  1. Probably not but the reason I brought it up is because McCoy's previous stations, KIDY/KXVA, paid KABB to run their morning and 9PM news along with running their own news capsules. In the news capsules they referred to the KABB news as "regional and state headlines". They basically tried to give the impression the newscast was their own. They even ran some bumpers using the old SD Sinclair background and Daily News. I'm pretty sure people in Abilene and San Angelo also don't care about San Antonio news and KABB never mentioned the arrangement aside from briefly doing a quick one-day forecast for Abilene and San Angelo.
  2. I'm curious to see what design "Great Day SA" gets when the main newscasts get the Gannett look. GDSA uses a variant of the main Hothaus pack and so it'll look odd to see new graphics on the news and then the same old graphics on GDSA. Anybody ever thought about that predicament? Also, I wish KENS5 would get the new graphics already. Whenever they show a map it looks weird because it basically clashes with everything else and the font doesn't match. However, from watching this evening, there's no sign aside from maps that they're getting new graphics.
  3. Well, maybe they'll add news capsules like they did in San Angelo/Abilene. And a coincidence? Scripps happens to own the Evansville paper. They partnered with the Scripps paper in Abilene and San Angelo to do news capsules and maybe they can do it in Evansville too. If they want to top that off, they can pay a nearby CBS affiliate to simulcast their local news.
  4. About time. ComCorp should finally get approved with this news. Though if how KIDY/KXVA is any indication, watch WEVV turn to crap. London actually improved those stations and with Gannett they're going to get even better. (never thought I'd say Gannett actually improved a station)
  5. Pure speculation on my end, but has WKRC already found their replacement for Kit Andrews? Said anchor left WTWO this week and the new station is supposed to make an announcement next week. Betting $25 it's WKRC for a variety of reasons. Stay tuned...
  6. Fred, meet Sara, Bethany and Paul.
  7. This must be a new mandate. When I was there last year, the ABC logo was almost nowhere to be found on KIII's air. If you didn't see network programming, you'd have almost no idea they're an ABC affiliate.
  8. I can't picture that with the new Gannett graphics. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. And since Gannett likes to include the network logo with the station logo, it will look even more odd to see the ABC logo with KIII 3 (the only time I've ever seen the ABC logo with the KIII one is during the bug they air for five seconds during national ABC programing before the main ABC logo shows up) Hopefully I have an excuse to go to Corpus Christi next year so I can get KIII news footage with their new graphics (I go to Corpus every couple of years, if you have no reason to go, don't, it's a dump with the most horrible drinking water I've ever encountered). I'm going to miss Third Coast though. This Is Home does not fit Corpus at all and I'm kinda nervous to see how KENS manages to use it. Also, I will go buy a TV tuner before KENS gets the new graphics so I can upload high quality footage and not see some dude upload video from their livestream.
  9. As I said in an earlier post Sinclair had it changed to 2245. It previously was 2589.
  10. It used to just be "This is ABC 22 News at 11". Don't know why they felt the need to add in the address. Though it does look like they had the address changed to match the channel numbers. hehe (the address when WBDT occupied the building was 2589 Corporate Pl)
  11. Multi-media journalist = one-man band reporter = sometimes you'll have to go out without a photog and be expected to report, shoot, edit and front your story Gannett's legacy stations like to use the term "backpack journalist" for this but it's the same thing. If he was doing social media reporting they would blatantly say he's a social media or online reporter.
  12. That was a pretty good report. They tell the truth which is rare for news stations these days. Yes, it's a must run and they used a WBFF reporter (should've used a national reporter) but it was a good report nonetheless. KABB and WOAI both took the report. KABB has it on their site: http://www.foxsanantonio.com/news/features/featured/stories/legislation-could-change-way-we-watch-tv-1615.shtml
  13. KENS needs a new logo. The current one is ugly as hell. No way could they incorporate the CBS eye without it looking out of place.
  14. Hey, at least WCNC has way more stability than WGCL.
  15. Oh boy. Just another reason why I don't watch KENS http://jimromenesko.com/2014/07/24/lame-san-antonio-tv-station-declines-to-name-restaurant-caught-storing-food-in-the-bathroom/ (BTW, I had never heard of that restaurant until this story. I hardly ever go to that part of town anyways and I don't eat at five-star restaurants either so I'm not bothered, Also KABB is awesome for naming the restaurant.) Somebody wrote WATE meteorologist Julya Johnson a not so nice letter https://www.facebook.com/WATE.JulyaJohnson/photos/a.151732041580812.39561.150805105006839/669138376506840/?type=1&permPage=1
  16. That logo does not match the graphics at all. The gold version of the ABC logo makes it look even worse.
  17. Actually he got the shaft. Adrienne Roark, the old ND of KTVT is now GM at KOIN. I don't know why TVSpy didn't mention that, considering they covered her hiring. Tyrannical Bastard, does WPMI still have their horrid "social media reporter" during the morning news?
  18. I don't. They're on 36, not 6. I don't care for cable positions especially because satellite and U-verse doesn't conform to it
  19. Meanwhile, KARE is now using some in-house elements and is using Video Helper tracks instead of TiH: [yt]8jx2jJMIGYA[/yt]
  20. The opening cut is horrendous. The WWL cut is the one they should use. I know you don't like This is Home, but it's definitely one of Gari's better works as of late. There's cuts I hate like that one, then there's really good cuts like the WWL one, the one KING and WWL use for weather, the traffic bumper, the sports bumper etc.
  21. I wonder if those 3 people were FCC agents....
  22. Why does KGW have to use the crappiest cuts of TiH?
  23. Alright, so I was watching Channel 5 News and I saw this: Looks like they are in the early stages of implementing the graphics.
  24. Not trying to defend number 3, but not everybody has a computer.... Then again, I don't who actually cares about the public file other than the FCC itself....
  25. Wasn't WUSA that station? They had weekend morning newscasts a few years back but at present do not have any.
