  1. Just found about this now... Joe Glover was a former professor at the U.F.'s College of Journalism and Communications (DISCLAIMER: I work at UF's CJC).
  2. Cleveland is now home to three pieces of shits (3 because of the new format, 5 because of Scripps and 19/43 because they just joined way too late in the news race + the "taboo" format turned viewers away) and just one runaway winner (8 because it does news the best + most veteran anchoring/reporting staff).
  3. Don't believe in Breitbart. They're not legitimate. Unless if you had facts from Nielsen or read reports from TVNewser to back it up, then don't believe in that.
  4. KLAS-TV Las Vegas has added a half-hour newscast at 3:00 p.m. this past Wednesday. No surprise considering that Las Vegas NOW (now just a half-hour at 3:30 p.m.) has suffered from poor ratings and technical problems from the start. Its now the third in the market with KVVU still being all alone at 4:00 p.m.
  5. KEYC Mankato got a new look website but I'm stumped as to what it looks like because I know other stations somewhere have this look.
  6. Well if you guys read my blog, the 6:30 p.m. newscast originated in 2010 when WUPW still was all alone until the merger with WTOL in 2012. The newscast was kept but since August 17th, the newscast was moved a half-hour later to 7:00 p.m., where it airs now. So it was never canceled, just moved.
  7. Never live since that was always on KQCA, but I believe the 6:00 or 6:30pm newscast is aired again at 7:00pm there.
  8. I focused on the subchannels, not main stations themselves (ex. KHBS-DT2/KHOG-DT2 and not WKCF, KCWE, etc.) to prove a point that Hearst likes to add news on subchannels and not just on a main station itself.
  9. Hearst too takes advantage of its subchannels to air more news. Me-TV is on and all have 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT news except WAPT, WDSU, WVTM and WYFF: KETV (.2) KOCO (.2) WAPT (.2) WCVB (.2) WMUR (.2) WLKY (.2; with 7:00 a.m. morning news too) KCCI (.2) WBAL (.2) WDSU (.2) WGAL (.2) WLWT (.2) WPTZ (.3) WVTM (.2) WYFF (.2) [*]The CW is on and has 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT news: KHBS (.2) / KHOG (.2; with morning and weekend 5:00 p.m. news too) [*]CozI TV is on and has 7:00 p.m. news there: WTAE (.2) This post was just to make a point... Hearst uses its subchannels to its advantage to air more local news. You don't see other groups doing this.
  10. I had a feeling it was coming. Really. Every duopoly that Hearst has, it produces news for its sister. Hearst takes advantage of its duopolies, just like Cox and unlike some other groups.
  11. Can't wait for KDKA/WPCW and for the Orlando ones... can't wait for WKMG and WOFL (actually, its just been uploaded) too! I noticed that you didn't include the WRDQ opens in the WFTV compilation when you did include the WKCF ones in the WESH compilation.
  12. KDAF, yes. KIAH? At least they'll still have something.
  13. Longtime NBC News and WTVJ Miami reporter Ike Seamans has passed away after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 80. This man was GOOD. Really GOOD. I know because I watched him for years at WTVJ and was lucky enough to watch his craft with his amazing news voice. A stellar news reporter, excellent at best and legendary at the most. He will be missed. https://www.adweek.com/tvspy/legendary-miami-reporter-ike-seamans-dies/207918
  14. Now edited. Thanks!
  15. Congrats to CKMI Global Montreal's Jamie Orchard. She has been there since the beginning in 1997 (CKMI gained Global from CBC) and has anchored the Global Montreal Newshour since 2001. She's pretty much become a recognizable face in the Montreal market, alongside CFCF's Mutsumi Takahashi (who's been there since 1982). Now, she's their assistant news director. She'll be managing their station's on-air and online teams and yes, she'll continue to anchor the weeknight news at 5:30, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. For someone who's been there since the beginning of Global Television in Montreal, I'm not surprised to hear this news. Well deserved to Jamie. https://globalnews.ca/news/4444222/jamie-orchard-named-assistant-news-director-at-global-montreal/
  16. Your right! It was three hours back then (WABC, WCBS and WNBC from 5-6pm, WNBC from 6-7pm, WCBS and WABC from 6-6:30pm?, WNYW from 7-7:30pm and WPIX from 7:30-8pm) while its just two and a half-hours now (4-6:30pm).
  17. For goodness sakes, give Ernie Anastos his one-hour news!
  18. Sinclair must have gotten some inspiration from that sign to mess up their own spelling. How ironic.
  19. Yes and it never came. Just like the inside of their newsroom, its shit at WNYW at this point.
  20. By the way, Sam Rubin is in this week's episode of KTLA's "The News Directors Office" podcast, of which, I really thoroughly enjoy. Of course, it has the interview but it also starts with quotes and offers a fun fact on Dolly Parton (and who doesn't love her, seriously?) in every episode. I seriously recommend it. Past interviewees include Eric Spillman, Ellen K. from KOST FM, Kevin Fraiser (last week's) and Megan Henderson (first episode).
  21. They did almost a decade ago at 11:30 a.m. but later canceled it.
  22. Congrats KJRH. You've now realized why your in last place in Tulsa and frankly, maybe in all of Oklahoma (at least by putting OKC and Tulsa together).
  23. Considering that's for patrons, how do you know that's WTXF? It could've been for KYW.
  24. It looks like it would be from 5:00-8:00am, expanding from the current 4:30-6:00am timeslots.
  25. Lmao. At this point, Sheena's just great. I just don't understand why she's moving so much all of a sudden now. She became popular in Philly.
