  1. They did a nice little piece about their new building (which will now be called the Sinclair Broadcast Center). They showed off the new logo which is the same except they changed the 4 out and replaced it with a more generic 4 (without the star). It looks more generic now. They showed off a graphic preview so it's white on blue to be more consistent with the other Sinclair stations. They also gave a set preview. It's Devlin and it looks like a typical design for them. It has a couch on it because that's the only part they showed. It's in the former KABB newsroom space so the ceiling dimensions are a bit low for a TV studio. You could see it in the shots they showed. Will be interesting to see how that translates on TV. First newscast from the new building, Sunday at 5. Everything else has been there already, like the newsroom, master control, and sales. So the anchors and newscast production are now reunited with everyone else. I will try to post a video in a few hours unless they post online then I will just put the link up. I will also post a high-quality off air montage first newscast. EDIT: Last newscasts will be Saturday night. Don Harris and David Robinson ("The Admiral") will help close it out. SECOND EDIT: Came across this article from MySA talking about their new building. It's a few days old but I just now saw it. MySA is such a joke of a website now I hardly go on there. Jakle is not a great columnist either but at least she has contacts. It features a pic of the new set though. Not impressed. http://www.mysanantonio.com/entertainment/entertainment_columnists/jeanne_jakle/article/WOAI-anchors-sad-to-exit-downtown-5961351.php Also WOAI is getting a new morning meteorologist on Monday, Jeannette Calle. I am surprised they hired somebody honestly. I thought Mike Hernandez was going to be permanently on mornings considering he was in promos and everything but I guess not.
  2. if they are it will probably suck, the current logo is very nice and characteristic of the market and they have used a version of the same 4 for nearly 20 years. can't wait to see what they'll go with and there can't be a seamless transition from one facility to the other? why do you have to go off air for the weekend? I will be watching at 10. Also where are you getting Sunday from? It said in that tweet you linked to they will be there Monday. EDIT: it looks like the morning show was their last show downtown. Interesting to see what they're going to do at 10. The thing that sucks is, they never told their viewers they were moving and which date. Basically they blindsided them and screwed them over. I knew it was coming in December but not today. I doubt most of their viewers knew. EDIT #2: Never mind, they are currently airing a live newscast. I had to walk to the other room to confirm it. I guess at 10 they will do one last show.
  3. I never really noticed that... You're right though. I really need to get some video up...
  4. I believe they still have the same set now, but it's been heavily refreshed. Would be nice if they would at least get a new desk that doesn't scream 80's...
  5. I think Fox requested the app be dismissed. They have no need to purchase the station now because IIRC they renewed their affiliation with KCPQ.
  6. That was put in by some guy who really wants to see Antenna TV on one of WOAI's digital subchannels... Before Live Well announced its closure that article said Antenna TV was on 4.3... (WOAI has never had a 4.3 though) Disregard it unless we hear official confirmation from them...
  7. Not sure where you are getting WOAI airing Antenna TV from... No station here airs it.
  8. GM John Koski and ND Ken Jobe are gone from WHBQ. Cox wants to bring in their own people (of course)... http://ftvlive.com/todays-news/2014/12/1/longtime-memphis-gm-and-news-director-out
  9. Nobody. I'm so glad you're not in a Sinclair market, so you don't have standing to complain about them. By no means are they a quality broadcaster, but don't hate on them just because they're the biggest. And the FCC is not content with letting Sinclair take over everything, Sinclair still has many pending apps.
  10. That's surprising. I expect Nexstar to cheapen the station (for instance, ditch their news chopper. Nexstar hates choppers) and plaster the word "local" all over the place.
  11. Holy crap, they really rode MCTYW into the early 90's? Damn... (yes I know about WPVI and WKBW but I kind of consider them in a different class) It might be 1998 because they had their current "23" by then. And they rode that slogan well into the mid-2000's. You would probably know better than me but I think they ditched the slogan the same time they went HD (for "The Next Generation of News"). WIFR has always seemed to have an outdated feel to them. They never got the stock Gray set. Their current set . It's kinda hard to watch their newscast honestly because the set so obviously wasn't designed for HD which severely limits the shots they can do...
  12. Actually this news isn't that surprising: Graham Media Group Buys SocialNewsDesk http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/graham-media-group-buys-social-media-startup_b134441 Considering all of Graham's stations already use it and it was created by a former EP at WJXT, this acquisition makes sense.
  13. QNI must have made up with ABC by 2001 when they bought the Shockley group. Also, where's the 1991-1999 dates for WIFR using the PYCCO theme coming from? I highly doubt they rode that theme well into the 1990's....
  14. Looking at WCCO's history they didn't seem too big on syndicated pkgs until after CBS took control. The majority of their stuff before then was local. They had a couple Mayoham packs and the Wow & Flutter theme but they didn't begin using a Gari or 615 theme until after CBS took control.
  15. I bet CBS had a say in this. Remember they're buying WQAM and they also own WFOR. They probably don't want him working on their competitor and likely told him to choose between TV and radio. It wouldn't surprise me if they addressed Adam Kuperstein soon enough as well.
  16. I have a feeling Nexstar will do this with Comcorp because that deal is moving like molasses...
  17. I hope KENS won't be running four subchannels. They've got CBS, Estrella TV and VIPIR 5 Radar currently. Methinks that the radar feed will get the can to make room for this new channel.
  18. IIRC correctly KIII has four subchannels already. ABC, Me-TV, MundoFox and Cozi.
  19. So, apparently WMC has a three anchor morning newscast now. Why?
  20. KVDA and the Fresno station are no longer listed on ZGS's site so I think you are right. However they are still using Hola Cuidad as their website so it must've been very recent.
  21. There's no open up for KFOX but I found a promo posted 4 days ago. The amazing thing, KFOX is still using Scott Chapin. [yt]1hjSL_eB0jE[/yt]
  22. Yeah there's three potential designs they're looking at. If you scroll up we talked about KTVX offering similar survey.
  23. Yeah, they also switched away from John Young to Jeff Laurence. I have their open but it's a bad capture. I'll retry tomorrow for better captures using my software that doesn't put a watermark on the video because I paid for it...
