That is by far the best color scheme on an ABC O&O package in that style...

So what this appears to be is simply renaming The NOW, using the regular news graphics during local news, filling most of the show with the usual national cut-ins (no graphics used) and then some nifty green-screen graphics customized for the station. So The NOW is alive but in another form that folks can identify with. Some of the new custom transitions look pretty nice actually but overall this is a letdown.

Smells like a Scripps corporate decision...

WXYZ has begun running promos for “7 Action News at 4pm”... looks like somebody got the memo about “The NOW” and it’s going bye bye...

It looks like somebody flattened the origins Scripps package...

The NOW’s graphics to all and to all a good night! seriously... they already use an extremely flat look for those... it wouldn’t be a stretch to repurpose them on a broad scale... Oh and NO orange...

That’s every stations C block... 2 or 3 stupid stories after a break from weather and before a break for sports... If somebody wants to be different they’ll run their last 15 minutes a night as an expanded two segment sportscast... but hey... what do I know...

That is a fantastically terrible name and the graphic isn't much better...

That’s almost as good as an all Dave (Solo anchor/weather/sports) newscast on WXYZ a few years ago on a Saturday night...

Well... WXYZ has “new” morning show lower thirds and a new morning show logo to go with them: All other graphics (full screen etc.) is the same standard stuff. The flying box is static in this look too which is nice... the moving logo stuff is getting stale. They are trying very hard to emulate GMA. Their anchors have also adopted some of David Muir’s odd speaking style in the evenings. They’ve always done this kind of copy the mothership stuff.

That means we can start speculating on their graphics package that follows the new one in 2026 right?

When you discover that CNN Newsroom at 4am on a Sunday looks rather good compared to their weekday programming that’s a terrible sign...

His previous stint was as an intern. He’s not bad. Allie Hoxie who recently came over from KSHB is awful and yet they let her hang around on the 11pm... she always looks completely frightened of being on TV... WXYZ has also finally redone the WXYZ.COM lettering on the front of their desk. The Copper from the old 2009 Scripps package is gone and it’s now dark blue just like the flying box. Way overdue.

Ahhh Florida... I hear it’s rather well heated this time of year...

Good for him... some of these people out there need to get a grip...

Which doesn’t really make much sense but we’ll go with that anyways... I’ve never liked the idea of a sportsless hour of news... you wind up ignoring one of the most popular subjects for your audience...

You could do the same with FOX News too...

Or an employer who cares less than others do about what they post...

Friday... the day the traffic girl anchors the 5pm news...

Does it run any better than ignite? There must be some advantage to it...
