  1. I'm definitely surprised to see this, I figured CBS would try to somehow ignore the story or not report on it (they even mentioned pelley's part about injecting falsehoods, so now every CBS viewer will be aware of this and somehow breathe a sigh of relief?). Good for Tony for giving (what seemed like) a genuine heartfelt tribute. I'd doubt it, but Is it possible they did this behind Bari Weiss's back? I would have thought since he was fired they would be given some order to not mention him. Heck, Colbert made 1 joke about CBS News and the morning crew was ordered to not report on his last show... https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/cbs-news-prez-ordered-morning-show-to-ignore-colberts-finale-because-of-late-shows-unprofessional-shot-at-tony-dokoupil-report-164619540.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAKQ4ajJfqBOLiPKIhSZENwmv-k0tsmkxIdS0fvaZ5lZ9ncHDPdsKx1UuaWUpqf2sPoz8XXRfaUh15ecWXTdqQNhHc7Rav4qYCEzWtnUxWfRAvunZGuMQbejir2FHnYBVv1Ln6TRDiQ03yGQdaj8Wvf59JXcd4pCTHjqhjWnCWhxY
  2. The whole situation is just so sad. What a dramatic change in talent from 1-2 years ago; not to mention all the behind the scenes cuts we aren't seeing. So now Shriely Chan will have to anchor alone 4,5,6,6:30 and 10pm.
  3. It seems this is no longer the case. Ever since the mass firings, G hasn't been doing weather at 10pm, and I assumed he was on a long vacation. Tonight, he was there in-studio for the "G thing" segment, but immediately after they tossed to Chris Cimino who's been doing the 10pm last few weeks. Not sure what G's new hours are, but he did the 4pm yesterday (so maybe he just swapped with Chris for earlier shows).
  4. Wow, after reading the subsequent major cuts happening at WGN and KTLA, WPIX is certainly not alone in this, but this is pretty much most of their major anchors/main faces. I think it is safe to assume these cuts were also responsible for Craig Treadway's departure. Especially sad to hear John Muller who, like Craig, is a longtime veteran.
  5. Craig would be a great addition, I wonder how he and Rosanna would mesh. Considering FOX picked up Lori Stokes and Sukanya Krishnan, it's not improbable.
  6. It's a shame that he didn't get the chance to say goodbye to viewers on air considering his long time there, although very few departures at PIX have happened in a graceful, mutual way (the only exception I can think of was Tamsen Fadal, who got a huge cake and everything when she left). Nearly all the others were sudden absences (Byron Miranda, Alex Lee, Oji, Betty Nguyen). It seems the morning show is particularly unstable
  7. Until Savannah returns, it seems Hoda Kotb will be co-anchoring Today: https://deadline.com/2026/02/hoda-kotb-today-savannah-guthrie-mother-2-1236713006/
  8. Found it interesting that during tonight's 11pm news, Matt Brickman is covering both weather and sports.
  9. Scott left his chief meteorologist position in Texas for this opportunity, so lets hope WCBS doesn't screw him over. He still appears on TV promos, so I suppose he will do the 6pm/8pm once he's back?
  10. It's the end of an era at WPIX, as Jim Culter is no longer doing the voiceover for news opens, for the first time since (i think) the early 2000s.
  11. An unusual sight today at 5pm: 2 men anchoring together, Allen Devlin and Dick Brennan. I still don't know why it's so rare in today's world, when 2 women together is so customary. I supppose the new old CBS Evening News broke the mold
  12. I know WNYW already does special weekend morning updates which (I think) air on TV in addition to streaming, although I could be mistaken. It's normally just 1 anchor who reads all the stories and does weather. At this point I think they should just air a full news program. Their morning block on weekends is Xploration and paid programming
  13. Yay, Cindy has returned to the ariwaves as of today at noon! So glad it was just a long break, which we are all entitled to.
  14. I was glad his old home of WCBS dedicated some time to this sad news. You could tell how sad Kristine was to break the news. He certainly has the talent, so I'm hopeful that things will work out for him somewhere.
  15. It appears Marc Malusis may be the one leaving, as he hasn't been doing sports on channel 11 in a while (in fact he has been doing SNY sportsnite this week during what would be his regular shift). Simone also mentioned doing a promo with Nelson. We'll have to see if he appears next week at all since his bio is still on their website.
  16. PIX currently has 5! sports anchors/reporters, so adding another definitely makes me think someone is leaving (maybe Nelson, who is current co-host?). I'm also surprised they haven't added Mike Masco full time yet to weather team (although he's been doing morning and night nearly every weekend since Star Harvey left).
  17. As someone who watched him for years at WCBS (and may be biased), I certainly hope he gets a chance to stay. Ideally, I don't think they should give him any co-anchor. I think Maurice overall is perfect fit for the Evening News, and just as talented and can compete against David and Tom. I also liked John Dickerson but agreed he should have been FTN host and not bumped around to different positions/timeslots, and I don't think he was the best fit for the Evening news.
  18. congratulations, you were correct!
  19. The meteorology community is not too happy, because Accuweather decided, for "public awareness" purposes, to misinform the public about this weekend's Nor'easter, and label it as a 'tropical' storm. I suppose accuweather will do anything to get those clicks... but seriously, I can only imagine how credible TV mets that have to use the accuweather branding feel after this.
  20. Jessica Moore returned to her old timeslot and anchored the 11pm with Allen Devlin tonight. Not sure if it was planned to have 2 anchors after football, but was likely due to news of Adams dropping out? Seems to follow the trend of having 2 anchors when a bigger story breaks.
  21. If you look at WPIX's report last night at 10pm, their introduction to the story was very transparent: "ABC decided to pull the plug on the show after Nexstar, which is PIX11's parent company, announced that its ABC affiliates would pre-empt Jimmy Kimmel Live indefinitely over its Charlie Kirk comments"
  22. If you believe the TVGuide , only WPIX and WNYW are doing special coverage, which I seriously doubt is true.
  23. Glad to see Linda Schmidt highlighted here! Saw a clip on youtube, it seems to have more conversation between reporters/anchors.
  24. Agreed 100%, getting rid of Andrea was a giant mistake. She was well-loved by her colleagues and viewers. I have no doubt she will end up somewhere great soon. Elaine is fine, but doesn't nearly have the personality and authenticity that Andrea had. As for the weeknight job, it would be nice to see Natalie Dudridge either get the morning or night role. I wouldn't say that Elaine is gone just yet, I've noticed during anchor intros over the last 2 months that WCBS has stopped altogether saying "in for ..." (except for meteorologists). Don't know why, but it's something noticeable. That is why Kristine was never mentioned when she was on vacation for ~ 3 weeks. Perhaps it is to de-emphasize the anchor?
  25. This is... intriguing: https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2025/7/7/nexstars-latest-nd-hire
