TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
jbnews replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
So...according to this video, TEGNA has wrapped its 2018 Content Summit. Seems like a pretty cool place to be! I love how TEGNA is not afraid to innovate and try new things. So...anyone who was able to go, what was it like? What were some things discussed? What were some ideas? I couldn't find much online.- 3706 replies

Congrats to Craig. I like him joining later in the 7am hour when the show gets more relaxed. I don't really want three permenant anchors. It is not needed.
-
I like it. They always liked to cram a lot of words into their headlines.
-
Are those going to be the new anchors?
-
That's unfortunate. I really liked him. I wonder if he was pushed out. I did notice there is no anchor job on KING's website.
-
Maybe. But, Cecilia is also a high-profile political reporter for the network who is WNT more often than not.

Has KGW named its new evening anchor and/or teams since Joe Donlon left? Are they waiting until the fall?- 3706 replies

So, the other day, Tegna had their "Pinnacle Awards." It awards the best in innovation, etc. at Tegna stations over the last year. Anyone at Tegna have any more info on this? What are the categories? Any place to view the winning entries?- 3706 replies

That would be a nice set. If the view is nice, their new set should take advantage of being up off the ground. I can't remember how high. WCAUTVNBC10 said they are hoping to move into the new building this summer.

I think WPEC is West Palm Beach has one.

Meaning their news coverage skews more democratic or the political 'left'. I don't agree with that. I think the Big 3 covers politics fairly.

What is the name of the production music KING uses on Take 5? It's not custom made. I've heard the music on a FitBit commercial over the last few days.- 3706 replies

People have mentioned KING's new 4pm show before, but now a debut date is known. I just saw a commercial online that said "Take 5 Seattle" debuts on April 16th at 4.- 3706 replies

WTAE's special election coverage on Facebook Live last night provided two pretty decent length opportunities to hear the AWESOME Strive 2016 Political Theme. Never heard this much of it before! Listen at the start of this video: And at 18:39 in this video: Will stations still be using this music once they get the new graphics? Or are the new cuts we've been hearing a totally different update to Strive, no more original package?

Can you post montages of the Philly stations' special winter storm coverage on your YouTube? Thanks!

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

Disappointing getting rid of their 4pm news. But, interesting. It looks like the show is called "Take5 Seattle". Here is the description of the show on Twitter... News on a mission: learn something, feel something, DO something. Community, Empowerment, Innovation, Inspiration, Advocacy. Sounds TEGNA to me. Hope it ends up being a good show and does good in the ratings. I like how TEGNA innovates things, but they just don't innovate the right way all the time. When did Angela Russel join KING 5? Is this the same Angela Russel from KIRO? She should be anchoring at KING on a normal broadcast not some new show. She's a very strong journalist. I would LOVE to see Marni Hughes join KING. She's awesome.- 3706 replies

CONFIRMED: Willie Geist mentioned at the end of the show this morning that Studio 1A is getting a "makeover". I KNEW IT!
-
I may be wrong, but I feel pretty confident they are getting a new set. In fact, they'd be pretty stupid for NOT getting one. Here is my reasoning... 1. Current set is about 5 years old. 2. Saturday Today, 10am hour were done from 6A. 3. NBC claims they are not using 1A for production purposes. I mean, come on. Have they EVER said that before? 4. TODAY recently got a new anchor everyone loves. 5. NBC had the Super Bowl AND the Winter Olypmics just days apart, so viewership will be very high. The last time this happend was in the late 1990's. So they'd better jump on the oppourtunity. 6. Studio 1A windows were covered. 7. Opening graphics were recently updated. In show graphics and music better come next. 8. TODAY has been #1 quite often lately. 9. It's just time to freshen things up! 10. JUST IN: Sunday Today is coming from 6A this morning. And if NBC's lie about production blah blah blah was true, they'd be using 1A because everyone flew back yesterday. You watch tomorrow morning, I bet there is going to be SOME sort of change.
-
I think they should promote Kate Amara, demote Andre Hepkins, hire new male and female anchor, add 4pm news, expand noon news to an hour, and morning news to 4am.
-
Okay, this basically confirms TODAY is getting a new set. After the Olympics would be the perfect time to get one considering their current set design is about 5 years old, they are going to have a big ratings boost from BOTH the Super Bowl AND Olympics, and they have a new anchor team everybody loves. They're doing the 9 and 10am hours from Megyn Kelly's studio. Yes, I know the 9am hour is always in that studio. But the 10am isn't. NBC claims it's for simplifying things on the production side, but I think they're hiding something.
-
Well, Boston Media Watch said she's hinted on Twitter about a return to TV. Hope she shows up on WCVB!

Do you know anything about the sets? Are music changes coming?
