If they ever had a plan with Rick and a co-anchor at 11, it went out the window when Monica left.

If I were Rick Williams, I would be really upset if someone with a much shorter tenure got the job, however good they might be.

Jamie Stover posted on Facebook that she is leaving on Monday, but she is staying in the area. Just trying something new. Wonder what it is?

Dan Skeldon has become one of my favorite people on 69 News. He handled over an hour of tornado warnings yesterday with ease and kept calm, yet kind of excited in a way, with clear explanations of what we're seeing on the radar and also what a warning means vs. a watch. Also, and maybe this is a weird way to judge people, but I know he did the weather in South Jersey for so long, but he's learned the geography of the Lehigh Valley really well in naming various locations on maps even when they're not labeled. I think I like him better than I ever did Ed Hanna!

Interesting fill-in: Bob Brooks is in for Brian Taff at noon (Sarah said Taff will be along "later on"). I wonder why they don't have Matt or Tamala sub at noon? WFMZ and KYW do it (WFMZ's morning newscast is actually longer, running from 5am to 10am whereas 6's runs from 4am to 7am).
I thought Rick and Sarah were doing the noon a while ago? When did Matt and Tamala stop anchoring the noon?

Not a shoe in at all. But she did anchor with Gray two and three Saturdays ago. Wonder if it was an on-air tryout of some sort. She would definitely be my pick of those that have filled in. Worth noting, Saturdays have always been solo in morning and evening, while Sundays have the co-anchors. Here’s hoping they add them to Saturdays as those shows are just as long as Sundays.
Back in the day, Scott Palmer and Anita Brikman did Saturday and Sunday mornings ... or were Saturdays just solo? I seem to remember them both being there. Then, when Lisa Thomas Laury left and Monica and Rick did BOTH 5am and 5pm, Scott & Anita would sometimes fill in in the morning for them. I remember random times of Walter and Sarah then, Matt and Sarah, then Tamala was brought in from nowhere - I always thought Matt & Sarah should have gotten the mornings together. I also remember during that time that Michelle McCormack and David Henry would fill in on weekend mornings.

Interesting fill-in tonight: Matt O'Donnell is in for Jim Gardner at 6.
Anyway, it's been around 30 weeks since Jeannette left and there's still no official replacement. Sarah has subbed at least one time all of those weeks (or nearly all of them; I can't remember a week she was off every day). I wonder if they are just waiting for the new voiceovers to announce it? Currently CVD only does the opens and isn't used for anything else. I would hope they don't use the VA's that do the station promos and closing announcements; I don't think their voice would go well with MCTYW.
He's on again at 11, too. Wonder who will be in for him in the morning? I'm on summer break now as a teacher so I won't see the early edition for a few months

I believe the cutoff for Altice/Cablevision in Jersey is in Central part of the state..
Comcast country starts in Trenton and expands throughout most of PA. (Correct me if I'm wrong on this)
Comcast dominates in Philadelphia, Allentown and the Lehigh Valley are dominated by Service Electric, a local provider (who actually invented cable in the 40s) with RCN as an overbuilder.

They need to just trash the whole thing and start over. I like the original upstairs of the Times Square Studio. They had distinct areas: Home base, news desk, living room area, kitchen, interview area. Wish they would go back to that set up.
I haven't watched weekday GMA in years. This set is horrible, what's with the random squares above Robin's head?
It's funny, as I watched this, I was thinking, "What was wrong with set with Diane and Charlie?" Or even before then - a simple desk with the city as the background and some potted plants here and there - homey! And the living room as well!

Does anyone know if Clayton Stiver is still at WFMZ? It seems like Drew Anderson has been filling in for him on every weekend evening newscast for a while.
A few weeks ago Dan was doing noon-6 PM and Clayton was doing 10 & 10:30 PM.
Kathy Craine posted on Facebook she is currently working from home and Dan has been filling in for her - guess they didn't feel like trying to have her do the forecast from home?

This is an interesting move... at least he's staying local!

Karen Rogers was on during the GMA cut-ins.
Maybe Chris got in for the 10 PM show, then stayed up until the morning shows, then went home?

She will be missed!!! Always loved her forecasts and her personality!

Yeah I agree. It's a problem replicated nationwide due to NBC's weak primetime programming.
But ABC has pretty bad prime time also, especially at 10 PM... but people are obviously tuning to 6 at 11.

Seems that the longer headlines tease is in favor of shorter, tighter and music-less teases before commercial breaks.
Also, the A block stretching to about 18 minutes.
I was about to post the same thing. I was in my kitchen making dinner at looked at the oven clock at 6:46 and thought, wow! There hasn't been a commercial yet.
I actually like the long intro thing. It gives enough details that if I don't want to keep watching, I don't have to, but leaves out some details. Lately this has been the kind of thing I turn on after my local news (on an independent station) ends and I start messing around with dinner in the kitchen. I can still see the screen from there and if I hear something interesting that I missed, I rewind the DVR

Wendy Davis said she was exposed to COVID-19, so she's at home. I don't know if she has it or not, though.

WFMZ shared on Facebook that Ed Hanna is returning to tv this fall with an inspirational special. It sounds like he is hoping it will turn into a series.
I saw that. Interesting, to say the least.

I can cofirm this after watching today's broadcast on WFMZ's on-demand stream via SBTV. Looks all traditional which makes me question why they couldn't just use LIVE at Sunrise for the 9AM hour if they use the same name at 5, 6, 7 and 8AM. Its not like the 9AM is different from the other hours, at least from what I saw.
I noticed this this week also, although I haven't gotten a chance to see it. I'm not really sure why the Lehigh Valley needs 5 hours of morning news coverage... or should I say, the same 15 minutes of news repeated for 5 hours. I'm guessing they had to fill a gap left by whatever used to air at that time - not sure what it was or why it's gone.

Agreed that Sarah would be an excellent choice. She has an established rapport with Rick from noon, and is among the lead reporters for
major events like conventions and the Cosby verdict.
I’m somewhat surprised that Nydia and Tamala Edwards haven’t subbed on the 5. Nydia’s reporting on the This Is America web series was really strong, and she frequently contributes to the 5 as the consumer anchor. Likewise, Tamala is an accomplished writer. I enjoy watching her and Matt in the morning - perhaps they don’t want to separate that team.
If Sarah does succeed Monica, maybe they’d give thought to allowing Rick and Sarah an increased reporting role at 10/11, with Matt and Tamala adding the noon show.
Both Nydia and Tamala have fairly young kids (so does Sarah). So maybe their early morning / weekend hours work well for them. Sarah has at least a daughter, but she kept her noon / weekday evenight reporting duties even after having her, so maybe she's been able to make it work for her family-wise.
Sarah is great and really does deserve the 5 PM slot. If I were her, I'd be pissed if one of the "newbies" got it over her (unless she didn't want it).
In a situation like this, do these people have to wait for their contracts to end, possibly, before taking on a new role? Or would they just be amended.,

Damn, I wish I watched that; Would've been odd but fascinating. This reminds me of when Anita Brikman once filled in for Rob Jennings over a decade ago.
Anita Brikman used to fill in a lot for various people. Didn't she anchor weekend mornings with Scott Palmer? And when Rick and Monica moved to 5 PM, Scott and Anita filled in for them until they got Matt and Sarah, then Tamala
