Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
NEOMatrix replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Dude, just stop already. -
The only way I see Pappas acquiring KFXL is making it a total satellite of NTV unless KLKN can somehow claim exclusive ABC rights in Lincoln. Otherwise, the FCC might classify Lincoln and Hastings and block the sale and force Pappas to keep the status quo if KFXL is keeping it's Fox affiliation on .1.

I take it Haslem is leary of WOIO seeing how they messed up their preseason rights when Randy Lerner was the owner.
-
And, again, James Ciehola makes a long winded rant.
-
Or Raycom could buy WBNX, bump the CW to .2 and send WOIO's intellectual unit to 55.1 while cashing in WOIO's VHF 10 transmitter. 55 Action News, anyone?

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
NEOMatrix replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
WTOV (to an extent) falls under this. It usually covers Ohio stories mostly while WTRF covers West Virginia stories mostly. However, WTOV dominates that market thanks to the NBC-to-CBS switch and WTRF's ownership upheavals in the '80s and 90s. -
I got a feeling the Deathstar is coming a knocking for KLAS,

"Live from the Giant Eagle Broadcast Center in Columbus, this is ABC6 News on your side." It could work. :-p -
TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
NEOMatrix replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
Hey Deathstar, do us a favor and stop using bland logos for your stations. THANK YOU!!! Edit: Probably should change my avatar since WKYC is owned by Gannett.- 3703 replies

Even in a big market like Cleveland, THAT'S OVERKILL!!! I bet 2/3 of those weekend newscasts will have fluff just to fill the time.

Meanwhile in Youngstown, WKBN has been promoting wearing purple in support of its longtime chief meteorologist Don Guthrie, who is battling pancreatic cancer. http://wkbn.com/2014/07/17/wear-purple-event-to-show-support-for-guthrie/

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

And plus the fonts on the last-gen Gannett graphics made the graphics look chintzy, especially on TV stations like WXIA, WKYC, KUSA, and the flaggy of the group, WUSA. I'm happy that the new graphics look a lot more expensive, even if they do look like they're easy to do on Microsoft PowerPoint.- 3703 replies

It sounds more like a VCR tape on WHAS. That and the fact that the every other aspect of WHAS but the graphics looks totally outdated. I'm still wondering how in the world 11 is in second place.- 3703 replies

Has WCNC kept the "NBC Charlotte" branding or are they branding to something new?

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

While I do admit that the Gannett graphics look nice and clean, they're way too modern for KING 5's news set and makes it look more dated.- 3703 replies

Is this going to be a two-hour block on all Fox affiliates or will it be preempted on certain affiliates (WAGA, WTVT, etc.)?
-
If they do, please 'CNC, NO DATED, LATE 90s-LOOKING, UGLY "NBC36" logo. But, IIRC, Gannett stations don't use a "(Network)(Number)" branding, correct?

IMO, the E/I rules aren't really a necessity considering that we have PBS, Nick Jr, Sprout, etc. to teach kids. Lot of E/I shows aren't really all that entertaining except maybe a Litton show or two. I do believe that if the E/I rule was abolished that station would either air more news on the weekends or (in the case of super-small DMAs and Raycom's WOIO) more infomercials.
-
This is going to be a few days old but longtime WKBN meteorologist Don Guthrie has been off the air for over a month due to his fight with pancreatic cancer. http://m.businessjournaldaily.com/company-news/wkbn-air-story-guthries-cancer-fight-2014-5-27

My question is whether this will be a syndicated package similar to Litton's Weekend Adventure where an ABC affiliate can choose not to air it or is this going to be a you-have-to-air-it kind of situation for CW's affiliate group. BTW, RIP Vortexx 2012-2014.

KSNV in Las Vegas is giving the all-news concept a shot. Heck, I could even see WJW attempting that if Tribune will let them.

Would the Sinclair combo of WSYX and WTTE count? They air a combined 61.5 hours of news a week. WSYX) Weekdays: 4:30-7am, 12-1p, 5-6:30p, 11-11:35p; Weekends: 5-8am, 6-6:30p, 11-11:35p WTTE) Weekdays: 7-10am, 10-11p; Weekends: 8-10am, 10-11p

If 'YTV went to Barrington, 33 would have become Massa David's headache. WYTV as a Sinclair station would pretty much be a train wreck IMHO. No one in Youngstown would watch them because Youngstown is as liberal as Sinclair is...well, Sinclair.I doubt anyone in Youngstown would want to work for the Baltimore Bastards not only because of Sinclair's perpetual cheapness but also because of Sinclair's right-wing views. In a way, WYTV becoming WKBN's bitch might be a blessing in disguise.

Don't remind me of the group that wrecked WKBN

Good luck to her for having to compete with the 800-lb gorilla that's WGN.
