I'm still baffled by the way things played out with Chris Sowers. That was such a huge loss to the station. I was thinking that this weekend as I was watching the news before church. I haven't really warmed up much to Peyton.

I enjoyed ABC's coverage. David Muir has become one of my favorites. I was especially surprised to go to bed and wake up at 5:30 AM and STILL see him and the entire team still on! Did the other networks go that late with their whole teams? That was almost 10 hours.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I think I liked the background image they used previously better. This one is too... dark blue? I also don't understand why this was necessary, the other set didn't seem outdated at all? The different weather views are interesting... but I don't like how in the one shot, you can see the side of a copier and a literal recycling bin in the background!
I don't know how I feel about the contrast on the screens behind them in all situations vs. on screen graphics. The screens need some fine-tuning, I think. Maybe the actual contrast itself needs adjusting.

I came here to post about this
It was fun to watch, BUT, totally not worthy of getting a push alert about it on my phone!

I was wondering if some of the highlight music was custom or production music. Particularly what they play when promoting the Late Night coverage.
I like some of that, too! But I'm talking about the remixes of the famous intro and commercial break music. I did read an article about them having done the remixes, but I can't find any links to the actual music anywhere. It's catchy.

Does anyone have any links to NBC's new cuts of the Olympic theme song that they are using during Primetime in Paris?

Wow. Can't believe they're changing the set already!!

"Central Indiana's first source for news"... is this true, or just what they say? Are Fox stations often the #1 news in an area? I find that to be an interesting claim.

Sounds like Jim wants to be the main anchor but not come in at night. Not a fan of this setup.
They should’ve given either the 6 or the noon to Jim & Melanie. Seems like the morning crew does 5 hours plus Jaciel at noon, and Rob and Wendy 2.5 hours, while Jim & Melanie just an hour. Not sure why they have a separate anchor at 8pm either. Just seems like it’s not the best use of your resources.
Jim and Melanie both have young kids, so I'm guessing that's why... especially after watching the Rob Vaughn special. The "FMZ" does unofficially stand for Family Minded Zone. I think that's why Eve is no longer on the noon, either. Just a hunch!

They announced today that Jim Vaughn will take over for Rob from 5-6:30 with Wendy Davis and Rick Holmes will take the 10 and 10:30 spots with Wendy.

and ADHD pacing
I don't often get to watch GMA, but around 6:50 AM every weekday, the anchors of Action News on WPVI chat with Robin/a GMA member with a preview of the day's show. They often describe the most random things that will be on that day's show, and the anchors sometimes comment, "Wow! All that in 2 hours?!"

Not to mention how many stations have a Father-Son team in place to carry on. Did anyone else find it weird that station owner Dick Dean did take time from his usual commentary to acknowledge Rob;s retirement announcement. Maybe he will record something for the July retirement special instead?
OOPS - can't get edit feature to work - meant to say that Dick Dean did NOT mention it.
I thought that was odd also. I have to wonder though if those things are recorded a whole bunch at once

This got me thinking... in how many other TV markets has there been the same anchor for literally decades? And Philadelphia had TWO of them... first Jim Gardner and now Rob. Is it common?

So Rob Vaughn came back yesterday. But wasn't on with Wendy Davis at 10:00. So I guess he's still got some recovering to do.
Yes, he said last week he was only going to do the early shows for the time being.

He's been getting tons and tons of comments on Facebook - the Lehigh Valley is rooting for him!

WFMZ sent 2 reporters also, which I also thought was kind of unnecessary ... but I see the points you just made!

Ah, yes they do! Didn't realize that! Saw them for the first time yesterday. So cool! I guess we can expect an unveiling of the new package soon. Highly curious as to how they will adopt the Move Closer To Your World music package to it.
They've had the new weather graphics for many months now

Paul is the full time producer. Chris has sometimes done some coverage, like one ti e with a tornado warning when they referred to him instead of Paul. He started as the producer, left for on air work then returned.
I’d wonder if that’s chicken or the egg.
If you’re only getting two and a quarter days work on average, Karen’s days off notwithstanding, heck, I’d spend the time with the kiddos, too.
But it’s a little more than that. They’ve clearly limited his exposure on the air.
Which is so odd because I think he's great, always enjoy his forecasts and he really explains stuff well. Maybe he does do stuff behind the scenes? He was this amount of "part time" even before he had a daughter. i remember a few years they even left him out of the Flower Shower special!
This new position just seems really odd. Doesn't seem to be any logical place to add a new face.

I wonder if they will get a new Chopper 6? It was leased from a company.

I just fast forwarded through 69 News at 8. I guess if you didn't catch the news from 4-6:30, it would be new information. Otherwise it was all the same stories (and recordings of them, no live hits)... which I'm not surprised by, not much can happen in an hour and a half! Then there was a weather report and a teaser for the news at 10. Rob Vaughan by himself and Dan Skeldon with the weather. No sports report which was also interesting.

Maybe it is simply cheaper than acquiring another major syndicated show similar to Rachael Ray or Dr.Phil which WFMZ previously aired. Just a thought...
I was thinking that. Just saw a promo, looks like it'll be Rob solo without Wendy.

I came here to post about this! Not sure I see the need for this at 8 PM but it's certainly interesting...

I think I heard Adam Joseph mention it recently, something like "This was captured by our Lancaster radar"
