That explains why I hadn’t seen it. My earliest recollection of watching it appears to start with the 1998 format. I was 8 at the time so I’m sure I saw some older shows but I don’t remember it if I did. It’s a little eerie how good everything seemed then and the way it’s being presented and comparing that to now... a lot can happen in 20 years I guess...

Silly question: How long did they use the non-Kalehoff theme and rainbow-ish graphics in the 90’s? Found a newscast from 1997 that uses a theme I’ve never heard before and I wasn’t aware they had gone away from the well known theme for a time.

It’s not like talking conversationally is THAT hard. I don’t know a single person that speaks like David Muir. Nobody. It can be distracting.

If I was an advertiser I would be cautious.. there must be some drop off in viewers from the extended teaser... “well I guess that’s the news on to something else!”.. and then 2 or 3 17.575 second stories with 2 minutes of commercials between each... Clearly this is working in the ratings but it almost feels like a waste of time to not just run 6 minutes of ads after that 18 minute block. Maybe with everything going on in the world and how little attention they can give to things this argues Strongly for a full hour long newscast.

I felt like they gave us every story in the newscast in that teaser...

Is the old Jennings theme just in the open or is it in the teases to commercial and the close as well? Those long form closes with the old music were incredible.

What we have now was the old standard prior to World War 2. The “Just the facts ma’am” thing came along after that and I have the feeling like most things of that era it was an offshoot of the war in some way. Maybe the controlling of information by the government during the war. At any rate much is made of losing “objectivity” despite that being a short lived anomaly...

Well... they kinda depend on the games for their lifeblood... but that’s kind of a given.

Ah so that’s what it’s all about... bankrupting the RSN’s... If the only place to catch a game is on TV then that’s the RSN’s dream come true. They’ll make more in ad revenue due to higher viewership.

We all need to remember that objectivity is largely a postwar modern era invention. Journalism Spent most of its first 200 or so years as a partisan exercise and many of the “reporters“ were beholden directly to one or the other side. Heck some newspapers were at one time nearly party Appendages. We are going back to that slowly but surely for whatever it’s worth.

I suppose that might be a question for a court. In extraordinary circumstances courts have been very lenient on that sort of thing especially in a public welfare situation. It’s pretty easy to argue that is where we are now. That’s the same reason Freedom of speech and assembly don’t apply in these quarantines. Knowing 100% of exactly who has it would make stopping the spread pretty easy.

In theory if it finds a positive it isn’t a waste of a test. The problem is we don’t have enough tests. Ideally we would be going door to door across the country testing mandatorily.

I’ve always been skeptical that someone like that really believe 100% of what they say... Is she really Actually that much of a conservative that she believes in virus as impeachment ploy Or could she have been faking it because that’s where she was and what that audience wants to hear?
