  1. Ansin said he was going to invest in more news and he meant it. I wonder if WFXT will do a 7pm to compete. WBZ obviously can't do it due to having WoF and J!
  2. IMO, Nexstar wouldn't have to do much graphics-wise or music-wise. The only thing that Nexstar would have to do is a new logo and possibly a new set.
  3. Well these stations are going to be in good hands (sort of). Although, I can already tell you, IMO, the branding coming to the WVM stations. Local 7 News/Ohiovalleymatters.com(WTRF) Local 13 News/WVProud.com(WOWK) WVNS News/WeAreTheTwoVirginias.com Local 12 News/MountaineerMatters.com (WBOY)
  4. Any bets that Glenn Stevens gets the anchor chair back at WFMJ? Although, they will probably have Leslie Barrett solo anchor until they either find a new (fe)male anchor. But, congrats to Bob Black for 35 years of journalism to Youngstown.
  5. WMMS was really creative and clever back in its heyday before Clear Channel bought the station and killed any soul that was at 100.7. Back to the cereal, this does get me wondering if WEWS will make a "Power of 5" cereal that's sold at either Marc's or Giant Eagle.
  6. Also, IIRC, WFFF (the Fox station in the Burlington-Plattsburgh market) produced news for WVNY (ABC). It was called ABC 22 News but then they would say "Powered by Fox 44".
  7. Well it's probably due to WKEF being relatively weaker in ratings than WRGT. What I mean is that WRGT does pretty well for a small-market Fox, especially at 10pm. WKEF, OTOH, has always been an also-ran for decades compared to WHIO or WDTN. Even though it would seem crazy, remember who gets the better news ratings potential between WKEF and WRGT.
  8. Stan Boney will move across the hall from WYTV to WKBN to anchor First News at 10 and 11. His replacement will be Corban Baker, a weekend reporter from KMIR in Palm Springs, CA. https://www.facebook.com/wytvstanboney
  9. Yeah, but WOIO doesn't air a Saturday AM newscast unlike 3, 5, and 8.
  10. WFMJ, for one. I wouldn't be surprised if Gray or Nexstar buys them next year.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if WUAB extends "Cleveland 19 News" to 9am and puts the E/I on Saturdays only. Also, don't be surprised if WUAB (finally) ends its 10pm news in 2017 in favor of (hopefully) a 6:30pm newscast.
  12. The good news is that WUAB is reverting to being an "independent". Techically all MNT stations are indy so this does work. Also, WUAB might have to drop its 9pm news because it was tried on WSBK in Boston (pre-MNT) and it failed miserably.
  13. A new era just begun on WOIO
  14. I'm betting on two years, "Ohio 19 News", and a shift in focus to the Akron area. Seriously, if WOIO pulled a WEAR and focused its efforts on Akron, then they would be out of the gutter and could gain a reputation for having more Akron/Canton news than 3, 5 or, 8.
  15. Thanks @[2210:@myronfalwell] now we will know how WOIO will look come noon tomorrow. Blah
  16. I'm glad that they've based the new logo off of the non-news 19, but those colors look bad. I know they're trying to move away from the "Action News" era as much as possible, but at least come up with a more dignified logo. As far as WUAB, that logo kind looks more like one for a streaming site than a TV station.
  17. Cleveland 19 and CLE 43?!? I'm glad that WUAB is moving away from the "my43" branding but this branding is bringing me flashbacks of the "Hometeam" era.
  18. It will be more like this: 4p: Nolan/Dufala 4:30p: Wittman/Tucker 5p: Robinson/Dufala 5:30p: Wittman/Tucker 6p: Nolan/Robinson 10p: Wittman/Tucker 11p: Robinson/Dufala
  19. This should surprise no one, really. Dish is always involved in a spat and seems to have more impasses and anyone else (they were even going to let the ESPN deal lapse but thankfully, they came up with a new deal). I remember in 2012 when Dish turned off WFMJ but, WFMJ being WFMJ, they told no one that 21 and Dish were in a dispute until the day after it was taken off.
  20. I wonder what happens to David Wittman. Will he anchor the 5pm and 10pm still? Also, I'm assuming Romona Robinson will be unchanged in her time slots.
  21. WOIO used to air a one-hour 11PM newscast on Saturdays and Sundays but scaled it back due to the abysmal ratings.
  22. What about Universal News? You could also rebrand CNBC as Universal Business and buy the rest of The Weather Channel and call it Universal Weather.
  23. General Hospital moves to the 11am slot and 2PM is used for Good Afternoon America.
  24. WXYZ actually did produce a 10PM newscast for WKBD from 2002 to 2005 but canned it due to low ratings compared to WJBK's newscast. Actually, the only news operation I could see producing a 10PM newscast for WKBD is WDIV and even then that wouldn't be sound doctrine to go up against 2 and 20 at 10PM.
