he was brushing his teeth. Maybe he was at an aerobics class. The only thing that ultimately matters is that they report the news, and work hard to get the product (and sooner or later the anchor) to the airwaves.
What happened today was a POTUS news conference. They're a dime a dozen, and while the material may be important, it's not a make or break for any network. Sawyer hung it up on Wednesday, Muir isn't supposed to start til Monday, and Stephanopoulos is probably going out of town, and not about to delay his 4 day weekend.
George will do 90% of special reports, and like 99.9% of big events, but he's not going to always be on the hook to come in just because a politician sneezed. Sawyer wasn't. Gibson wasn't. Not even Jennings wasn't. So, why should George? He is the chief anchor for the network, but he anchors the morning show. That's all there is to it.
That should really clear that up, I would think.
