It's a major house cleaning after a decade plus of bad news directors making poor hires (though he was good). Their newscasts are better quality under their new ND even if they don't have full staffing behind the scenes...

Sunny and 55 is sort of self explanatory... I imagine the weather would be longer in a more inclement situation. Somebody figured out the traffic is the bigger deal I think. If they don't give the weather hit extra time on a nasty morning then that would be stupid...

He's the sports guy.... I don't know about you but I don't really expect editorial integrity from the sports guy... I can think of several guys who editorialize on air in ridiculous ways and don't get burned for it...

Ultimately what he does off their air is irrelevant to their editorial standards... 7 is known to be stiff as a board in really dumb ways... exhibit A....
